What a neat spin on Natasha beads. That angel one was incredible, it even had shading on the side of the robe. It's hard to believe random chance created it. To me, the first cut of the demo piece looked like a pair of rearing tigers facing each other. With the right colours, this would be a great technique to make Xmas ornaments.
I think the woman bead you have there looks like an angel. She has wings and if you look at her head she even has a halo. I wonder if you can remember what you were going through at the time you made it. Perhaps she came to encourage or bless you during a time of need. If I were you I would keep that bead close and look at it whenever I needed a boost. I see that bead as a miracle especially for you and anyone you show it to. Of course, not to misdirect you from it's true source.
Hi lindsey k, the Lily Cane is one of our paid tutorials. We only show the introduction video here on UA-cam so that people can be inspired by the samples and then buy the class (which is super reasonable btw). If you would like to learn more about the tutorial, go to my blog (link in description). At my blog type 'easter lily' into the search box and you will find the links there. I hope you do pop by the blog. There is lots of great tutorials there, both paid & free. Thanks for your comment!
My daughter (13)and I do a lot of polymer clay work, but it has mostly been simple jewelry or figurines. We came across this video tonight and fell in LOVE with the whole concept of Natasha beads! I can't wait to try them. Thanks so much for inspiring us both! --Leslie
I love the 'teardrop' shape you make, these are lovely!! I made Natasha beads in the past, but only with scraps, not canes, and only rectangle beads. Thanks for sharing your wonderful work!!
yes, I have made beads like these, but didn't know they had an official name! Never heard of a Natasha bead, but they are so exciting when you reveal the interior !!
Fabulous video! I got a gorgeous Natasha bead necklace at our Polymer Guild holiday party gift exchange and tried about 18 different ways to get the "Natasha" look on all 4 sides on a similar necklace. No luck.... However, NOW I'm ready to head out and use an early flower cane to try your method. Oh boy Oh boy Oh boy!!!
That's cool Linda! I hadn't noticed that Scream Face until I looked back in the video. Of course when I cut it again, it was gone. It is very intriguing what will show up. Glad you feel inspired! :)
I have watched a great many tutorial videos on youtube. I have to say this was one of the most delightful I have seen and as you were demonstrating this technique I came away with the wow factor and a host of ideas for future bead/pendant making. Thank you so much.
I've made Natasha beads before with just the one mirror image, I figured it out by accident when I was making a marble effect from cane ends, but I never knew they had a name- and I love the 4 sided ones you've came up with- very cool, thanks for sharing this :)
I was so excited when I saw this video. I had a bunch of cane ends in front of me trying to figure out what to do with them. wa...laaa...your tutorial showed up and now I am making the Natasha beads. Thank you so so much. I have loved everyone of your videos that I have watched. I have so many more to watch, my husband may not see me for a long time. lol
You are very welcome Trystan! Thank you for saying that. Just so you know, we have a blog that is filled with tons of videos, tutorials, articles and interesting conversations, equally as inspiring as this video. If you want to check it out, the link is in the description above. Glad to hear you were inspired with ideas for your own jewelry making projects. That's what I like to see!
Hi dandellion Kimban, I work with Premo clay which is sticky enough to stick to itself quite nicely. When making Natasha beads, I just press the pieces together lightly and it sticks together just fine. Hope that answers your question!
Hi Doreen G, Yes I have lots of tips about baking and just about every other polymer clay topic you may need help with. To find relevant information quickly, your best bet is to use the search box at my PolymerClayTutor blog. There are direct links to my blog embedded in my UA-cam video above. See you at the blog!
I have never made a Natasha bead. I have cane ends that I have been unsure what to do with other than scrap them. I am so excited to see what will become of the cane ends I have been holding onto. Thank you so much for sharing, love your videos. Kathleen
thanks for a bit of a twist to Natasha beds. I've seen it demonstrated a few times, but have never seen it shaped as you do. I've entered a swap in my PCG and if I don't have to do a huge a mount will do them in your style to make mine a bit more individual!
Thank you HokeeDokeyHorses for your nice words! Yes, since the melting point of 925 Silver is 1639F (893C) and the baking temp for polymer clay is under 230F - 300F depending on the brand, you will have no problem putting polymer clay into a 925 Silver bezel and baking it. That goes for all metals and a lot of other materials as well. Thanks for commenting!
Hi HokeeDokeyHorses, you can bake your clay in the bezel, but you will need to pop it out after baking and glue it in. There are several options for gluing polymer clay. Go to my blog (link in description) and type in glue or adhesive in the search box to find out more about that. Thanks for commenting!
OMG!! You are a life saver. I just wish I saw this video before I had used my scraps for fillers. Not to worry, I'm off tomorrow to get some more supplies. I absolutely love the look.
Hi Cindy, I have not tried to make a Natasha bead, but remembered your wonderful little tutorial and wanted o watch it because I'm gonna make one right now. I do not have any canes, haven't been able to do that yet, but I'm gonna use some scrap clay. I enjoyed the tutorial very much and thank you.
Cindy...Patty and Karon taught Natasha beads at our clay group meeting today. We learned from you and passed it on and everyone was so excited to make the beads. Next month we're going to teach lentil beads. Thank you so much for teaching us such wonderful things.
Sounds like you had a good time Peg. Glad you gals are learning so much! (Don't teach anything you learned from our paid tutorials though. Those techniques are for members only, but I am sure you know that already.) Say hi to Patty and Karon and have fun claying together!
Not giving away any secrets. We've done fairy houses, Natasha beads, mica powders on textured clay and next month, lentil beads. So much fun meeting with people who speak clay.
I'm not much into caning (takes too long and the reward never turns out like it's supposed to), but I like to do marbled natasha beads. Your cane ones are wonderful!
Very nice Cindy! I just discovered your tutorials. The Natasha beads are amazing. I love the one with the Angel in the center. Wow! I will try your technique right now!
Have not done Natasha beads just found your video on them as I was viewing some of your video's they sure look great and fun to make hope to give them a try when I get a bit more experience with polymer clay, thank you for sharing! Liz x
Hi Helen Peckett, this UA-cam channel is full of polymer clay tutorial videos. If you click on my face you will see all the videos there. (100+ videos in the channels so far.) I also have wonderful tutorials that you can buy at my blog (link in description) that will take your polymer clay skills even further. Have fun!
Only ever made bear or critter noses from polymer clay. Have been watching videos and think I will re-purpose my pasta maker to use for polymer clay. Thank you for the tutorials and the inspiration. Cheers.
Hi Cindy, thanks for this lovely video. yes I have done some Natasha beads,( but not with cane ends.) they always come out amazing, but yours are such a twist (pardon the pun) on the original, and so vibrant. will be trying this way. Love seeing you in person. XXX
Thanks so much for this video. I had heard of natasha beads, but it's been a long time. I have a lot of scrap clay that this will be great for. I haven't worked with my polymer clay in a while, but this has really renewed my interest (although I've been wanting to get back to it for a long time), especially with my recent love of making jewelry. I will definitely be using this technique to make some beautiful pendants and cabochons to utilize in my beaded jewelry. EXCELLENT VIDEO. Thanks again.
Hi Cindy, It's Linda K. The bead that ended up with the winged woman is amazing and beautiful! Did you notice that the lower part of your demonstration bead at about 6:15 on the video looks a bit like Edvard Munch's "The Scream?" I've never been moved to WANT to make a Natasha bead before. Now I'm feeling the inspiration!
Great video. I just made my first butterfly cane which distorted when I reduced it (cane was to flat and wide) and ruined the pattern. I'm going to give this a try. Thanks!
Hi Cindy I have been using my scrape canes and pieces to make what I called raw shock. Designs ... Never new they had a different name .... One of mine looked like a princess's and one looked like a wolf ..... When I do a vender show ,I ask people what do they see in the pendant ... You should hear the responses I get . The best one was a pendant that looked like Moses..... Safti
Thanks so much for all your tutorials. I am new to polymer clay and just finished my first necklace with matching bracelet last night. I thought it turned out pretty well for my first one. I subscribed to your site so I can continue to glean from your experience. The hardest part of making my beads was getting the holes centered so I was wondering if there was an easier way to do it. Thanks again!
Hi grandmarules2011 Thanks for the compliments and so glad you are enjoying the tutorials! As far as getting the holes straight there are a few tips on my blog polymerclaytutor.com Just type bead holes into the search box and you will find some helpful information there.
Excellent. Thanks for sharing. I am new to polymer clay, so no I have not made one of these types of beads. The bake time for the thicker bead is longer. Is there any tips for that process.
I made a cross necklace using Natasha matching up sections and slicing them thin with silver and translucent over white it turned out nice my problem is my 6 year old granddaughter brakes the thorns off the crown at the top! I have to replace them and rebake!!😊
Thank you for sharing your talent and helpful tips. I'm new to clay. Been watching many videos. I love how quickly n thoroughly you explain. You're awesome!

I came up with that same technique on my own using strips of different colors, but never thought to use cane ends. Absolutely beautiful! Thank you.
Wow what a beautiful use of scrap bits!
Those look so beautiful! I can't believe how straightforward the technique is. Totally do-able.

One of my most favorite things to do with scraps! Thank you Cindy!
You are so welcome Cynthia! 💖
I've used natasha beads to make several pendants using the "chop and toss" method. I'll try using old canes very soon!
That's brilliant! Thanks for all the wonderful things you share and your dedication to this wonderful art form. You're an inspiration.
Yes, thanks. Will experiment with different clays and different pressures :)
Very nice! I'm new at bead making and have done the mixed colored beads. I needed a new Ideal and you just gave me one. Thank You, Pam
Thanks for the tutorial on Natasha beads, will be making some really cool beads real soon.

Thank you Madj Reyes for saying that! You are very kind!
Simply chopped up different colors of clay made a long then I twisted it worked out just fine!
Yes of course the scraps will work! The fun thing about using a cane is the fine details that you can get, but what ever way you do it is great!
Awesome tutorial, thank you so much!
i love this! Will have to make canes just so I can have leftovers for this!
