I’ve done this exact same trip. You need to go upriver next time on the boat. We went all the way up river to the Apache Lake dam. Stunning!! Your videos are great. I have a popup camper and tow my boat to all lakes in AZ.
@@t.g.habgood6205 That’s funny because we somehow cruised right passed the point area and were nearly to Skeleton Cave before we turned around. I had been told it was shallower up closer to the dam (passed Fish Creek?) and to watch for sand bars so we decided to turn around and head back. It was very pretty up there though!
Btw, just to clarify for everyone - the Apache trail from Canyon Lake to Apache Lake is currently closed at mile post 222, top of Fish Creek (there's a pull out near there) - to get to Apache Lake, you have to go around through the Roosevelt Dam side for the time being.
I found that out recently - I didn’t realize it had been closed in 2019 after a bad rockslide, I had several friends who apparently didn’t realize it either because we had talked about making a Jeep trip to the lake recently! I saw another video recently about that from the Drone Guy.

The road to apache lake from canyon lake is still closed from fish creek hill to five miles east.

It’s for both they have a tent area, but it’s pricey! They have a day area that’s good, but no overnight camping.
