What an absolute Legend. I suggest we all spend the next few months watching all of his work that has spanned over 5 decades. On television or the silver screen... when his movies were announced... I always made it a point to get a ticket, rent a dvd (vhs) and kick back and soak it all in. There will never be a better Bond, a Father, Officer or all around leading man. R.I.P Mr. Connery.

He's one of the few actor's who could elevate any movie he was in. For example, Highlander, First Knight, and Dragon Heart. Looking back, Finding Forester should have been where he ended his career. It would have certainly ended on a high note and turned out to be a really good and heartwarming movie.

James Bond is Scottish because of Sean Connery and not the other way around. When Ian Fleming saw Connery as Bond he gave Bond a Scottish background in later novels. Connery did an enormous favour to working-class actors in the UK as well as changing how the world saw Scots, like myself. He'll be missed but I intend to write to the Scottish parliament and push for a statue in our home city of Edinburgh. It should sit in Princes Street Garden so Edinburgh castle is seen behind it. He was more than just an actor to Scots, he brought great national pride to our nation and instilled the belief a working-class Scot could rub shoulders with the wealthiest and most important people in the world without giving up who they are or where they came from.

What a legend and for me and countless others he will always be THE James Bond. Usually when celebrities that I'm a fan of pass away it doesn't really bother me to a point where I feel overwhelming sadness but I'm not going to lie, this one got to me a bit. I've watched his Bond films hundreds of times since my father first introduced me to James Bond as a boy and his Bond films are hence extremely sentimental to me. When I became a father 9 years ago I too made sure that my daughter eventually got to know the legend that is Sean Connery's James Bond and she frequently asks to watch Goldfinger (her favourite) after which I tell her that if we do James Bond we start from the 1st movie and work our way through all of them (the Connery Bond films). I think she and I should do another Bond festival this weekend in honour of the great man. Oddly enough my daughter felt like listening to "James Bond" music this morning in the car while I was taking her to school and she browsed through my in-car flash drive to the "Best of Bond" folder and when she played the Goldfinger and Thunderball Theme songs I couldn't help getting a lump in my throat and I felt myself having to hold back a few tears. RIP Sean Connery and thank you for the memories and the nostalgia. You will never be forgotten and I will honour your memory for as long as I live.

No joke, had rewatched The Untouchables just a few days before he died, so news of his death really hit hard. He was absolutely extraordinary in that film! One of the times when the Oscars really got it right

Although he has been best known as the definitive Bond some of his best films are non bond films such as The Untouchables, Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade, The Hunt for Red October and The Rock to name a few.
His own favorite role and the one he was most proud of was in "The Man Who Would Be King" - which was based on Rudyard Kipling's famous novel of the same name. Michail Caine, who played his companion, was also the most proud of it. He also liked "Murder on the Orient Express" (the original) in which he was cast alongside a whole batch of great actors and actresses - and which was nominated for 7 Oscars. Those films will remain classics long after his "adventure roles" become passé for modern generations.

He was a true 20th century icon. My father was a huge fan and I watched my first James Bond film when I was 7 years old. I got to watch all his late 80s and 90s work in the theatre and even the bad ones were always better because he was in them. Time will not diminish the diversity of roles and risks that Sir Sean took over his career. He was a true scrapper from a bygone age who pulled himself to heights most will only imagine. He was a true 20th century icon. My father was a huge fan and I watched my first James Bond film when I was 7 years old. I got to watch all his late 80s and 90s work in the theatre and even the bad ones were always better because he was in them. Time will not diminish the diversity of roles and risks that Sir Sean took over his career. He was a true scrapper from a bygone age who pulled himself to heights most will only imagine. Rest In Peace Sir Sean, this world will not see your like again.
Wow! Going through the movie list at the end I realize I've only seen maybe a quarter of the movies he's been in. I'll have to find and see them. I had no idea he was in so many movies. Thanks.
