Keep your mode switche clean out y dirty mode switches in VCR players causes problem's on playing problem's like it doesn't play at all or sometimes it doesn't let tape go in or sometimes it starts eat tapes everything proven people keep there mode switch clean out people will never have that problem at all

Find a hi fi vcr that has VU meters and a headphone Jack. I don’t know why most VCR’s don’t have these basic features. None of the 5 you mentioned has these.
There are a few different formats for VHS and you will need a special VCR to playback all of them. Make sure that the VCR you want plays the same format as the tapes you have. The main formats are NTSC PAL and SECAM.
I can understand why audiophiles might want to use a HiFi VCR to record live sound or prerecorded analog if they can’t afford a high quality A/D converter. But for anything to do with video?

Where is the headphone jack? Where are the adjustable audio input meters? These features come on even the cheapest cassette decks. Why are these items excluded on hifi VCR’s ? What a Jip. The public should have demanded these features on VCR’s!

The best vcr to buy in 2021- its any vcr from early 80th unpacked brand new.
Meh…I think 90s vcrs were better than 80s vcrs.
SHARP vcrs from the late 90s are great units and have great picture quality.
I would have liked to get an HDMI upconverting DVD/VCR combo, but they are very pricey!

Panasonic have the worst video heads for reliability of any vcr from the early 90's onwards.
VCR'S proven they everywhere online specially damage vhs proven they continue playing yet damage blue Ray's proven they don't play at all
I had three Sony VCRs and all of them broke in different ways...Sony and reliable, that was a good one!

I have 2 S-VHS VCR's with Expansion Technology, which allows recording S-VHS on a standard VHS cassette.
If the Sony combo has the Samsung mechanism inside, forget about reliability.
