I love how Grim Hallow has backgrounds that are more like professions or castes. They also grow in power, influence, abilities as you level up. Very cool idea.
I’d have to say that one of my favorite 3rd party books would be The Compendium of Forgotten Secrets: Awakening from Genuine Fantasy Press. Adds a lot of different more specific warlock patrons as well as a subclass for a different class for each patron and is full of a lot of flavor, cool ideas, and good design.
best bestiary: Tome of beasts 1 (at the moment). best dm book: Spectacular settlements. (awesome amount of details!) best encounter books: (3 of them) ‘a wizard’s apprentice and a demon walk into a magic shop’ , ‘a blind woman and a medusa walk along the road’ and ‘a cleric and a vampire walk into a tavern’
The shoutout was well deserved JVC! I will check out more of your work in the future. Also, I did a video on your and Mr. Tarrasque's Sacrifice Domain subclass... its on my channel somewhere, lol.
So I am @18:30 minutes in & I noticed that the screen says "SkyFlourish" instead of "SlyFlourish", IRL Mike Shea has been using the SlyFlourish monicker at least since the introduction of 4e D&D, which is a Rogue power.
Lmao ... yeah. I realized that afterwards. I just recently discovered SlyFlourish's work... and I'm old, so I forget and mispronounce things all the time, lol. But still, that book is legit, i really dig it!
Great Video. I love adding to my library. Another great bestiary choice would be the Monster Manual Expanded and Monster Manual Expanded II. I just picked up Journey of Puzzles Encounters and am looking forward to going through it!
Hi Joshua, me too. I buy too many books, but I absolutely love having them on hand. MM Expanded is definitely on my radar. I hear lots of good things about it. Also, thank you for picking up my Journal of Puzzle Encounters, I hope it serves you well. Cheers!
@@WallyDM Thank you for the response. I have to say from what I have seen from Journal of Puzzle Encounter, it is a great resource. A will be using elements from it in a large quest I am running this weekend. Hope you keep it up and I look forward to more books from you.
Dragon Stew for monster cooking rules. (I really like the Druid subclass as well) Jet7 Legendary Dragons. By far the most useful DM screen I've found anywhere. And the book is about 9 super powerful dragons able to be inserted in all kinds of games. Also the DragonRider class is far more balanced than it has any right to be.
I want to add one book to this: Path of the Planebreaker by Monte Cook Games! It opens the multiverse to players as low as level 1, and that's not a bad thing. Basically there's this pandimensional moon/asteroid called the Planebreaker that busts through Plane after Plane in the multiverse, punching holes in reality and leaving a path in its wake that player characters can use to travel the multiverse. On top of that there's a city on the Planebreaker that players can have adventures on. It gives more planes than you can shake a stick at to have adventures on. It give you more monsters to fight, NPCs to encounter, and even new multiversal subclass options!
I am ready for part 2! Still waiting for some books from 2CGaming to show up since they are SUPER BEHIND on their Kickstarters (5 different Kickstarters all the way back to 2021 people are waiting for books and - and some still waiting for PDFs).
I am sending Mr. T. a message now. Anything in particular you'd like to see or simply 5 "more" Top 5 books? :-) Also... that really stinks that Kickstarters are not fulfilled yet. Hopefully things turn around soon!
Great Video!! Was fun watching you guys in this nice conversation. But now my wallet wants to start crying again ahahahaha also cant wait for Heckna to get to my home lol
Haha, thank you Cassia. This was a lot of fun to do. I think it was like 6am my time CST, so it was a good conversation over a cup of coffee for sure. And, absolutely... Heckna is gonna be off the rails. Thank you for watching, cheers! :-)
I have your puzzle book already on the way before I watched this video because of Mr.Tarrasque. I'm always looking out for something to help me become a better dungeon master. I was wondering if you knew of any good adventures that are set in the feywild? My group really wants to play with the fey but I know very little and I cant seem to find much inspiration for it.
Oh hey there, Alex. Thank you for buying my book, super cool! I have heard good things about Through the Veil on the DMsGuild. Its on my wishlist. Here is a link: www.dmsguild.com/m/product/310616
Tome of beast is really cool with awesome art. Only downside I'd add is the creatures CR should all be 1 higher. Their special abilities for some of them makes them OP for their level. Still overall a great source .
Hmmm. I will have to dig into it, that's a good question. But I will share with you my favorite Weapons and Equipment book. Pick up Pathfinder 1E Ultimate Equipment. I use it a ton in my 5E games. Standard equipment and tons of magic items. Also... welcome to the channel, cheers!
I+m wone of mrt|s patrons will sub hidden gems and adventure suggestion goodman games old school adventures reincarnated love the remade old school stuff and I love sandy peterson Cuthulu mythos for 5e as bestiary also there adventure paths are fun
Welcome to my channel Alexander! Hope you enjoyed the video. Mr. Tarrasque is a ton of fun to chat with and he definitely knows his stuff when it comes to D&D Books. You've mentioned some interesting titles here... I'll have to check them out. Cheers!
Can anyone recommend 3rd party books to help with campaign cause I want to create a cool world for my new campaign. This is my 5/6 campaign btw. So still kind of new
Hmmm... I am really unfamiliar with books like this. "Ultimate Campaign" from Pathfinder, might work... but, I'd have to look into it. This is a great question/request. I wish I had an answer.
Thanks for having me! So much fun!
Absolutely! Good times with coffee, lol!

The complete armorers handbook by heavyarms was a great implementation at my table, we don't even know how to play the game without it anymore
Oh neat-o. I've made a note to check this out. Thank you for the recommendation!

I dig the choices. I definitely need to check out the Spectacular Settlements! I've heard it mentioned a few times before. Cheers!
I am glad you finally got the video to record for Mr Tarrasque. Great combination.
Thank you my friend! I do love collaborations with other UA-camrs. Working on our video next. Hope to have it done by Sunday. Talk to you soon! :)

Mr. Tarrasque!!!
Indeed! And... more collabs coming soon. :)
Who's that wierdo you are talking about?
In 3.5 I was a fan of D&D stuff for 5E in more of a fan of 3rd party stuff
Interesting take! I nevery played 3.5 but, for 5e, my 3rd party collection outnumbers my official 5e collection almost 5 to 1.
Tome of Beast has the Rum Gremlin as well. Amazing creature. a 6 inch tall drunk man who makes everyone within 20ft drunk!
Rum Gremlin???? How did I miss that. I've gotta check it out and team it up with the Keg Golem and the Alehouse Drake, lol. Thanx Grant!
Tome of beast is really cool with awesome art. Only downside I'd add is the creatures CR should all be 1 higher. Their special abilities for some of them makes them OP for their level. Still overall a great source .
