the finale from tchaik 6 is his last, desperate plea to the world to hear his pain.. pain so deep that couldn't be expressed through anything but music. at the end of the piece, you can hear his heartbeat in the music throbbing and fading. every note of that movement pierces the soul... I can't imagine music more beautiful. it was the last thing he wrote before he died. if it was true that he committed suicide, that would make the finale his death note.

@@MaestroTJS I know it! ;) Every time I hear about Williams' influences (Dvorak, The Planets, etc.) people always seem to forget about Tchaik, particularly as it relates to the Indiana franchise. :)
@@tfpp1 You are absolutely right. I don't know why people forget Tchaikovsky or even in some cases seem to think of him as a secondary composer, which he definitely was NOT. Earlier film scores are even more Tchaikovskian, the "love theme" ones especially. Williams loves to have cymbal crashes on off-beats, which Tchaikovsky does a lot and are kind of unique to his music for the time. There are also strong similarities in the bright orchestration.
@@potrelviewer9536 It's horrible I don't know what Tchaikovsky was thinking, the third movement should have been the finale! Then this symphony would be Epic !!!!!
What’s so wrong about applauding after this wonder? Because it doesn’t fit protocol and etiquette? If people are enjoying, why not celebrate…it’s not like they’re being disrespectful.
that would be too conventional. Tchaikovsky was teaching us something about life. The third movement seems to represent the peak years of ones forties and fifties when one still feels that anything can be accomplished. The vim is still there. But then the fourth movement shatters all illusions. None of us wins against death. We have no choice but to acquiesce to it and let it take us over.
Origins of music unevidenced. Except it is gift to humanity from God the Creator. Music continues in heaven. Discontinues in hell. Jesus Christ came from heaven to earth for one purpose only - to die on cross for remissions of pre-existing sins of every single person and to resurrect. Jesus Christ providing forgiveness from pre-existing sins for every single person, salvation from eternity in hell and free entry to eternity in heaven for all who repent of sins in Jesus Christ. Other side of death is eternity. Eternity in hell. Or eternity in heaven through Jesus Christ. Penalty of pre-existing sins already paid by Jesus Christ on The Cross. Accept HIM. Be saved from eternal in hell. Enter heaven. Enjoy heavenly music. For free.
A perceptive listening to this movement, listening between the lines, as it were, reveals that the final movement is inevitable after this one. There is a desperation, a feverish intensity in the last few minutes, that gives the movement an added poignancy and power in relation to what follows.
Tchaikovsky was an alien. Not possible for a human to create this.

Outstanding performance. Quick tempo, great dynamics and energy. Chung is dependably excellent.
When it becomes impossible to withhold the applause after such an epic third movement
At first I thought that it was finale for this symphony

with all due respect, "epic" might be a little bit of an understatement to THE magnificent Tchaikovsky.

I love this interpretation. Also a good recording. Thanks for sharing.
Tis a very spirited march. Tchaikovsky was good at marches and waltzes. Except for beats per measure, they can be rather similar in character.
Overall, an outstanding performance. Shows the conductor and the orchestra in sections following the score.

My orchestra went through this movement yesterday in rehearsal and the bass drum plus timpani obliterated everyone’s hearing 🤣🤣 it’s so cool
