Jesus, that’s almost a reason to convert immediately! I’m shaken and floored in anticipation. I’ll be travelling to Oman soon and shall bring tons of Arab cook books. ❤❤❤
We also enjoy these cookies during Eid here in Malaysia. They're known locally as Arab cookies, sugee, or biskut makmur (a localized mispronounciation of ma'amoul, but in Malay it means 'prosper').
This kahk recipe is amazing. I Made it with gluten free flour and it was still AMAZING. Even my mom love it, and that says A LOT!! thank you for sharing your recipe!!
your channel is amazing. Thank you for teaching everyone how to make traditional Middle Eastern dishes. I am happy to share your videos with my friends
Hi Obi, I made the kahk with all 3 flavors and they were all a hit with friends and family. They were delicious and tasted even better after a few days. Thank you very much for all your detailed recipes
Love your channel and your videos, Obi. Just one question, though. The Chinese tailed pepper you mentioned in the kaak seasoning recipe, is it the spice that's called kabbaba in Arabic?
Hi, I want to make some with pistachio, but I don’t know which filling to replace them with. I don’t love dates so l think I’m gonna go with that one. Can I make the pistachio filling just like the walnut one, but with pistachios ? Would it combine well with the sesame ? Or which filling should I do with pistachios ? Thank you for the recipes I love them and it’s very nice to have the opportunity to mix in some different and interesting food in my day. 🥧
Hi there..thank you for having the recipes in grams... i have quite a number of questions if you don't mind answering them..1.what's the difference between using baking powder and dry yeast.. I noticed that a lot of other Kakh recipes uses dry yeast..2. Can I use maamoul mold to shape the dough? 3. i can't find any kakh seasoning and also mahlab and the chinese pepper in my country too so what should I do? and lastly when you whipped the cold ghee to make the dough, is the ghee came out straight from the fridge. Thank you!
Thank you very much, that means a lot to me. It depends on the temperature of your kitchen, I keep mine on the counter. If the weather gets hot enough that the ghee melts into a liquid again, then I store it in the fridge. There's no preservatives in this ghee but it should last about 3 months.
Hey Zee, in the UK we have many types of Set Honey and this was one of them. Set honey forms, when the honey contains a high amount of pollen, wax and propolis and is a good sign that honey is raw and natural. You can of course use any honey for this recipe, but we like the texture and flavour of set honey at home.
I am trying to make them for this eid. insha'Allah they will turn out good. I have a question though, how long before can i bake them? Do they go stale or dry if i would bake them 2 days before eid?
This looks absolutely delicious!!😋 I was looking for a good recipe and this came right on time. Are there any substitutes for the powdered white sugar for decoration on top ?!
Hi Eiman, the white sugar on top is necessary as there isn't much sugar in the fillings or the cookies themselves. If you're worried about it being too sweet, you can always dust less on. Keep in mind you're probably going to use 2 tablespoons of sugar on 20 cookies, so it isn't really that much per cookie.
Thank you so much, I ended up making it during Eid and turned out awesome!! The perfect texture! Will defo give it another try some other time in sha Allah
I've checked with Green Valley in Edgware Road and they sell it. You could also make it at home using the blend I mention in the description box. If you are missing any of the seasonings, then just leave it out or substitute for another spice you like.

Hello obi. Love the channel. Quick question, do you store your ghee in the press or fridge after you made it?
