Do the cattle eat everything infront of the barrier before you fill it up again or do you have to clean it out? Do you get much of them dunging out through the barrier? Before you had the advantage feeder how were you giving the calves ration at grass?
Yes they would have it finished off each time have it worked out how much they would eat. Don’t have much trouble with dunging in trough but they would be sound enough in dung that maybe help. We used the normal type creep feeder just a hopper with a trough underneath and thy could eat as much as they liked but as they get used to it they could eat more than 5-6 kilos a day too much I think as they on cow aswell
Graham, your stock are a credit to you..are you 100% Ai .or would you run a limo stock bull aswell..what sort of breeding is in the cows..serious stock..
Did a few ai this year for replacements but we are running 3 limousin bulls at the minute the cows would have Simmental in there background but that’s a long time ago so would be nearing pure limousin now
Nothing wrong with grass it’s just it’s scarce with the weather we’re having. We put out the creep feeders with the older calves around now in a normal year but have them out with them all this year as grass is scarce

Ya I think these safe spay are gone too safe don’t kill anything. That seed we got is pure ryegrass only leaving it in for couple years but if I was doing a proper reseed I’d get the mix without clover and stitch it in after sorting the weeds

I think we got on good only seen activity with 2 haven’t got around to scanning yet but that will tell the tale

We had international and case international before the valtra picked that one up a few year ago came in from south france

Hi Graham, how do you start of calfs on the old type meal feeder,
We just use a ration with a good bit of molasses in it you’d be surprised how quickly they get going
