Cause Native Instruments think people who use Abelton and Logic Pro don’t want to use the plethora of samples and effects and instruments that Logic Pro comes with, or the Ableton’s Push 3 and plethora of sounds and instruments that comes with Ableton. NI thinks those DAW users want to fork out a couple more hundreds on a Komplete Ultimate suite, then fork out a couple more hundreds for one of these Midi controllers that only has 8 rotary knobs ( no pads; no faders, no touch screens). I mean there is a class of producers that would do that; only they use MASCHINE!!! People who mostly produce with Kontak instruments are using Maschine!!😡

This is really intuitive. Would be great if you could demonstrate in another episode on how to integrate Kontrol S with any hardware synth or hardware drum machine, and on how to map both Kontakt and the external devices simultaniously.
Please make the keyboard be able to show the names of all device parameters in Ableton (and also be able to switch between them) like how the Ableton Push or Novation SL Mk3 keyboard does it.
Hello everyone from Germany 🙌 I spent a year messing around with AI, creating different music with it... and in the end, all these experiments led me to the conclusion that music should be created by a person and his soul, not AI. I chose S61. My path begins here and now! I wish all beginners like me good luck and strength in exploring the world of music.🤞
Reading your post I wondered why you experimented with AI in the first place. AI for music isn't there yet but AI is learning extremely fast. Give it some time and I'm convinced it get's at some point that it's hard to tell if it is AI generated or not.

I'm having trouble loading multiple instruments simultaneously to layer/blend (similar to how Brain does with the string and brass ensembles around 16:30) . After clicking browser to load a new instrument, my display is only showing effects such as Raum , Phasis, Replika etc. What am I doing wrong?
Really wanting this. I have the Applied Acoustics and Arturia and have an old Novation controller that I'm sick and tired of mapping. This looks like it would be a joy to play with these plugins in Live.
Just got mine yesterday and I've been having a blast with it. The only note I would have is that I'm not sure I can use it properly live. Because, as far as I can see, there is no way to load several plugins SEPERATELY. You can merge them, but you can't switch between them. Not when Kontakt 7 is running and not in Komplete Kontrol. If I play live, I usually have to switch between at least 2 sounds per song, usually more. So that would have been a helpful feature. I know you can switch instruments using a daw, but that's a bit clumsy to do on the go. Plus it means moving pass several instruments to get to the one you want. What really would have been amazing is if we could have Kontakt running, load up all the instruments we want to use and assign them to their channels, then use the top buttons to switch between them on the fly. If that is an option now and I just didn't realise it, I'd appreciate if someone could tell me how to do it. If it's not an option now, seems to me like it's something you guys can maybe add in a firmware update? But all in all - especially for using in your home studio - this keyboard is an absolute killer!
I just bought a MK3 s49 last night specifically to use the aftertouch capabilities together with my Maschine and I'm extremely disappointed to find it out that there is no Maschine Integration. The DAW controls don't even work. This is a major mistake and I hope you guys prioritize and fix this in an upcoming update or tbh I may have to take it back. And for the record I love your products. I've been a Maschine user ever since MK1 to the MK3. We are committed to your products and you guys should be too.
Just got my S61. What a gorgeous instrument. The screen is beautiful, crisp, large. The LED lighting is beautiful with support for so many colors. After owning the MK2 version, I’m finding using the screen more now and forgetting there’s PC. I’ve only spent a little bit of time, but hoping NI does more to improve efficiency of finding sounds. With over 60K presets to chose from, hoping for even more filtration/sorting/navigation improvements. Also, hoping other plug-in developers, like UVI jump on board with NKS2!
I upgraded too but checked my both mk2 and MK3, I’m confuse…The keys sound very low (not like sound but like range) when I press my fingers on them. for example with Genos or MK2 from mid-range the sound appeared. on the MK3 there are times when the notes do not sound unless they are pressed all the way down. MK3 it’s setting in default key not hard1 or 2… I'm not a maestro but I've been playing the piano for about 20 years and I've never seen anything like this on any other model. I understood that it has aftertouch technology, but Roland also has it and the keys sound even if they are not pressed all the way down. I was trying aftertouch off but the same issue - any suggestion? i feel like going back to my mk2…

This is a great video!!! I learned a few things I didn't know😁😁! If there is a way to give us access to the Expansion kits in Kontrol software that would be amazing!! Being able to have the entire sample pack laid out over the 16 keys would be a game-changer!! The one shot and loop access is cool and glade you mentioned in the video!
There is a way to do this using Battery in Kontrol software. If you select Battery, you can then filter by Banks which would be all of the Expansions you have installed. When you load any of the presets, it loads a 4x4 grid of the kit in Battery
nice, how is the keybed on the new keyboards? is stiff and clunky where you have to press all the way to get sound like the akai keyboards? im looking for a keybed that does require too much pressing for quarter notes in middle eastern music@@NativeInstruments
Got mine today ..again... musicians friend may have sent me one 3 weeks ago and it needed sent back to ni.. but all is well i will be extremely satisfied as soon as i can use it with my maschine mk3 and software ..really couldn't do much because i had to put cubase back on pc and i got to call them tomorrow to get new licenses but i know you guys are working on a update...i guess you didnt realize how much we use maschine software and the maschine mk3 but its ok you guys have a great track record with me ive been down since 2018 and i have ultimate 14 and tons of exp for maschine , you guys are the best...just hurry and make it right lol
I think it's geared towards those that DON'T use Maschine, but if you ARE a Maschine user, that thing is a hard "no" instantly! If it added pads and everything else, and KEPT the Maschine integration, then l'd consider it an upgrade instead of an alternative controller for those using any DAW but Maschine.
How can the visually impaired activate the accessibility feature on this series? On the MK2 it was Shift + Mixer but there’s no mixer button on this one @NativeInstruments
Unfortunately accessibility features are not yet available on the Kontrol S-Series MK3 but please rest assured they will be rolled out in the coming months.

I just bought one of these but it ended up being a defective unit so i sent it back and received a replacement. Now my question is... Why did the first one show the serial number on the screen when i first powered it up but this new replacement doesn't show the serial on the screen like the first one??? 🤷🏽 Please help!! 🙏🏽
When I put the KS Mk3 into the Control Surface Slot..and then try to add DAW CONTROL it isn't an option it has Kontrol S88 Mk 3 and Port 2 and Port 3 but no DAW option? : / ANd my Keyboard is not controlling the transport? : ) Any ideas on how to handle this? : )
I Just purchased the S61 MK3 and when I select the Komplete Kontrol S MK3 as my control surface the drop down boxes for the input / output do not have a “DAW” option as shown in this video. Instead, my three input/output options are “KONTROL S61 MK3”, “KONTROL S61 MK3 (port 2) & “KONTROL S61 MK3 (port 3). Am I missing something?
This was (at least for me) the typical problem when the MK3 was directly attached to the computer. I could solve this by adding a separate power supply and connectiong the keyboard via USB-A to a hub.
I can save everyone else the trouble, you want it on port 2 for DAW controls, NI changed it or did not bother to point out its different on windows and could not be bothered to update the docs or video.
Very well presented however my new NI Kontrol S49 M3 seems to be stacked on the series number screen. It reads the following! Welcome! Add your serial in Native Access. I have done that and still the Kontrol S49 still stacked on this screen. Support is absolutely "Zero" and I'm really upset to the fact that I bought this. Can you help?

I wish that my keyboard was doing the same things you are doing with such ease. I can't get the play assist to work at all. The only button on the left side that seems to work is the shift button, settings midi and arrow buttons

This is a great kbd, nice improvements, I dont regret the upgrade from my 61 mkII. I prefered the touch feel of the keys of the mkII though, but not a problem, I guess it is due to the polyphonic aftertouch that makes the keys touch softer on the mkIII. Thxs NI for the good work and all the free sounds/plugins that came with it. Definitely worths the price!
Does Play Assist still only work in conjunction with Komplete Kontrol plugin or does it now also work for Kontakt, Reaktor and NKS-compatible 3rd party plug-ins?
Currently, Play Assist is available when Komplete Kontrol software is in use, but rest assured we're working on implementing Play Assist on device at the moment.
I see many people are not happy about the lack of maschine integration. Personally that doesn’t bother me because I don’t actually use maschine, only the expansions. I don’t even open maschine software anymore, I use the expansions in battery 4. 🎹
I wanted a master controller with PAT, MPE, and MIDI 2.0 for my hardware synths...and now after getting the mk3 s61 I find out I can't even assign midi channels. Should I just return it?

Hi at the 6.37 min part of the video I don't have input and output lighting up on my Ableton window like he has and my keyboard isn't picking up anything out of the native access library ive downloaded the keyboard is still only showing my serial number please help me someone.
So many home runs on this one. The display is absolutely gorgeous. The NKS integration is so refined that I might actually use Arturia vst’s in Komplete Kontrol rather using Analog Lab for preset adjustment. The play assist features makes me so happy that I might forget wishing I had taken music lessons as a kid. The polyphonic aftertouch is also a great addition. And then NI reminds us of why people get so irritated with them. You’ve heard this probably thousands of time at this point, but do you honestly believe we’re going to adjust our daw mixer settings with knobs? Where are the faders? Good grief guys you’ve had years to work this out! If you were Apple I’d say you were trying to maintain ‘The Aesthetic’ or Form Over Function, no matter what people want. Jeez take a lesson from Arturia and their layouts, or Novation, or about a billion Chinese knockoff brands. Faders guys faders.

At 16.17 you discuss creating a layered Multi in Kontakt... but how does a user take the individual instruments of a Multi and create splits/zones and/or velocity triggering using those layers? I've looked online extensively but there is no in formation or clarity as to how this is done? It's such an expensive controller keyboard surely this simple operation is possible easily?
+1. I love the possibilities that this keyboard has for live playing but have seen so little info as to how good it handles: splits/layers, load times (i know depends on library etc), "setlist" type functionality similar to Montage, Kronos, Fantoms etc. I know this is possible with Mainstage, Gig Performer but if this can all be housed internally within Komplete Kontrol (or other) then laptop screen can be closed and set off stage etc. that would be incredible. NKS is a true Godsend. Now help with the live playing component as well, or put something out that shows what is possible with the mk3 on stage
Hi @native instruments, When layering multiple kontakt instruments right from the keyboard, I dont have the option to add effects right from the keyboard. Is this a design choice? Or am I missing something here?
Got mine 3 weeks ago from musicians friend but it supposedly was a demo that didn't work so had to send it back sending new one today should have it next week. I'm regretting it now that I had time to marinate and realize it may be awhile or never for them to update to work with my maschine software..even if I switch my workload to cubase again it's not supported yet

I just received my MK3 S61, and I have done the setup and installation. I have the latest Arturia V Collection X, and I don't get the same graphic background that you get in the video. I just have a black screen with white diagonal lines for things like the CS80 V4, ACID, etc. however the Augmented Instruments look like they work just fine. Is there something I am missing?
Nice Video, thank you. I switched from Komplete Kontrol M32 to S49 MK3 keyboard. With the M32 as DAW control for Ableton live I can scrub through the track with the jog wheel, this doesn't work with the S49. Any idea why?

I upgraded from the s49 mk2 to the s49 mk3 but I cannot find a Komplete Kontrol plugin in Live 11 or the shortcut on my desktop. What am I missing? The Kontakt 7 vst works fine btw
When pressing the second knob, I can't navigate to pedals. The only thing visible is "Keybed" with two arrows on either side. Can't wrap my head around it since I can't find the right knob to navigate to pedals. If I press Settings I only move on. If I press on I only wind up in "Access MIDI Template and I don't want to mess with those things.
Is there a way to create ‘songs/live sets’ from Komplete so that you can use the keyboard itself to advance from preset to preset as you’re playing live?
Hello I tried update again and again but the updater software still said below error message "Your Kontrol S MK3 failed to boot into firmware update mode and could not be properly updated. To boot your kontrol s mk3 into firmware update mode, please power-cycle it and click retry" Please help to solve this issue. Thank you
You could use that type of cable but it may not provide enough power (The display will indicate if there's not enough power). If that's the case, you would connect an additional USB-C power supply to the other USBC port on the keyboard
iv done everything right as he shows in the video but when it comes to loading kontact in my daw i cannot use the browser option on the keyboard, its just stuck on DAW mode.. i cant even use it when i open up the stand alone appications.. and like he shows in the video when he doing the DAW configurations, in my abletons input and output i doesnt come up s61 mk3 daw , its comes up saying s61 mk3 port 1 and 2 . A re there any videos on how to sort this problem. i basically cannot use this keyboard untill i i sort the issue
This is a typical problem when the keyboard is connected directly. The same happened here. After buying an additional power supply and connecting the MK3 via a USB-A hub, everything works as expected.

I've got this controller, but it refuses to "recognise" half-pedaling dampers? Set it to use one and the pedal doesn't work at all, set it to switch mode and the pedal works?? Bug in the OS?

I already have...all they did was point me to the setting up pedals tute, all of which I have followed to the letter. To give another example, when you go to page two of the pedal MIDI setup, the sustain pedal is set to CC11?? Should be 64, even if it is half-pedaling. anyhoo if you contact the NI team I am sure they can share my emails. @@NativeInstruments
Hi! The Kontrol S-Series MK3 keyboards are MIDI controllers that require a computer. However, you can connect it to any MIDI device (like a hardware synth) and use the keyboard as a standalone MIDI controller.
Ive bought the s88 last sunday. Ive been looking for the manuel and couldn't find it. Finally a vid with more in depth information though this video but where can I find the manuel?!? Also more info about how the DAW integration works would be very very appreciated. But than again, I'm human, maybe its somewhere on the NI website, if so, please tell me where
The weighted key's are great, the light guide good, the screen very good and the way how it display's all functions also great. But as my formal reaction tells, there is still so much unclear for me

First of all, I have to say that I am astonished that a MIDI controller valued at over a thousand euros does not come with the necessary cable to connect it. That being said, I saw in the video that they use a USB-C host cable that fits perfectly into the round port on the keyboard. Where can I find this cable? Thank you.

I've been using a maschine mk3 and recently bought a komplete s61 mk3. I'm very disappointed. Opening the Maschine 2 software doesn't provide keyboard integration, except for the MIDI setup. Are you joking? What's the purpose of having this gorgeous screen if I still need to refer to the Maschine 3 and manually adjust all the settings? I want to be able to control every instrument with my komplete s61. It's just not making sense to me.
interested in buying either this or the mk2. I have extensive NI software. I wanted to know the advantages of this over the mk2 Other than the poly aftertouch and screen? i use ableton primarily, but i like to sketch ideas in Maschine. is NI planning on updates for things we dont know about yet, lol. is there i reason i should spend the extra money for the mk3? i am Not being sarcastic, i just want to buy the right keyboard..i am wanting to buy one of them
I’m watching this video again with a different perspective. My s61 mk2 is now acting up. It’s still under warranty though sweetwater. I’m now considering trading for the mk3. I’m in the minority that doesn’t need maschine integration. I just want to use the expansions and my other collector’s edition plugins. I’m hopeful that I would have the newer keyboard longer than another mk2. As long as I can control cubase 13, studio one, and logic 10, I’ll be fine. Not quite ready to totally turn away from NI just yet. The sound quality/quantity still remains unmatched, for my usage anyway. 🎹♥️
Is there a reason why there seems to be absolutely no keyboards that both control NI instruments AND ableton instruments (Push style) or have I missed something?
So for lack of any actual list of relevant DAW's being listed in the description as stated in the video I am left wondering what use this keyboard series has with only a handful of DAW's being able to use it? I hate Ableton with a passion and will not use it or any other DAW that is not fully customizable. Right now that is Reaper 7, SoundBridge or Waveform Pro 13. Playing favorites with DAW's is an exercise in futility and also one that will make me steer clear of any other NI offerings! Where is this list of DAW's?!

Is there anyway I can play this directly to a speaker that had a MIDI in or an amp with a 1/4 connector (using a midi out to 1/4 conversion cable)? I just want to be able to play this like a normal instrument without running through a laptop. I understand that MIDI output usually only sends strictly MIDI commands; however, since this appears to have local synths installed I was wondering if that noise gets passed through to the MIDI out?

The issue is the play assist only works in Komplete Control, you can't just use it as the video implies and how things like arp have worked on keyboards and midi controllers for the last 30-40 years. You see the "NI instrument experience" is to only work fully with a special NI plugin. Don't mistake it for an actual midi controller, those have faders.
none of my expressions pedals are working on my new MK3. I already contacted the support, but there has been no answer until now. It is a little frustrating since my pedals work with very basic midi devices and not with the "amazing" Kontrol Mk3. any help?
@@NativeInstruments I've tested 2 of them, M-Audio EX-P Expression Pedal and the Fender Tread-Light Volume/Expression Pedal, again both works just fine on other controllers. Thanks for the quick response, by the way.

I can see that no midi signal is coming from the expression pedal at all, I do have when pressing sustain pedal and any other midi parameter like keys etc... but none from the expression pedals as tip or ring, continous or switch. I try all possible combinations and still nothing.
Nice video. I'm looking around for any information on integration with Reaper. My fear is that I make a big purchase (and these keyboards aren't cheap!) only to find the basic integration (KK, Kontakt) is flawed / buggy / not there. I've come from a DAW where integration isn't great, but now I'm with Reaper, I also want to know what integration is there / planned. At the basic level we're talking about the play, metronome, loop buttons at least, but also transport, mixing etc. I suspect that integration with MK2 was ok (based on some UA-cam video). So, I need some certainty before making that big purchase please ;-)

The Mk3 keyboard is beautiful, but its software is very green, I suppose pending the release of a Maschine Daw 3 & Maschine Mk4 that complement each other well, a very forced exit. Difficult times are coming and they wanted to make their work profitable too soon.
It boggles my mind that NI is a software based compay, yet their software is sub-par. I'm deep into NI, been using it for about 5 years, but it is a constant battle within Studio One 6.5. It's definitely a love-hate relationship.
…That said, I’ll probably skip this one and get your next Komplete Kontrol keyboard. Definitely a huge fan of NI, had maschine 1, maschine mk2, mk3, on my 2nd s61,(1st one the screen died), komplete ultimate collectors edition plus a few a-la-carte expansions & plugins. 🎹

This is really intuitive. Would be great if you could demonstrate in another episode on how to integrate Kontrol S with any hardware synth or hardware drum machine, and on how to map both Kontakt and the external devices simultaniously.
Please make the keyboard be able to show the names of all device parameters in Ableton (and also be able to switch between them) like how the Ableton Push or Novation SL Mk3 keyboard does it.

Reading your post I wondered why you experimented with AI in the first place.
AI for music isn't there yet but AI is learning extremely fast. Give it some time and I'm convinced it get's at some point that it's hard to tell if it is AI generated or not.

I'm having trouble loading multiple instruments simultaneously to layer/blend (similar to how Brain does with the string and brass ensembles around 16:30) . After clicking browser to load a new instrument, my display is only showing effects such as Raum , Phasis, Replika etc. What am I doing wrong?
My S61 just arrived today. Watching this video before hand made the setup a smooth experience. IMO the keybed is an improvement over the S61 mk2's.

Really wanting this. I have the Applied Acoustics and Arturia and have an old Novation controller that I'm sick and tired of mapping. This looks like it would be a joy to play with these plugins in Live.
Just got mine yesterday and I've been having a blast with it.
The only note I would have is that I'm not sure I can use it properly live.
Because, as far as I can see, there is no way to load several plugins SEPERATELY. You can merge them, but you can't switch between them. Not when Kontakt 7 is running and not in Komplete Kontrol.
If I play live, I usually have to switch between at least 2 sounds per song, usually more. So that would have been a helpful feature.
I know you can switch instruments using a daw, but that's a bit clumsy to do on the go. Plus it means moving pass several instruments to get to the one you want.
What really would have been amazing is if we could have Kontakt running, load up all the instruments we want to use and assign them to their channels, then use the top buttons to switch between them on the fly.
If that is an option now and I just didn't realise it, I'd appreciate if someone could tell me how to do it.
If it's not an option now, seems to me like it's something you guys can maybe add in a firmware update?
But all in all - especially for using in your home studio - this keyboard is an absolute killer!
I just bought a MK3 s49 last night specifically to use the aftertouch capabilities together with my Maschine and I'm extremely disappointed to find it out that there is no Maschine Integration. The DAW controls don't even work. This is a major mistake and I hope you guys prioritize and fix this in an upcoming update or tbh I may have to take it back. And for the record I love your products. I've been a Maschine user ever since MK1 to the MK3. We are committed to your products and you guys should be too.
Please make a keyboard with memory inside.. the NI standalone! Where everyone could install its own sounds.. ❤

Just got my S61. What a gorgeous instrument. The screen is beautiful, crisp, large. The LED lighting is beautiful with support for so many colors. After owning the MK2 version, I’m finding using the screen more now and forgetting there’s PC. I’ve only spent a little bit of time, but hoping NI does more to improve efficiency of finding sounds. With over 60K presets to chose from, hoping for even more filtration/sorting/navigation improvements. Also, hoping other plug-in developers, like UVI jump on board with NKS2!
I upgraded too but checked my both mk2 and MK3, I’m confuse…The keys sound very low (not like sound but like range) when I press my fingers on them. for example with Genos or MK2 from mid-range the sound appeared. on the MK3 there are times when the notes do not sound unless they are pressed all the way down. MK3 it’s setting in default key not hard1 or 2…
I'm not a maestro but I've been playing the piano for about 20 years and I've never seen anything like this on any other model. I understood that it has aftertouch technology, but Roland also has it and the keys sound even if they are not pressed all the way down. I was trying aftertouch off but the same issue - any suggestion? i feel like going back to my mk2…

This is a great video!!! I learned a few things I didn't know😁😁! If there is a way to give us access to the Expansion kits in Kontrol software that would be amazing!! Being able to have the entire sample pack laid out over the 16 keys would be a game-changer!! The one shot and loop access is cool and glade you mentioned in the video!
There is a way to do this using Battery in Kontrol software. If you select Battery, you can then filter by Banks which would be all of the Expansions you have installed. When you load any of the presets, it loads a 4x4 grid of the kit in Battery

Got mine today ..again... musicians friend may have sent me one 3 weeks ago and it needed sent back to ni.. but all is well i will be extremely satisfied as soon as i can use it with my maschine mk3 and software ..really couldn't do much because i had to put cubase back on pc and i got to call them tomorrow to get new licenses but i know you guys are working on a update...i guess you didnt realize how much we use maschine software and the maschine mk3 but its ok you guys have a great track record with me ive been down since 2018 and i have ultimate 14 and tons of exp for maschine ,

I think it's geared towards those that DON'T use Maschine, but if you ARE a Maschine user, that thing is a hard "no" instantly! If it added pads and everything else, and KEPT the Maschine integration, then l'd consider it an upgrade instead of an alternative controller for those using any DAW but Maschine.
How can the visually impaired activate the accessibility feature on this series?
On the MK2 it was Shift + Mixer but there’s no mixer button on this one @NativeInstruments
Unfortunately accessibility features are not yet available on the Kontrol S-Series MK3 but please rest assured they will be rolled out in the coming months.

I just bought one of these but it ended up being a defective unit so i sent it back and received a replacement.

When I put the KS Mk3 into the Control Surface Slot..and then try to add DAW CONTROL it isn't an option it has Kontrol S88 Mk 3 and Port 2 and Port 3 but no DAW option? : / ANd my Keyboard is not controlling the transport? : ) Any ideas on how to handle this? : )
I Just purchased the S61 MK3 and when I select the Komplete Kontrol S MK3 as my control surface the drop down boxes for the input / output do not have a “DAW” option as shown in this video. Instead, my three input/output options are “KONTROL S61 MK3”, “KONTROL S61 MK3 (port 2) & “KONTROL S61 MK3 (port 3). Am I missing something?

This was (at least for me) the typical problem when the MK3 was directly attached to the computer. I could solve this by adding a separate power supply and connectiong the keyboard via USB-A to a hub.
I can save everyone else the trouble, you want it on port 2 for DAW controls, NI changed it or did not bother to point out its different on windows and could not be bothered to update the docs or video.
Very well presented however my new NI Kontrol S49 M3 seems to be stacked on the series number screen. It reads the following! Welcome! Add your serial in Native Access. I have done that and still the Kontrol S49 still stacked on this screen. Support is absolutely "Zero" and I'm really upset to the fact that I bought this. Can you help?

I wish that my keyboard was doing the same things you are doing with such ease. I can't get the play assist to work at all. The only button on the left side that seems to work is the shift button, settings midi and arrow buttons

This is a great kbd, nice improvements, I dont regret the upgrade from my 61 mkII. I prefered the touch feel of the keys of the mkII though, but not a problem, I guess it is due to the polyphonic aftertouch that makes the keys touch softer on the mkIII. Thxs NI for the good work and all the free sounds/plugins that came with it. Definitely worths the price!

Does Play Assist still only work in conjunction with Komplete Kontrol plugin or does it now also work for Kontakt, Reaktor and NKS-compatible 3rd party plug-ins?
Currently, Play Assist is available when Komplete Kontrol software is in use, but rest assured we're working on implementing Play Assist on device at the moment.
I see many people are not happy about the lack of maschine integration. Personally that doesn’t bother me because I don’t actually use maschine, only the expansions. I don’t even open maschine software anymore, I use the expansions in battery 4. 🎹

Hi at the 6.37 min part of the video I don't have input and output lighting up on my Ableton window like he has and my keyboard isn't picking up anything out of the native access library ive downloaded the keyboard is still only showing my serial number please help me someone.
So many home runs on this one. The display is absolutely gorgeous. The NKS integration is so refined that I might actually use Arturia vst’s in Komplete Kontrol rather using Analog Lab for preset adjustment. The play assist features makes me so happy that I might forget wishing I had taken music lessons as a kid. The polyphonic aftertouch is also a great addition. And then NI reminds us of why people get so irritated with them. You’ve heard this probably thousands of time at this point, but do you honestly believe we’re going to adjust our daw mixer settings with knobs? Where are the faders? Good grief guys you’ve had years to work this out! If you were Apple I’d say you were trying to maintain ‘The Aesthetic’ or Form Over Function, no matter what people want. Jeez take a lesson from Arturia and their layouts, or Novation, or about a billion Chinese knockoff brands. Faders guys faders.

At 16.17 you discuss creating a layered Multi in Kontakt... but how does a user take the individual instruments of a Multi and create splits/zones and/or velocity triggering using those layers? I've looked online extensively but there is no in formation or clarity as to how this is done? It's such an expensive controller keyboard surely this simple operation is possible easily?
+1. I love the possibilities that this keyboard has for live playing but have seen so little info as to how good it handles: splits/layers, load times (i know depends on library etc), "setlist" type functionality similar to Montage, Kronos, Fantoms etc.
I know this is possible with Mainstage, Gig Performer but if this can all be housed internally within Komplete Kontrol (or other) then laptop screen can be closed and set off stage etc. that would be incredible.
NKS is a true Godsend. Now help with the live playing component as well, or put something out that shows what is possible with the mk3 on stage

Got mine 3 weeks ago from musicians friend but it supposedly was a demo that didn't work so had to send it back sending new one today should have it next week. I'm regretting it now that I had time to marinate and realize it may be awhile or never for them to update to work with my maschine software..even if I switch my workload to cubase again it's not supported yet

I just received my MK3 S61, and I have done the setup and installation. I have the latest Arturia V Collection X, and I don't get the same graphic background that you get in the video. I just have a black screen with white diagonal lines for things like the CS80 V4, ACID, etc. however the Augmented Instruments look like they work just fine. Is there something I am missing?
Nice Video, thank you. I switched from Komplete Kontrol M32 to S49 MK3 keyboard. With the M32 as DAW control for Ableton live I can scrub through the track with the jog wheel, this doesn't work with the S49. Any idea why?

Hi! You should be able to set up the pedal in Komplete Kontrol's MIDI Controller panel.
That SHIFT + Scale to activate really saved me though. You have no idea
When pressing the second knob, I can't navigate to pedals. The only thing visible is "Keybed" with two arrows on either side. Can't wrap my head around it since I can't find the right knob to navigate to pedals. If I press Settings I only move on. If I press on I only wind up in "Access MIDI Template and I don't want to mess with those things.
Is there a way to create ‘songs/live sets’ from Komplete so that you can use the keyboard itself to advance from preset to preset as you’re playing live?

Pedantic question, but would a USB c to USB a cable work as opposed to using an adapter? Just trying to use what I have
You could use that type of cable but it may not provide enough power (The display will indicate if there's not enough power). If that's the case, you would connect an additional USB-C power supply to the other USBC port on the keyboard

iv done everything right as he shows in the video but when it comes to loading kontact in my daw i cannot use the browser option on the keyboard, its just stuck on DAW mode.. i cant even use it when i open up the stand alone appications.. and like he shows in the video when he doing the DAW configurations, in my abletons input and output i doesnt come up s61 mk3 daw , its comes up saying s61 mk3 port 1 and 2 . A re there any videos on how to sort this problem. i basically cannot use this keyboard untill i i sort the issue

This is a typical problem when the keyboard is connected directly. The same happened here. After buying an additional power supply and connecting the MK3 via a USB-A hub, everything works as expected.

I've got this controller, but it refuses to "recognise" half-pedaling dampers? Set it to use one and the pedal doesn't work at all, set it to switch mode and the pedal works?? Bug in the OS?

I already have...all they did was point me to the setting up pedals tute, all of which I have followed to the letter. To give another example, when you go to page two of the pedal MIDI setup, the sustain pedal is set to CC11?? Should be 64, even if it is half-pedaling. anyhoo if you contact the NI team I am sure they can share my emails.

Hi! The Kontrol S-Series MK3 keyboards are MIDI controllers that require a computer. However, you can connect it to any MIDI device (like a hardware synth) and use the keyboard as a standalone MIDI controller.
Can you no longer pull loops and one shots out of KK and directly into your DAW???

The weighted key's are great, the light guide good, the screen very good and the way how it display's all functions also great. But as my formal reaction tells, there is still so much unclear for me

First of all, I have to say that I am astonished that a MIDI controller valued at over a thousand euros does not come with the necessary cable to connect it. That being said, I saw in the video that they use a USB-C host cable that fits perfectly into the round port on the keyboard. Where can I find this cable? Thank you.

Hello i received my S88 MK3 last day, but i cannot activie my Kontrol S88 MK3 serial number. I tried to create ticket but still waiting for your reply😅
Now i can active my S88 MK3, but next issue is update firmware for my S88 MK3. First time the updater program error message said that my S88 MK3 cannot go to firmware mode and ask me to restart my S88 MK3 then click retry. I am waiting the updating more 3 min + now, it is still updating … 😂 Should i shut down my S88 MK3 and update again?

I've been using a maschine mk3 and recently bought a komplete s61 mk3. I'm very disappointed. Opening the Maschine 2 software doesn't provide keyboard integration, except for the MIDI setup. Are you joking? What's the purpose of having this gorgeous screen if I still need to refer to the Maschine 3 and manually adjust all the settings? I want to be able to control every instrument with my komplete s61. It's just not making sense to me.

I’m watching this video again with a different perspective. My s61 mk2 is now acting up. It’s still under warranty though sweetwater. I’m now considering trading for the mk3. I’m in the minority that doesn’t need maschine integration. I just want to use the expansions and my other collector’s edition plugins. I’m hopeful that I would have the newer keyboard longer than another mk2. As long as I can control cubase 13, studio one, and logic 10, I’ll be fine. Not quite ready to totally turn away from NI just yet. The sound quality/quantity still remains unmatched, for my usage anyway. 🎹♥️
Is there a reason why there seems to be absolutely no keyboards that both control NI instruments AND
ableton instruments (Push style) or have I missed something?
So for lack of any actual list of relevant DAW's being listed in the description as stated in the video I am left wondering what use this keyboard series has with only a handful of DAW's being able to use it? I hate Ableton with a passion and will not use it or any other DAW that is not fully customizable. Right now that is Reaper 7, SoundBridge or Waveform Pro 13. Playing favorites with DAW's is an exercise in futility and also one that will make me steer clear of any other NI offerings! Where is this list of DAW's?!
I would like to know if this update to play assist outside of komplete was coming soon and if you had a date? In addition, did you know when fl studio will be compatible with the keyboard because it will be written soon on your site thx !
Is there anyway I can play this directly to a speaker that had a MIDI in or an amp with a 1/4 connector (using a midi out to 1/4 conversion cable)? I just want to be able to play this like a normal instrument without running through a laptop. I understand that MIDI output usually only sends strictly MIDI commands; however, since this appears to have local synths installed I was wondering if that noise gets passed through to the MIDI out?
The Kontrol S-Series MK3 requires a laptop. It's a MIDI controller, not a standalone keyboard sorry!

@@NativeInstruments done! it's really disappointing that this product shipped without being end user ready. I have purchased several NI products and never had problems in the past. I'm very close to returning this keyboard
The issue is the play assist only works in Komplete Control, you can't just use it as the video implies and how things like arp have worked on keyboards and midi controllers for the last 30-40 years. You see the "NI instrument experience" is to only work fully with a special NI plugin. Don't mistake it for an actual midi controller, those have faders.
Any word on official Reaper support?
Tonight a brainwave: use the iPad as external screen for complet control with sidecar. Whauw! Works amzing on my mk 2!
none of my expressions pedals are working on my new MK3. I already contacted the support, but there has been no answer until now. It is a little frustrating since my pedals work with very basic midi devices and not with the "amazing" Kontrol Mk3. any help?

@@NativeInstruments I've tested 2 of them, M-Audio EX-P Expression Pedal and the Fender Tread-Light Volume/Expression Pedal, again both works just fine on other controllers. Thanks for the quick response, by the way.

@@NativeInstruments Nothing. I can see that no midi signal is coming from the expression pedal at all, I do have when pressing sustain pedal and any other midi parameter like keys etc... but none from the expression pedals as tip or ring, continous or switch. I try all possible combinations and still nothing.
Does the lightguide still only work in the Komplete Kontrol vst?
With Kontakt integration, you can make use of the light guide without the Komplete Kontrol software. Check out the Kontakt integration part at 06:57 😉

Nice video. I'm looking around for any information on integration with Reaper. My fear is that I make a big purchase (and these keyboards aren't cheap!) only to find the basic integration (KK, Kontakt) is flawed / buggy / not there. I've come from a DAW where integration isn't great, but now I'm with Reaper, I also want to know what integration is there / planned. At the basic level we're talking about the play, metronome, loop buttons at least, but also transport, mixing etc. I suspect that integration with MK2 was ok (based on some UA-cam video). So, I need some certainty before making that big purchase please ;-)
Now i can active my S88 MK3, but next issue is update firmware for my S88 MK3. First time the updater program error message said that my S88 MK3 cannot go to firmware mode and ask me to restart my S88 MK3 then click retry. I am waiting the updating more 3 min + now, it is still updating … 😂 Should i shut down my S88 MK3 and update again?

I don't buy this for the moment.
The Mk3 keyboard is beautiful, but its software is very green, I suppose pending the release of a Maschine Daw 3 & Maschine Mk4 that complement each other well, a very forced exit.
Difficult times are coming and they wanted to make their work profitable too soon.
It boggles my mind that NI is a software based compay, yet their software is sub-par. I'm deep into NI, been using it for about 5 years, but it is a constant battle within Studio One 6.5. It's definitely a love-hate relationship.
…That said, I’ll probably skip this one and get your next Komplete Kontrol keyboard. Definitely a huge fan of NI, had maschine 1, maschine mk2, mk3, on my 2nd s61,(1st one the screen died), komplete ultimate collectors edition plus a few a-la-carte expansions & plugins. 🎹
I see no way to use this as a MIDI controller for non NI plugins that use different MIDI input channels. What am I missing?
