So while this isn't meant as an endorsement, which I know it will seem to be by some, the great guy that I purchased my BK30 from, Justin Brandish, justin@brandish.com 904-222-1400, contacted the manufacturer and voiced my concerns and they immediately created a PDF Manual! The weight rating for each of the drop points is 1.5kg (3.3lbs) and you can load both drop points, so you can have a max of 3.0 kg's total loaded to drop. The manual is well made and shows much more than just this. They are working to get up a link to download the PDF file. When it's up, I will link it.

Can this be used without the red and blue lights activated
Yes, the red and blue lights have to be turned on or off manually. So when I normally use mine I keep them off.
