  • One of the lesser known exploits in Space Engineers, even though it's technically a vanilla feature now. Got any ideas on what blocks to supergridify?

    Finally, a supergridding tutorial! This also works with projections in vanilla survival without switching to creative.
    I always got conveyors to work, fyi. You have to respect the original position of the conveyor, however, and the conveyors of the large grid blocks have to be connected to 3x3 conveyors.
    I particularly like to put a large grid hydrogen engine to the small grid large H2 tank, because it gives you a lot more power and does not look too awkwardly. That way you can even power a small/medium sized small grid atmo or ion ship.

      @@mathdantastav2496 how does it make sense other than a cash grab? Besides Keen already rewrote SE for Playstation 4 and then rewrote it again for Playstation 5. Then Keen sold both copies for the price of one to Playstation owners. I don't think they will push for a sequel for the same reason Minecraft never does. Because the adventure never ends and making a sequel would put a divide in the community and lesson the player base for both games. Those are my arguments.

    God I hope they get rid of the two-grid system for the sequel. It's always been so aggravating even to just say "small grid large" or "large grid small" or whatnot. I know part of it is just bigger shapes that use less computing power but the separate grid sizes are nothing but an aggravation.

      I've been thinking that for very very large ships and structures they need to add huge variants of blocks that fit into the same grid system, 3x3 5x5 and 9x9 armor blocks to reduce lag, have the game seamlessly convert arrangements of armor blocks into the huge variants when built and the seamlessly convert back to normal blocks when taking damage.

    • @therealbahamut
      @therealbahamut Місяць тому

      @@xavierrodriguez2463 I would be okay with just having one grid size with a much wider variety of block sizes to save performance when needed. The whole two-grid system is beyond annoying.

    • @blitz8425
      @blitz8425 18 днів тому

      @@therealbahamut that's what they are doing. Since all the blocks of both grids are a scalable form factor (1 large armor block is 5³ small armor blocks) you will just have one grid system, and can apply whatever blocks you want to a single grid from what are at this time, two different sizes.

    Supergridding allows for some nice design elements but overall is not of any practical use.
    Back in the day when this was first discovered, using subgrids was akin to inviting clang round then insulting his mother...
    The explosions were glorious.
    Now days subgrids have been improved to the point that you can do some really crazy stuff and clang will mostly leave you alone.
    Thus supergridding is now worthless.

      One of the main uses is larger ore detector on small ship without also need a huge ass rotor to attach it
      Another use is small connectors on large grids so you again dont need to use rotors to merge the 2 and only see 2 grids in your info panel instead of 3

      @@Razielzian your word means nothing because its wrong
      The methods available outside of super gridding for adding a large ore detector to a small ship consists of a rotor or connectors both big bulky wastes of space and make the ship heavier hence less cargo can be carried
      And YES!! subgrids do show in the info panel look into no where hit i and go to the info panel there to can change ownership or delete grids to get back PCU
      Take for example my simple base that consists of a rotating welder as your limited to 5 on the server im in a bunch of pistons and merge blocks to move the small grid into the correct places to get welded a couple rotor to small connector points and the main small mining ship all in all i see 12 grids in my info panel and sub gridding would reduce that to 9 for me

    Does this continue to work if the grid is spawned into a world that doesn't have super gridding enabled? You showed the first useful application - adding a LG ore detector to a small ship. What about adding expensive parts as SG to a LG ship - such as a SG (modded) jump drive to a LG ship? Would it still work normally?
    Would be fun to build a simple SG 1-engine hopper around a couple of big LG thrusters, adding a speed mod, then blasting off at 10 Gs! Who's gonna try it?

    • @joshuahill5930
      @joshuahill5930 Рік тому

      Yes you can put a small grid modded jump drive on a large grid ship but it will scale its dimensions to the large grid, meaning a 3x3x2 small grid block would become a 3x3x2 large grid. You wouldn't save any space and most small grid jump drives I know of are less efficient than the large grids for balance. You would lose out going small to large.
