Weird that the distance between the two cities doesn't automatically spark discussions of bullet trains or some other rapid mode of public transport. It seems like our thinking is so limited & outdated.
Yeah they're working on high speed rail between Dallas and Houston. Seems like one between San Antonio and Austin would be easy. Run it along 35 with stops in New Braunfels and San Marcos.
Please elaborate. The Spurs play some of their home games in Austin. SA has long been supportive of UT athletics. Their high schools compete against one another. It's no big deal to drive from one city to the other to attend some cultural event.
It would be nice if more discussion was placed on trains and not more highways. Adding or expanding more highways won’t completely solve the congestion problem.
Not when people realize just how fake and unsustainable the infrastructure of the city and county is. San Antonio is a city in which a suburban road system has been installed in areas with high city population densities. Because the city and county have turned over road development duties to the corporate developers, the road system on the outer edges of the city consists of overtaxed county roads squeezed between developments with no thur traffic flow. This leads to extreme traffic all the time and a very inefficient traffic flow. Spending ones time stuck in traffic is not fun. Worse yet is that the city and county residents will probably be on the hook to repave the roads in those developments that benefit the public, not one bit. This is what corporate oligarchy looks like. No thanks, I can't wait to get out of this clown show.
With a few possible minor exceptions (i.e. gated communities), this is how all cities in America do this. Things might be different in China, but I'm pretty sure developers are building the roads there as well. Roads utilities and infrastructure are installed at the expense of the private developer, who then deeds them to the governing body that will maintain these things. The increase in land value covers the cost via property taxes. What is ridiculous is when people who bought in older neighborhoods expect the government to provide them with amenities that were not included when their neighborhood was developed. (i.e. sidewalks)
I will never return to San Antonio,it is a terrible place and I went to Austin to survive my last days left in Texas because San Antonio was just that terrible to blacks

I just moved to San Antonio Texas from Ocala Florida and I love San Antonio ❤
Go back. We don't want people from other states to come anymore. Texas needs to close its state border.
Welcome here !!
Wait until the Hispanics ruin your experience. It will happen in time.

There is only one "Metroplex".
@@edmartinez6946 How about the Mexoplex?
If it becomes a major metroplex, it will probably be called the Austin/San Antonio metro.
It typically goes by the largest population first. San Antonio is ahead of Austin by a large gap in that regard.
Too many people in one place.
PRETTY SOON WE WILL HAVE TO MOVE TO VENEZULA AS THEY ARE ALL HERE
Wall off Austin and keep it confined. We don't need that seeping into the rest of Texas.
You mean Houston, that place is our florida.
Austin, Dallas, and Houston 🙄🤦💁
Great. They'll keep their school tax money (the biggest contributor to state education).
Nope, San Antonio and Austin are incompatible.
I'd rather people from austin than houston.
@@Jukinj94 Houston is way worse than Austin. I'd rather incorporate Hondo, Fredericksburg, give some of the smaller towns a chance to grow.
Not really though.

Sad thing is neither city has the infrastructure to support every that’s happening
It's going to happen eventually. An hour apart isn't bad either. Houston and DFW both have distances even longer than that in their metro areas
Nobody is coming to SA from another country. Unless those countries are from South America. 😂
No. end of story.
It would be nice if more discussion was placed on trains and not more highways. Adding or expanding more highways won’t completely solve the congestion problem.
The lines are horribly long everywhere in these two places too.
Short of a technological revolution in transportation, commuting daily to/from Austin is idiotic.
These cities are 80 miles apart. No, they are not one metro area. Stop it lmao
Get w/the times. It already is. Take a Death Race 2000 cruise between SA & ATX w/cussing once.
san antonio is poor
So is Austin
San Antonio sucks. Very old and dated city. Infrastructure planning is horrible. Double decker highways? Yea that worked in Austin pretty well
San Antonio thinks you suck too buddy
All of San Antonio agrees with the statement above.
@@questionhis-story both of you can kick rocks without socks.
@@Jukinj94 lol
@@questionhis-story =_= you're alright
I think the proper saying would have to be Austin San Antonio because it just sounds right
San Antonio is so wacist that I LITERALLY walked from there to Austin, that is how bad it is.
Why don’t you have a car? 🤔 Bus ticket is not much either 🤔💁

@@Sad_But_True17 Guess you haven't heard about all the subsidies developers get from municipalities, including paying for infrastructure.

Yall are just always rude 🤷♂️ so don’t be surprised. Mexicans only treat you how you treat them
Both of them cities are Democrat, there's a better chance they could be the next California, Dallas is not far behind.
Their suburbs are Republican. Also most people who move to these areas move from Red states, not Blue ones.
