  • Want a golf course lawn? Watch this.
    In this video, ill show you a fertilizer that is used on PGA tour golf courses and NFL playing fields. The fertilizer we’re using today is called earthworks 8-2-2 and it is a blend of ammonium sulfate and composted chicken manure. This fertilizer is the perfect combo of ingredients to produce the darkest green grass possible. The ammonium sulfate in this fertilizer will lead to a fast green up followed by the the darkest green grass your lawn can possibly have. The chicken manure in this fertilizer is a great organic fertilizer because it’s a complete fertilizer containing all 3 macronutrients your lawn needs to be healthy. Chicken manure also leads to a long lasting green color that will last longer than all the other commons fertilizers like Scotts which contains synthetic nitrogen.

      Natural fertilizer is always better. My grandma had pigs chickens and goats, when its time to clean the floor cage the water and manure just wash off right behind fruit trees and the grass. The grass is always lush all year long for cows and goats to feed and fruits for us to to snack on. Everything was a never ending cycle.

    Great Video George. Chicken manure is a great fertilizer that’s been used for years on grass. The problem though is the odor that comes after watering. I used a product on my lawn called Chickity Doo Doo. Man did it green up the lawn. I used it for a couple of seasons until the neighbors started to complain about the odor. It was bad. So I stopped using it to keep peace. My wife hated it too. Was the odor bad from this product after watering it in? Neighbors are always a problem when using these types of fertilizers because of the odor that comes with them.

    looks like a very good product EXCEPT for the dreaded "organic" label. This is really expensive stuff when you figure in shipping costs. I have 11000 square feet and so a bag of regular fertilizer i use has 45# and its shipped free. I usually have 8-10 pounds left over that i can use in the next application. So what normally costs 65 to 70 dollars roughly double for this stuff. Its something to keep in mind but not worth it based on cost vs. result basis.

      @@pdureska7814I used seed world for 5 50lb bags for $285 shipped. A lot yes. You need to look into the ingredients. I have high sodium content in my soil. Some organic fertilizers like earthworks do not have the high sodium content like synthetic fertilizer does. Using synthetic adds to my high sodium content. Then I need to counter that with gypsum and aeration. I have 25K of treatable turf so this choice is tough as well. After one application of the 8-2-2 my front has looked better and more full than it ever had. Price sucks but results don’t. Also look for a distributor close to you! How much of AMS do you spray per 1000sqft? And how often?

    • @LegendaryLawnCare89
      @LegendaryLawnCare89 3 місяці тому

      @@3rdyellow For your initial application of AMS, I recommend using a half rate of 0.2 lbs in 1-2 gallons of water per 1,000 sq.ft. every 1-2 weeks. This recommendation is to account for any overlapping and excessive water usage caused by lack of experience with the sprayer. Initially, dissolve the AMS in a gallon of hot water and ensure that the strainer screen is in place before adding the dissolved AMS into the sprayer. Any undissolved particles should be caught by the strainer to prevent clogging. After adding the dissolved AMS to the tank, top up with cold water, replace the lid, shake well, and check the nozzles for any blockages before use.
      With practice, you should be able to reduce the carrier (water) usage to approximately 1 gallon per 1,000 sq.ft if your sprayer is properly calibrated. Assess the lawn the next day to see how even the coverage was and make any adjustments if needed for the next application. Apply the foliar fertilizer in the morning, as plants absorb more at this time (or the evenings if you can't spray in the AM), and allow the AMS to sit on the lawn for 3-4 hours before watering the fertilizer in. Once comfortable, you can gradually increase the AMS application to 0.3 - 0.4 lbs per 1,000 sq.ft and reduce the carrier amount based on the sprayers calibration.

    • @LegendaryLawnCare89

    Funny thing is that I have been thinking about using Chicken Liter on my lawn as that is what both my parents and grandparents used to use as fertilizer on their lawns. Chicken Liter was used long before these synthetic fertilizers of today. My lawn is low in both P & K in the back so based. My last soil test analysis recommended 10-10-10 throughout the growing season to correct the P&K Deficiency. I have within the last week thrown out Lesco's Carbon Pro G but if my soil analysis in the Fall or next Spring comes back with yet another deficiency will try this product out.

    I have another urea/blue def experiment idea. Where does the 0.15 lb of N per 1k sq ft come from? What if you do an experiment where you have a bunch of strips of grass and on one strip you do a rate of 0.1 lb/1k sq ft, the next 0.2, the next 0.3 and so on until you start to do too much. So the full range of too little all the way to too much will be represented and you can judge for the most effective rate to get the best results using your application technique. You could even repeat the same test when applying in very hot weather vs cool weather to see if that has an effect.
