I didn't want the "free" 30 day trial of Amazon Prime. Because I figured it would be difficult getting untangled from it. But while I clicked on "no thanks" etc. trying to dis-engage from this 'deal' suddenly I have it. And sure enough, here I am trying to get rid of it before I have to pay. The thing is that if its a free trial, then unless they inform the user that they intend to auto-renew upfront BEFORE the user accepts the free trial, it then constitutes fraud in the inducement, under the theory of switch and bait, and therefore becomes an illegal transaction. This is because the user must know all the terms of the contract agreement BEFORE the user is committed to any transaction, and because after this point, it is illegal for amazon to unilaterally modify the contract without additional consent from the user. This is basic contract law 101.
I can't understand that when I go to my account with Amazon UK it clearly and specifically says that if I stop the free trial it ends immediately and I lose all the benefits. Yes, I understand you say this is bullshit and I can ignore it, but I just can't get my head round the fact that they are saying something in great detail that you are saying is a lie. Why are they able to do this? I'd ask customer service but in my experience they often bungle queries and know less than I do. For the moment I've opted for the warning 3 days before trial ends.
Hi Sandy. At the bottom of the "manage your Prime" page on Amazon.co.uk it should say "End trial and benefits". If you click that it will take you to the first of 3 steps. On this page there'll be promotions etc. to try to keep you from cancelling, but scroll to the bottom and you'll see 3 yellow buttons. Click the middle one that says "I do not want my benefits" (the wording is deliberately ambiguous I think, but it actually doesn't mean that the benefits will end IMMEDIATELY). That takes you to step 2 where there'll be another promo (eg. to extend your free trial by another week or months), but below that there'll be 3 buttons again. Click the middle one "continue to cancel". That takes you to the 3rd step where you get the same 3 options again, but this time you'll see the button "cancel membership and end benefits" has this message: "Your free trial membership will expire on 13 May 2019". In other words, that confirms that if you click the "cancel membership" button then your benefits will still continue UNTIL that date (ie. the end of the trial period). It doesn't end immediately. Are you seeing the same as all of this?

Hi Andy. Just a question first: if your trial ended then it means you have an account where the trial was on, so could you tell me what you mean when you say you don't have an account? If you really don't have an account, or you don't remember what the account is, what you can do is contact Amazon customer service (preferably by phone) and ask for the "unknown charges" team (also know as "back office" team). Explain the problem, then tell them your credit card number so they can find the account where that card was charged on, and cancel it, or whatever you ask them to do. Let me know if that helps.

The message "Your Prime membership will be active soon" usually means that they haven't finished verifying your credit card details, but you should still be able to use all the prime benefits in the meantime. Give it some time (maybe a couple of days) then check back to cancel the trial. If it still gives you that message then you can either wait some more, or you can contact Amazon customer service so they can cancel it (ie. make sure it doesn't renew) for you so you won't be charged.Don't worry about that message...even if you don;t cancel it before it renews (and they charge you), you can contact them and they'll give a full refund. Hope that helps.

Do you mean get the free 2 day shipping, then cancel the trial? Yes, even if you cancel the trial like in the video, you can still get all the Prime benefits (including free 2 day shipping) for the remainder of your 30 day period. You won't be charged for shipping if you cancel the trial.
Online shoppers should look at different websites to buy what they want and NOT just Amazon. That should teach Amazon a lesson not to bundle Amazon Prime with whatever we buy. We have to RIGHT to avoid Amazon if we want to.
If you have multiple login accounts you need to change to the new one in amazon as it defaults to your original login. Then you can cancel the renewal with the newer login.

Sorry to hear that CrisperCrayon. If you've already tried the other websites then try any other Amazon site you might have used (eg. amazon.de, amazon.fr, etc.). Also, are you sure the account you're checking is the correct one that you got the Prime trial on (ie. maybe you have another account with a different email address or password where u got the trial on). If none of that solves your problem, then call Amazon customer service and explain the problem. They can find the account where Prime is on and where the charge is coming from. They'll cancel it and even give you a refund if you explain what happened.
Quick question, after signing up for amazon prime free trial and its already been months and I checked my membership and its stated that I'm currently not an amazon prime member, but till this day I am still able to use prime video that I saved on my browser...is there something wrong or is prime video free somehow?
I've done a ridiculous amount of work to simply cancel a free trial...hence why I'm now on UA-cam watching vids about it. I am going through the actual webpage (Not the app) and I have the exact screen (manage prime account)you show here. Except.... I do not have the "remind me before renewing" or the "do not continue" options. I've scoured my account every which way, researched all the help topics etc to no avail. It clearly states "free trial" at the top & only gives me the option to "change payment method" under preferred payment method. At the end it states "you have not been charged for this service yet, with tomorrow's date as the renewal date. I've been at this for 3 days & am over it. I finally just deleted my cards leaving only an expired one attached to my account. I'm extremely frustrated I actually had to go that route. I really appreciate help videos like this, but am leaving this comment just in case I'm not the only one having issues with those options not being available.

Alternatively, call customer service on 1-866-216-1072 and tell them to set it to auto-cancel. They can do that in 1 second with just i click on their system. Feel free to let us know how it goes. loveneverfails1384 I dont know if it will help you, but I ended up going down to the very bottom of the page in the blue area & under the heading "let us help you" I clicked the 'help' link. Here it listed several topics one might need help with, including a link to get help with cancelling prime. I tried that link many times, but the info it gave didn't help me. So instead I tried specifically typing "cancel prime" into the little search bar & suddenly I was on the page asking if I really wanted to cancel. Hope this makes sense & helps you.

Sign in on www.primevideo.com and try to cancel it there instead (see comment above). If that doesn't help then delete your credit cards off the Amazon account and they won't be able to charge you when the free trial ends.

Hi. Then it might be charging you for prime on a different account. Do you have any other Amazon account (with a different email address)? Try signing into that account and see if there's Prime on that account. Alternatively, you might have Prime Video or Twitch Prime. See if you can sign in on primevideo.com or twitchprime.com.
Yes, definitely. You don't even have to wait for the package. You can cancel it (like in the video) immediately because it won't end the trial immediately. It just tell Amazon not to renew Prime (and charge you) after the 30 day period. You'll still have Prime benefits for 30 days.

I think this process is unfair because auto-renew should always be set to no by default otherwise they are basically stealing money from people without telling them about this feature during sign up - PSN does the same thing to Playstation Plus members and it's bullshit (They should also state that they will remove $1 from your account for testing purposes for validating the account, however they renew this so it isn't a problem)

im not sure wether anyone had the same problem as me, i watch the video and followed his insructions which btw very clear and great im just special, problem 1 was that when i went on "your prime membership" it did not show me the same page, instead of everything being at the side it was at the top. look for manage member ship at the top right and then there should be 3 options written in tiny blue writting saying update,cancel and more, click on that. i must say that didnt appear the first couple of times so just keep redoing those first few steps until u can see the blue writting but afterwards once u have clicked on it, it will say remind me before auto renew or cancel membership. from there its pretty simple and u can do it by urself. i hope my advice was helpful for those that had the same problem
Hi L. No, you won't be charged for the shipping afterwards. The 2 day shipping is a free benefit to you because you're a Prime member, even if it's just a trial membership. During the trial period you can use free benefits as much as you like, even if you don't intend on continuing with the paid membership afterwards.

"Prime membership" is not listed in the drop-down list even though I'm a member. I bought 2 items as a prime member.

Sorry to hear that CrisperCrayon. If you've already tried the other websites then try any other Amazon site you might have used (eg. amazon.de, amazon.fr, etc.). Also, are you sure the account you're checking is the correct one that you got the Prime trial on (ie. maybe you have another account with a different email address or password where u got the trial on). If none of that solves your problem, then call Amazon customer service and explain the problem. They can find the account where Prime is on and where the charge is coming from. They'll cancel it and even give you a refund if you explain what happened.
Quick question, after signing up for amazon prime free trial and its already been months and I checked my membership and its stated that I'm currently not an amazon prime member, but till this day I am still able to use prime video that I saved on my browser...is there something wrong or is prime video free somehow?
I've done a ridiculous amount of work to simply cancel a free trial...hence why I'm now on UA-cam watching vids about it. I am going through the actual webpage (Not the app) and I have the exact screen (manage prime account)you show here. Except.... I do not have the "remind me before renewing" or the "do not continue" options. I've scoured my account every which way, researched all the help topics etc to no avail. It clearly states "free trial" at the top & only gives me the option to "change payment method" under preferred payment method. At the end it states "you have not been charged for this service yet, with tomorrow's date as the renewal date.
I've been at this for 3 days & am over it. I finally just deleted my cards leaving only an expired one attached to my account. I'm extremely frustrated I actually had to go that route. I really appreciate help videos like this, but am leaving this comment just in case I'm not the only one having issues with those options not being available.
Thanks for the comment Stacey. I'm really sorry to hear about the trouble you're having. 2 things you can do: Try a different browser and see if you get the "remind me" and "do not continue" options. Alternatively, call customer service on 1-866-216-1072 and tell them to set it to auto-cancel. They can do that in 1 second with just i click on their system. Feel free to let us know how it goes. loveneverfails1384 I dont know if it will help you, but I ended up going down to the very bottom of the page in the blue area & under the heading "let us help you" I clicked the 'help' link. Here it listed several topics one might need help with, including a link to get help with cancelling prime. I tried that link many times, but the info it gave didn't help me. So instead I tried specifically typing "cancel prime" into the little search bar & suddenly I was on the page asking if I really wanted to cancel. Hope this makes sense & helps you.

Sign in on www.primevideo.com and try to cancel it there instead (see comment above). If that doesn't help then delete your credit cards off the Amazon account and they won't be able to charge you when the free trial ends.

Hi. Then it might be charging you for prime on a different account. Do you have any other Amazon account (with a different email address)? Try signing into that account and see if there's Prime on that account. Alternatively, you might have Prime Video or Twitch Prime. See if you can sign in on primevideo.com or twitchprime.com.

Yes, definitely. You don't even have to wait for the package. You can cancel it (like in the video) immediately because it won't end the trial immediately. It just tell Amazon not to renew Prime (and charge you) after the 30 day period. You'll still have Prime benefits for 30 days.

Yes AceX. Just contact customer service and explain what happened. They should then issue a refund.
I think this process is unfair because auto-renew should always be set to no by default otherwise they are basically stealing money from people without telling them about this feature during sign up - PSN does the same thing to Playstation Plus members and it's bullshit (They should also state that they will remove $1 from your account for testing purposes for validating the account, however they renew this so it isn't a problem)

You're welcome Lori. Yes, often when going through checkout there is an offer to sign up for the trial and many people unintentionally click the wrong button. You don't have to worry about it now though, and you have Prime for 30 days.

im not sure wether anyone had the same problem as me, i watch the video and followed his insructions which btw very clear and great im just special, problem 1 was that when i went on "your prime membership" it did not show me the same page, instead of everything being at the side it was at the top. look for manage member ship at the top right and then there should be 3 options written in tiny blue writting saying update,cancel and more, click on that. i must say that didnt appear the first couple of times so just keep redoing those first few steps until u can see the blue writting but afterwards once u have clicked on it, it will say remind me before auto renew or cancel membership. from there its pretty simple and u can do it by urself. i hope my advice was helpful for those that had the same problem

Hi L. No, you won't be charged for the shipping afterwards. The 2 day shipping is a free benefit to you because you're a Prime member, even if it's just a trial membership. During the trial period you can use free benefits as much as you like, even if you don't intend on continuing with the paid membership afterwards.
