With russia and regarding the supposed numbers of systems built over the years, there's also always the questions: How many were _actually_ built? How many of those are _actually_ left and _in working condition?_
Not only that. The range is limited and you may not want to have one very near something like an oil refinery, you want it to be at some distance right? If not and if the location is known, a drone can come from some other direction.

The SBU has since released another compilation of Buk and Tor systems getting whacked with RAM-X and another loitering munition which is the second model that Ukraine has been developing. The compilation includes the Buk radar which you previously covered which was 43km from the zero line.
At least now the world now knows Ukraine is not part of Russia. I bet a couple of years ago most of the world still believed it was, and not fully aware of exactly the consequences of the break of the Soviet Union

I think an important distinction to make is between having a lot of systems (like the Tunguska, or the Patriot) and having the ammunition to make those systems worth anything. I don't doubt that Russia has extra AA systems but they're worthless without ammunition. Ukraine has a tiny fraction of the systems that Russia does and Ukraine has already burned though most of the US stockpiles for NATO weapon systems. Russia is using an order of magnitude more systems than Ukraine but Russia has an order of magnitude less production capacity than the US. If Russia has 4000 Tunguska systems left but ammunition for 4 of them, then Russia has 4 Tunguska systems left.
I believe the improvements lie in autonomous guidance in order to avoid Russian electronic warfare against drones. Russian EW is in many case more advanced than US EW. The autonomous guidance of the drones when they lose remote control is necessary.
A uav which uses a thermal target acquisition is not going to be blocked by the Russian jamming system. If they have AI as well then they will be very deadly.
Probably, they don't appear to have thrown anything away, and they are pulling out every bit of rusty junk for this war. But the Tunguska has been the replacement for Shilka's and Strela/Gaskin's since the mid 1980's.
The much ballyhooed Switchblade drones (300 and 600) hyped at start of war as being "game changers" have all but disappeared it seems. And let's not forget the Phoenix Ghost drone!

Engine noise is one thing, I also think they would be less visible if they had led’s on their belly that shines as much as the sky. You may have seen on videos that drones can be quite visible and also quite noisy. A Polish inventor came up with the idea of counter light before me and it works well. It’s called yehudi light

So a Tunguska AA gun is being observed by a spotter drone and destroyed by an UAV drone.
Those radars really have a hard time spotting those.
Yeah, they were designed for detecting Apache helicopters and F-16 attack aircraft.
