Luka has never been good defensively, but that’s not why their losing. Celtics are just much more talented. I thought it was crazy some of these analyst were picking the mavericks in 7.
A few of them said 5 and 6 too
They aren’t getting easy buckets from Gafford or lively like they’ve been all playoffs. I did notice one thing I’d change. PJ seems to be able to toss alley hoops to lively. I’d work them down lower thru PJ instead of Luka

Luka plays very similar to Rockets Harden. He plays pg so he can have the ball more, stepback 3s, eats up the clock, and If he doesn’t have an opening he’ll kick out at the last second for an assist. I do think he can change as he kinda has up until this series.
Celtics defense is suffocating. Gafford and Lively can't get open anymore so what can luka do? They aren't bigs that can shoot like Horford and KP

Yo people are overreacting! We all know Celtics was the better team. Mavs were the underdog team cuz no one expected them to make it this far. Celtics literally have 4 all-stars and great role players like Derrick White/Al Horford.
ESPN didn’t have the Mavs as an underdog.. of the 17 people/“experts” they had give predictions, 9 said the Mavs were gonna win.
UA-cam polls for each game with thousands of votes consistently had Mavs favored.

Defense would make that less of an issue. Jeez...they are targeting him and being very successful with it. The celtics purposely involve him on every action no matter who is involved on the celts team. That's how you get more scoring. If Luka was at least competent on defense that's not an issue. The video explicitly lays this out.

boston played only 2 quarters of great offensive basketball this series. game 1 the 1st quarter & game 3 the 3rd quarter. Defensively they have played 12 quarters of great basketball & that's why they are up 3-0.

I think JB will win because he does pick up Doncic on the defensive end. It’s all about matchups really. That’s JB’s defensive assignment and he happens to be the Mavs star player KYrie too. For example if it was Boston vs. Phx, Tatum would be matched up against KD and would easily win Finals MVP. It’s just Tatum doesn’t have a star studded matchup to guard defensively

Do u know how hard is to average 30pts triple double and then play elite defense on the other side? Everyone always knew Luka isn’t a good defender so what’s the issue now? I think the bigger issue is coaching!! Mavs were on 20 - 2 and Kidd called time out. Why is Tim hardaway jr getting inconsistent minutes? Why is Derrick jones jr is playing so many minutes? Why isn’t Jaden Hardy getting more minutes? Why isn’t Markief Morris playing?

It’s an oversimplification from the brain dead media to say Luka can’t play defense. He certainly can. When he decides to play defense, he’s an above average defender. The problem is he’s complaining and pouting instead of playing defense too often. But I wouldn’t expect anyone who thought the Mavs were going to win the finals to pick up on anything actually basketball related.

While I can understand's Perk's energy, the fact is, people put too much stock in the mavericks in the first place. They are far more of a cinderella story than anything else. They beat the first seed, then they beat the 3rd seed who had just eliminated the defending champs.
Nobody really had them coming out of the second round. And the unrealistic expectations the media has had with them vs boston is laughable. The Mavs had maybe a 5% chance of winning this series. And boston has shown why.
A interview mid series? This will be epic and legendary if they pull off the comeback but I know it’s not gone happen

As a Boston fan... Luka isn't 100%.. as a basketball player myself.. when I'm playing with injuries it really affects my game.. I become hesitant thinking I will get hurt worse... his knee isn't 100% and for me that would definitely impact my game negativity on both sides of the ball

I dont think JB is a lock at all, JT has played amazing in two games and poorly in one.
JB was amazing in two and good in the third. So hes my favorite right now but saying a lock is crazy question even. Its close if you consider how much defensive attention JT draws. Game 2 JT switched it to easy mode for his teammates, set up so many wide open shots
Why is this a thing NOW? Luka is not a great defender and I suspect he is injured. They are losing mainly for their offense.
