+Alfadas96 way back during the 80s after donkey kong the acade came out universal studios sued nintendo for copyright infringement on the name because of their king kong title. so here was a multy million dollar movie company sueing a small (at the time) video game company over the only hit arcade game theyve really ever had. well in the end, lo and behold universal didnt actually have the copyright on the king kong name so it was a huge embarrassment for them and it further maorly boosted the nintendo brand. Also it was the first major lawsuit over a video game to hit the main stream. Anybody who knows anything about video game history knows about this. Maybe you should look it up instead of commentimg next time.
Well i didnt tell the whole story and i still would recommend looking it up. It was one of the defining moments that brought video games down the path its on today not to mention its really interesting so to not see it on here over a guy who was complaining about 1080p is really shocking.
Hello games have already been sued in UK, i havent got any update how it went thought. I wish they are forced to refund or add those features they promised.
Yuri Geller (famous japanese magician) sues GameFreak for creating the Pokemon "Kadabra" because Kadabra is holding a spoon, and Yuri Geller likes spoons, therefore GameFreak is copyright infringing Yuri Geller
What about the time Universal sued Nintendo? Back in the old days of the Arcade, Universal Studios brought Nintendo to court over Donkey Kong, claiming that Donkey Kong infringed on the King Kong copyright. However, Nintendo's lawyer did some digging. Universal actually had sued RKO General, legally proving that King Kong was a public domain character (and thus Universal could make it's ill fated 70's reboot of King Kong). Not only did the court side with Nintendo, they actually found that Universal licensed King Kong game actually was infringing on NINTENDO'S copyright. Oh, the lawyer in this case? His name was John KIRBY. Yes, Nintendo was so thankful for Kirby's legal defense, they named a game franchise after him.
+Meme Iselfaneye same here, i would sell that thing immediately before i did something stupid like accidentally destroy it , $28,000 is much more useful to me than a virtual sword ill probably never use
I'm actually really interested in how that Microsoft case works out. Especially if him changing it really is legal in that way. Doesn't seem like they'd leave a loophole like that in the ToS though.
I particularly found the woman that sued the company because she HERSELF tried to enchant a rare sword and lost it hillariously stupid. That was her own fault right there. I've done stupid stuff in games or had accidently threw away or spent precious lore points on the wrong item. That was no one else's fault but my own!
Suing over ideas are probably the most petty lawsuits. Ideas aren't worth jack shit. Those people were never going to make the games that their ideas were supposedly ripped off from. I get a real narcissist vibe from those people.
The Chubby Link Most great inventions are due to hard work and determination on behalf of one or many people with the determination to see a dream come alive. With 7 billion people on the planet there is not a single idea a person has had that someone else hasn't once thought before. The only difference is that one person decided to take action and the other didn't.
I’m suing gameranx, because they said “Don’t forget to click the like button.” Are you trying to insinuate I have memory loss and that I would forget to like an amazing video??? How dare you!!!
Temporal reprojection artificially doubles the framrate, by creating a frame out of two frames that are side by side. The only difference between native 1080p and reprojection is that in native 1080p all frames which are displayed are actually calculated. Temporal reprojection just fills the gaps by guessing what should be there. It's pretty accurate. each frame represents about 0.1 second maybe up to one second, but nothing much happens in that time so by making a middleframe out of the frame that comes before and after it will it will be so accurate that we simply can't notice the difference. Our eye will accept a video for example as fluently at 25 frames per second, but at about 60-80 frames per second we usually can't see a difference anymore. Anything that is much faster can't even be seen with the naked eye.
I heard something about Bungie getting sued because most of the contents of destiny were already in since the beta, but wasn't available until you bought the "DLC".
+Ignacioofcl They should get sued for showing a story 1 year prior to release which was not there at all at release. And that should specifically go to Bungie because im pretty sure Activision didnt fire a Bungie story writer and forced them to not have a story. That would be retarded even for Activision standards
That user suing a game company for his/her own missclick was the stupidiest. You make a mistake, you pay for it. Well, that $28k is not really easily forgettable, but that's how you learn.
Not really. I think that's probably the one they should have won. Doesn't change anything for anyone but the player if they had just given her the sword back.
Bethesda is being sued for $7,000 by a Russian man for emotional distress. It says that he thinks there should be warning labels on games to state that they are addictive. He says that if he had known that (Fallout 4) was so addictive he wouldn't have bought it or would have only played it on holidays. Apparently his addiction made him not sleep or eat. I didn't describe it really great but there you go. :)
I'll never sue a game company for "cheating" a certain high-resolution for lots of reasons. One of which is that I'd have to sue every single movie studio for "cheating" with video compression on their DVDs and Blu-rays like MPEG4, since they use content in the next frame that didn't change from the previous frame, but any that I present would be thrown out for the simple reason that I never play games on a high-definition TV, and therefoure would never know the difference.
The problem with the guy suing ubisoft over Assassin's Creed is hopeless, even if he worded his case better. It is almost impossible to protect vague creative ideas. How many Game of Thrones are there? How many Lord of the Rings? How many stories feature an item almost the exact same as the One Ring? He probably hoped Ubisoft would give him ten thousand dollars or something just so he'd go away.
7:15 As a person who grew up in the era of the Atari 2600 who's graphics featured pixels that were 1/4 inch across (what is that? like 4P?) makes me want to take off my fake leg and beat him with it until he stops crying because his graphics where 10 billion times better than what we got with the old Atari. The pixels were so fucking big balls were squares!
I had problems with game companys but never sued them. First game i ever played was ultima online. I owned a house on that game and 3 accounts paying for 3 years cause i was playing on the server that required seperate accounts for each character. At one point they gave out blessed weapon deed's making it so your weapon could not be looted. I put my deed in the house cause i wanted to save it for better weapon to use on. And when i stopped paying to pay for a month or 2 EA deleted the house and gm's would not give the deed back. Then later I stopped paying for all accounts again this time for like 6 months. When i came back EA deleted everything and i payed there monthly fees only to find this out. They told me the characters were deleted for inactivity and would do nothing to restore them. In monthly fee's over 3 years i spent $1640 alone and they just deleted my accounts. Another recent example of games doing this is atlantica online. I played that game in closed beta which started out as ndoors owning it. Since then the company changed 2 times but the game is still running. I decided i would play it again after not playing for years because they made a lot of changes to the game. But they deleted My character leaving my account blank. I had proof on the current company's website of my purchases totaling about $100 but they would not even give me store credit for that. Saying they didn't own the company then so not their problem. And the other company that owned it before them said according to their terms if you didn't switch account in 3 months time it was deleted. If you were not playing the game at the time you no way of knowing about this. Some people i knew were spending $30,000 a year on that game.
My friend and I were discussing this and the conversation took another step, we started talking about overall ridiculous lawsuits. It’s funny going back to an old video of yours dude. Keep it real man, it’s all we can do.
I'm surprised you didn't find some kids' parents that sued over their little kids being made catatonic from the fast strobing effects found in certain games. This photosensitive epilepsy is more common than you might imagine.
In a more recent lawsuit, Bethesda is getting sued by the Australian Government to giving Australia customers of Fallout 76 a full refund. The game was so broken at launch a country’s government had to file a lawsuit over their screwed over citizens.
No they are not. The ACCC was taking civil action against them. For which they settled out of court. The ACCC is an independent body. They are funded by the government but are run independently from them. So the government can't make the ACCC do anything. Also it was all done and dusted several months ago.

I know this dumb one. PETA sued EA because in B3's campaign you can can stab a mouse. Because killing a virtual rat is totally in humane. What's even funnier is not that many people play BF's campaign anyway
"Sir! We found out that you can stab a mouse in BF3! What shall we do?" "Let's sue them!" -PETA
I dont have battlefield 3 but aint that the mouse that bites you ?
+The Doctor you it is
Kirk Cooey why did you put an you there and thanks lol
i hate to admit it but i agree with peta in most things i dont think stabbing the mouse is okay but i wouldnt sue then ;o
Too bad we can't even count to 10 these days...
0:11 #10 Avery v Microsoft
0:57 #9 Mobster's Daughter

Did this channel just get really fucking popular?? because when i subbed it was kinda quiet at 70,000 never thought it was gonna get really big then bam 1.4 mil....good job guys
2:42 So if you make a mistake in a game, you sue the maker? WHAT THE ACTUAL!?!? I wish they wouldn't restore it for her. Just to see how far into the stupid hole this would go.
suing about a video game is childish beyond belief, grow up people
+randomeuropeanguy first of all nice name lol. Normally I'm against suing just to try to get money, but if there is false advertisement then I am for it since they are selling you something different then what was advertised.
Roger Bayless but its just a game, thats the problem, it seems a little childish to sue over something like that
randomeuropeanguy but if you think about it, if you buy a game for $60, and it is basically nothing like the description, then if the company won't refund you, I think it'll be suing-worthy.
Kyan2005 but....its a game? but maybe i guess
randomeuropeanguy would you sue a construction company for a job they promised you they could do but they did a half ass job? It's pretty much the same thing
You guys are awesome Gameranx!
People are mad!
Awesome vid guys keep them coming
I read about a guy who sued Rockstar "on behalf of the guys who made Red Dead Redemption" for having John Marston as an available parent in GTA Online's character creator. Just let that sink in for a sec.
Reminds me of Fox suing the creators of the Simpsons for making fun of Fox News on their show, the funny bit being that the creators of The Simpsons are Fox.
+Coaldust Earthpony the Simpsons ownership has been negotiated so fox does not have creative control.
LMAO!
but rockstar made red dead redemption
Abzyy bhat exactly. The guy was that stupid.
Great channel guys, keep up the good work!
Still not as good as the dude who sued redbull for not giving him wings...
+MrUnicrook im guessing thats why after the first few months the commercials started saying it doesnt actually give you wings it just an energy drink you idiots. XD
LML wait seriously!?
+MrUnicrook same reason why hand sanitizes say "kill 99.99% of germs"
3:20 I honestly hope that lady won the case, I would've done the exact same if something like that happened to me and they refused to restore the item. If they are to lazy to do that then they don't deserve to have a company. Seriously, its literally just a rewind.
Can we all join together and sue Hello Games over No Man's Sky?
Wartooth why not?
Wartooth I'll join my comrade
Make these type of videos more Gameranx!!
Where the hell is the universal lawsuit on nintendo!?!? Thats like the biggest and most important lawsuit on a video game company ever!
+William Vanniejenhuis Its is SO important that i have no idea what it is!
+William Vanniejenhuis then why'd you reply instead of just telling him to search it up himself?
Well i didnt tell the whole story and i still would recommend looking it up. It was one of the defining moments that brought video games down the path its on today not to mention its really interesting so to not see it on here over a guy who was complaining about 1080p is really shocking.
+William Vanniejenhuis I expected it to be at #1. I asked myself the same thing at the end of the video.
Your videos are really good :D
did he say 4 twice. pretty sure he did?
Yep he did
did he?
yep I noticed that too
Yeah, I was looking for a comment that mentioned this
+Rcdevil1 The 4 probably fell out of place.
fall out 4
Man yesterday was the first time I came across your channel and I just got to say I really enjoy your vids man good job
Anybody else notice that he put #4 twice?
he did?
+Sean Dennis 4:55 & 5:24
Lol well it's a top 11 now
If I was a judge for a courtroom, none of these would have made it into said courtroom
I could of sworn the lydnsey Lohan vs Rockstar would have been on here
I study WW2 for fun and especially love Patton, I'm pretty sure he'd be ashamed and angered by what the people "representing" him did
He also had wanted to send nukes at the Chinese during the Korean War so he was definitely a mixed bag. Good at his job just not politics.
@@fiyahquacker2835 that was MacArthur
The people that deal this shit..... its a money game. No more, no less. I wish whatever judges that are on these cases..... aren't actually sane.
ikr
gameranx you be growing fast ahaha
A 68yr woman playing Lineage?
Remember, we live in a world where "caution, Contents may be hot" has to be put on cups which contain HOT COFFEE...
When is no man's sky gonna get sued
Hello games have already been sued in UK, i havent got any update how it went thought. I wish they are forced to refund or add those features they promised.
My second video on your channel and.... I'm a fan!
here take a fishy stick!
I'm surprised that nobody has ever sued over Skyrim
For what?
+The Chubby Link
maybe because they used to be an adventurer like you. then they took an arrow to the knee. seems like a good reason to sue.
Have you had an accident at work? Call accident claims direct now!
EA is on this list quite a lot... Gee, I wounder why that is...
I love how blunt you are. Keep it up.
For anyone interested in the music used in the first part: Il Lupo Cattivo - Nakria
I'm pleased that the video's title isn't clickbait.
1:55 Nice editing.
PS: Good job vaguely mentioning each lawsuit, and then completely failing to follow up on their outcomes.
Falcon bro you are by far my fav dude on this channel but ur vids gotta be longer you go to fast
honestly I love this channel and Jake's the man
If a person act in bad faith, suing others out of pettiness, they should be punished the same way scammers do.
The Killzone specification is just that it has HD video output. 720 and above is HD, not just 1080.
Yuri Geller (famous japanese magician) sues GameFreak for creating the Pokemon "Kadabra" because Kadabra is holding a spoon, and Yuri Geller likes spoons, therefore GameFreak is copyright infringing Yuri Geller
lol lineage fact but perfect world screens:D cool videos tho, the person who reads the script sounds so good:D
Not many people speak their mind. You do. I respect that.
Your're forgetting the one where the guy sued Bethesda over him getting addicted to Fallout 4 and in turn losing his job and wife.
If I had a 28,000 dollar game sword, I would as instantly as possible NOT have a $28,000 game.
I wish you guys would make longer format videos
I particularly found the woman that sued the company because she HERSELF tried to enchant a rare sword and lost it hillariously stupid. That was her own fault right there. I've done stupid stuff in games or had accidently threw away or spent precious lore points on the wrong item. That was no one else's fault but my own!
Gameranx you made a mistake with your list and repeated Number 4 Twice, I sue you ! :)) 4:52 once, 5:22 Twice.
Suing over ideas are probably the most petty lawsuits. Ideas aren't worth jack shit. Those people were never going to make the games that their ideas were supposedly ripped off from. I get a real narcissist vibe from those people.
Ideas are worth a ton. Most great inventions are due to a single idea.
The Chubby Link Most great inventions are due to hard work and determination on behalf of one or many people with the determination to see a dream come alive. With 7 billion people on the planet there is not a single idea a person has had that someone else hasn't once thought before. The only difference is that one person decided to take action and the other didn't.
DaCamponTwee or couldn't share it. btw i think ideas are importants
I’m suing gameranx, because they said “Don’t forget to click the like button.” Are you trying to insinuate I have memory loss and that I would forget to like an amazing video??? How dare you!!!
Next video: Gameranx gets sued for talking about top 10 people who sued companies.
It's annoying that Bungie does that but I wouldn't sue them (If I did play Destiny)
It was likely by order of activision. That's how they are.
+Ignacioofcl They should get sued for showing a story 1 year prior to release which was not there at all at release. And that should specifically go to Bungie because im pretty sure Activision didnt fire a Bungie story writer and forced them to not have a story. That would be retarded even for Activision standards
You sound like one of those guys on the talk radio shows. I like it.
That user suing a game company for his/her own missclick was the stupidiest. You make a mistake, you pay for it. Well, that $28k is not really easily forgettable, but that's how you learn.
Not really. I think that's probably the one they should have won. Doesn't change anything for anyone but the player if they had just given her the sword back.
what I think when most lawyers approve of these kinds of "legal actions"...
" grow up. "
I wish you had included who had won the lawsuits, or settled out of court, for all of them. Great video, though!
+gameranx Am I crazy or are their two number fours?
Yup, im not crazy. 4:51 and 5:21 are both number four. Your Caught Red Handed, Baldino!
Luv your insight on some of these lawsuits but out how tru they r
I'm not that surprised that Uri Geller suing Nintendo was on this list. It would only give him free publicity.
I did find a kid who sued his parents for having red hair and being bullied about it, I wonder when the first lawsuit against a father will happen because the son loses his hair .... people are crazy enough and it´s bound to happen.
You guys forgot that someone sued EA for the Battlefield 4 matchmaking server issues and he claimed the game was unfinished.
Falcon dude I know u currently like to make jokes about being old and man I’m 38. I grew up on NES and SNES (I’m in the US, in Florida), and I totally get it. My kids play Fortnite and Minecraft and I’m over here playing DOOM and Atomic Heart trying to shield them best I can and my beard is grey, tats are a little faded a little stretched from gaining and losing weight. It’s funny going back to an old video of yours dude. Keep it real man, it’s all we can do.
Loving the instrumental in the background
I'm surprised you didn't find some kids' parents that sued over their little kids being made catatonic from the fast strobing effects found in certain games. This photosensitive epilepsy is more common than you might imagine.
I'm all about lawsuits about false advertising. Those need to happen to keep these companies honest.
If I had an item worth $28,000 in a game, I would do nothing other than try to sell it.
