UP 2112 was on the "Lawrence Switcher" that worked the Sunnyvale area.
The SP-led freights departing the yard were MSJRVs (Manifest freight San Jose to Roseville). GREAT VIDEO!!

Back in these days, the Capitol Corridor didn't stop at Santa Clara (well, they did, but it was, and still is, a different station over by Great America) because the second platform hadn't been built yet, Caltrain was repainting its cars and still had K5LA horns, there were still alot of unpatched SP units, and the yard was busier.

The Geep at :34 gets my vote simply for having the number 2112.

I assumed the downsizing of Newhall Yard was because UP shifted the majority of their Northern California yard operations to Roseville, not to mention dwindling local traffic in the South Bay caused by branchlines being abandoned and industries either shutting down or switching to trucks, and more freight trains going North-South through California via the Fresno Sub.
