It's originally an organ piece. I thought this quite daring really. I think one of the ladies doubled up the (organ) pedal part to thicken the texture. Works rather well, don't you think?

I mostly know this work of Bach's from Stokowski's transcription for orchestra and recordings of Biggs' organ recitals. Hearing it on this magnificent instrument, performed consummately by these lovely musicians, is to experience the work fully. The clarity of timbre and resonance of this Kennedy harpsichord is astounding. Having only ever heard harpsichords on recordings, I nevertheless feel that I have now experienced the instrument, with its inimitable and nimble voicing, for the very first time.

Exquisite! One is able to clearly hear every Voice entrance and line. Sorry tell my my organist friends that this complex masterpiece can be more clearly grasped and understood in this adaptation than in most turgid organ recordings. Biggs, Karosi, Alain, Fox and a few others have given us suitably registrated organ recordings.
