Great tips. It's for reasons like these that I'm happy my hearing aids are ITE.

Thanks so much for these tips! I have come SO close to losing a hearing aid because of those loop masks. The barrel of monkeys idea is great! :)

I wear glasses, one hearing aid AND a mask. Needless to say, the hearing aid (a RIC) got wrapped around my mask when I took it off. My soul almost left my body lol, had the thing a week and was scared to death that I'd lost a $2K device. Nope, just stuck on the loop.

I don't like wearing the masks at all with hearing aids because I don't like the non-cloth hearing aids and it has been hard to find something to clip from one side of the mask to the other I also have a visual challenge which causes me to hate them even more reason for the pandemic has gotten everyone so upset especially to hearing and just not hearing and visually impaired community we are getting upset with the fact that people don't care about us we are upset and I have had enough I have not worn a mask in months now and I have not gotten the virus at all I think it's because I have been careful who I'm around good luck to people wearing hearing aids and wearing a mask if you are still doing so high hate them and I am getting new hearing aids next week but I don't know what mine will be like because they are not online and I can't find them anyways thank you for the chips

It's even worse with cochlear implants! Because of the magnet, cable and over the ear piece, I can't fit the mask over my ears at all. Very frustrating. Nice tip about the n95 but those are very hard to breathe through. Another idea is fitting two pieces of velcro on either side of a standard fabric mask. Easy adjustablity especially for women who wear ponytails.

Any advice for those that wear glasses with our aids too? My ears hurt so bad having all that behind my ears.

Thank you so much for this advice! I am a school nurse who wears hearing aides. I have been very anxious about how I was going to return to school and wear a mask, bilateral hearing aides and glasses ... that is a lot of stuff on my ears! This isn't part of your video, but I am also struggling with how to keep my glasses from fogging up in a mask... I'd love people's suggestions on this

Hi, Maria. If you're using a surgical type mask, there may be a soft piece of metal in the top hem that you can pinch to fit a bit snugger over your nose, which should help at least a little with fogging up. I have hearing aids in both ears and wear specs and after some uncomfortable mask wearing myself, I'm now looking into mini-snoods, which you'd just pull up over your mouth and nose when needed with no need at all for straps of any kind.

HAPPENED TO ME AS I LOST ONE BECAUSE OF THE MASK BUT NEVER FOUND IT. MINE ARE PROVIDED BY THE VETERANS ADMINISTRATION (I'M RATED 40% FOR HEARING LOSS) AND IT TOOK OVER A MONTH TO GET A NEW ONE. SINCE THE VA DOES NOT YET LET US VISIT FOR APPOINTMENTS THE NEW HEARING AID CAN NOT BE PAIRED TO THE OTHER ONE AND THE REMOTE,.THIS CAUSES PROBLEMS ADJUSTING THE VOLUME SO THEY BOTH ARE AT THE SAME LEVEL. JUST SO YOU KNOW, HEARING AIDS OR NOT MY FAVORITE WORD TO MY WIFE IS..... "WHAT?"

At least 50% of the time my Starkey hearing aids fail to pair or stop being paired for no reason. Starkey blamed my phone and told me I needed a new phone. Now I have a new expensive phone I really didn't need and I am having the same problems.

The N95 mask you demonstrate on is not effective for protection of others, only the wearer. It has an exhale valve that lets unfiltered air out but not in. It is designed to filter particulates for the wearer. Otherwise the strap configuration works a demonstrated.

It is amusing how poor (echo-y) the acoustics are in the room where this video was recorded :-)

I found the music very distracting and couldn't hear the soft spoken speaker. If I turned the volume up the music was still dominating the video. I had to mute the video and read the captions instead which of course takes your eyes away from the demonstration. This is the 3rd video about masks/hearing aids I have watched today (I almost lost my hearing aid yesterday!) which of course means the target audience is the deaf/ hard of hearing community yet every single one had unnecessary/ annoying music playing over the person talking. Why? I just don't understand it.

People with hearing aids should not have to wear mask. It's dangerous and very costly if they are lost or damaged.

If you wear ITE-type hearing aids, you can wear a mask with no worry about snagging or get tangled up. There's nothing draping over the back of your ear.
