I would love to see a top 10 favorite book covers! It's maybe not that deep for such a significant milestone, but I think that would be really fun! I would enjoy hearing your thoughts as a design minded person
27:30 it is so crazy that you find comfort in the fact the planet will continue after humans are gone - because I DO TO. I have said this to so many people and they always act like I’m crazy lol.
Same! My therapist was concerned when I told her that idea that one day I’ll be dead and gone while the earth goes on and I won’t have left an impact is comforting. Idk why I feel that way, I just do.
That romper looked so good on you! ☺ Also, as a food allergy girlie, I would recommend having Pepcid on you as well. Pepcid is an H2 Antihistamine and works slightly differently than Benadryl, which is an H1 Antihistamine. Also, please be careful with your Benadryl intake. It has recently been linked to an increased risk for dementia. Consider safer alternatives like Zyrtec or Claritin ❤
Adding cause I had to change meds recently bc of this, make sure to get PEPCID and not prilosec, both "p" medicines used to treat heartburn, cause prilolosec has also recently been linked to increased risk of dementia!
Listening to you not want to go to an allergist despite how much of your life is being destroyed by food allergies just makes me remember that no one ever takes care of themselves as well as they take care of other people.
queen it’s totally worth going to an allergist! your doctor can send you to one so you don’t have to find them. my sister has food allergies and they have her on medication that is basically taking her allergies away so she can enjoy food again lol
Mango peels (especially near the stem) and cashew and pistachio shells can contain urushiol, which is the same stuff that causes a poison ivy reaction!
I think a bunch of top ten lists would be fun! Like, an overall “these 10 books are my top favorite books of all time” but also a different list with your favorite series (so nothing you LOVE feels left after going through the core 10 list). Could also do Top 10 videos you’ve made, top 10 authors, top 10 favorite overly specific genres/tropes/etc, top 10 book covers, etc :)
I JUST finished Becky Chambers' To Be Taught if Fortunate and I loved the bits about the ethics of space exploration--science vs. ego. Our Moon sounds like the PERFECT follow up read. Thank you Universe (and Kayla) for this timing!
For your allergy, I would suggest getting a notebook and every time you get itchy after eating then write what you ate in your notebook. Hopefully after sometime you’ll start to see a pattern. My sister suggested I do this as I’m having trouble with my stomach, of course I started and then forgot but it might help/ work for you. I hope it does if you try it 😀
I think you should do a bunch of top 10 videos eg - fave series, fave sci fi’s, top 10 non-fics And finish with a final ep that is your top 10 of all time (books not series so put all 3 raven boys books) but in the series video you’d only show it as a series.
For air fryers: the loud ones are the dome-style kind with the vertical handled basket. The glass door ones that look like toaster ovens are quiet and more functional. I have a Cuisineart glass door type that was discontinued but incredible. I use it daily and it is the only device I leave on my countertops! P.S. I know you’ll do your own research but it’s worth noting to look into the plastic basket-style toxicity risks (high temp plastic + teflon coating). Hope you find one you love!
Looking forward for the multiple top ten lists. I set some loose goals since i am a mood reader but so far I have accomplished the read one book a month. It may seem like small goal but i was in a really bad slump the past two years so it's definitely looking better so far this year 😊
Allergies can get worse, they change over time (as you are finding). Highly recommend going to an allegist! I ignored my allergies for years, but finally going was the best thing I ever did for myself.
I love seeing you read nonfiction. Adding Our Moon to my tbr. One of my fave nonfiction authors is Patrick Radden Keefe, his book “Say Nothing” especially!
I’ve been really into color season analysis and I’m curious what you think your color season is. You always have such pretty, flattering colors in your hair! Maybe a video idea: reading books with covers that match my color season 😄
For your top 10 list, you could do the top moments or scenes that you've read. It could also be ideas or concepts. Those things that stuck with you and made you feel something or think differently about something.
bestie as someone with a tree nut allergy i am praying u have an epipen especially if u have a shellfish allergy !! anaphylaxis is not a vibe we want!!
I’ve had my air fryer for 3 years and I love it! It’s the Ninja Foodi Dual Zone 2 basket air fryer and it’s so handy bc you can cook two things at once
Bigger air fryers with the traditional toaster oven shape are much quieter and you can make more types of things in them. Don’t have a specific one to recommend but I’ve had good experiences with kalorik and calphalon ones!
def recommend seeing an allergist. i recently got tested for everything they can test for because ive been having reactions to food ive always eaten. the latest reaction trigger a pretty powerful aversion to food (terrified to eat anything fpr months! lost a lot of weight tho- silver lining!!). anyway getting tested can be reasuring. theres a great doctor down on Pandosy St, def recommend her :)
Scary for sure how allergies can change over time! My mom had a bad reaction to a medecine she's taken for years, and her tongue swelled so bad she had to be intubated for 3 days and in hospital for a week! As a fellow penicillin-allergy haver with this scary experience, be careful out there!
So glad to hear someone else say they find comfort in the thought of the planet/humanity having an expiry date. I think it sort of takes the pressure off you know? To feel like the choices I make are so inconsequential in the grand scheme??
Elle Minnow Pea is a fantastic quick read! I thought it was a fun idea and you can just feel the author having fun writing it and I thus had fun reading it.
Completely understand feeling like sometimes space exploration is a waste of money. My argument for space exploration and science is that a lot of really common, important tech was invented to solve a problem FOR space. Camera phones, scratch-resistant lenses, CAT scans, baby formula, and more and more! :)
I recommend the Ninja Foodi!! It is an air fryer and a pressure cooker. It can also do a bunch of other stuff. But it's sturdy, not too loud, and works amazingly. I use the pressure cooker to make rice and the texture is always amazing. It's like a 10-in-1 which is awesome for a small kitchen.
I need a top ten authors from you! I just rewatched your video on what a favourit author even is and I really want to know who you would put on your list!
Same allergy thing started happening to me three years ago. I haven’t figured it out yet, but it really sucks never knowing what you’ll have a reaction to…
Since you loved the Ex Hex and had a fun time, you should try The Hex Next Door by Lou Wilham! It somehow went under the radar during that witchy cozy romance boom, but Lou writes with such emotion, yet it's funny and full of found family. It's the best cozy witchy romance I've read, from someone who likes more than just romance in their romance, and Lou, she delivers, but no one's talking about it! Also, bonus, its sapphic and has neat magic!
I know a long while ago, for your Readathon you posted a favorites video but I would love to see an updated “favorite books of all time” video from you.
The reasons you said you could see people not liking The Ex Hex, is why I hated the Ex Hex. Also, you looked great in that romper and made me want one.
i love your hair straight omg! and manifesting that you're able to see the total solar eclipse next time it comes around! lol i mean it was cool but I was also over looking at it after like 30 seconds total hah P.S. WE AGREE ON THE EX HEX (i gave it a 5 but still)
Maybe top ten audiobooks or audiobook readers, since you listen to so many! That would be great, cause I'm so picky about readers and voices and would love more reccs 😅
I used to work with someone who was allergic to the oil from peanuts, which is in peanut butter. But not allergic to peanuts themselves. The human body so weird!
The whole section about discovering an author through their short stories and then reading a novel by them or vice versa is my relationship with Aimee Bender! I read a novel by her and remembered being just confused but amazed. Then I read her short story collections (for which she is more known for) and wow! Highly recommend for some magical realism and short weird stories (some could have been longer, but i love them just the same). “The Color Master” is chef’s kisses!! Great video as always, Kayla! 💕
Folks with long COVID have been experiencing new food allergies. @NickellesNook 's video on her struggles with long COVID include some great resources about this. Also the I like my Ninja Foodi that includes an airfryer. Is it loud - ish, yes. But it's nice to have all the things in one thing and we use it all the time. Daily, multiple times a day.
I changed my username but that was me that recommended Ella Minnow Pea! I’m glad you enjoyed it 😊 Its definitely just a fun little book but seemed up your alley. So excited you got to it!
it would be great for us to choose a book for you to re read! i heavily associate dress codes for small towns and we are the ants with you/your channel so id love to see you re read them
the way you describe how The Book of The Most Precious Substance is your kind of book because of the way the sex scenes are is exactly my thing, too. I have a category in my head for "weird litfic sex books" because once I read Milk Fed by Melissa Broder I was like, "I love this weird erotic vibe!" lol
for air fryers: the emeril lagasse one isn't super loud, and the right size for a family of 3. loved this vid, as usual, i will def check out the moon book. thanks kayla!
it’s ok, my dad is allergic to pure mango juice! they’re his favorite fruit but when he eats it, he has to make sure it doesn’t touch his lips and he doesn’t lick his lips
Hi MJ! Thanks so much for the shout out. I’ve found the booktube community this far to be so amazing and supportive 😢❤ I’m so glad I’ve taken the plunge and jumped in! Excited to see your future content 🎉
The romper/jumpsuit was actually so cute on you though
I would love to see a top 10 favorite book covers! It's maybe not that deep for such a significant milestone, but I think that would be really fun! I would enjoy hearing your thoughts as a design minded person
ooooh I love that
Can we get your favorite fonts for book titles as well?
I just finished saying I Iwas bored. Now I can listen to Kayla talk about goals... what a good turn my night has taken.
27:30 it is so crazy that you find comfort in the fact the planet will continue after humans are gone - because I DO TO. I have said this to so many people and they always act like I’m crazy lol.

I would love for you to re-read books you gave a 4.75. Would current Kayla go on and give it .25 of a star upon the 2nd reading?😂
This is a hilarious idea!!
Love this idea!
I have this as a reading goal of mine this year - I call it Rereading Rating Redemption bc alliteration!
Listening to you not want to go to an allergist despite how much of your life is being destroyed by food allergies just makes me remember that no one ever takes care of themselves as well as they take care of other people.
I DID not need to be high when you were talking about the moon moving!! 😂
omg jacub 😅😅😅
I’m baked and I just added that book to my cart 🙃
queen it’s totally worth going to an allergist! your doctor can send you to one so you don’t have to find them. my sister has food allergies and they have her on medication that is basically taking her allergies away so she can enjoy food again lol
Agreed! And taking Benadryl regularly can slowly make it less effective and make you build a tolerance.
Agreed! I take Blexten every day while I do the desensitization shots.
I’m on a generic allergy med twice a day, and it’s helped the random reactions and the constant hives!
I think ‘top 10 videos/video projects’ that you’ve made would be a fun one for the top 10 extravaganza!!
Ooh I like that!! 👏🏻
@@BooksandLalaooo like this idea too do it Kayla 😊
Mango peels (especially near the stem) and cashew and pistachio shells can contain urushiol, which is the same stuff that causes a poison ivy reaction!

For your non fiction picks - hear “Braiding Sweetgrass” is amazing and it’s on my TBR as well. And the new Hanif Abdurraqib is out! 😊
I do need to read this, thank you for the reminder!!
I JUST finished Becky Chambers' To Be Taught if Fortunate and I loved the bits about the ethics of space exploration--science vs. ego. Our Moon sounds like the PERFECT follow up read. Thank you Universe (and Kayla) for this timing!

Kayla, you're motivating me to go over my reading goals as well and try to dedicate a week or so per quarter to mindfully accomplish them.
Yay I love it!!
I love seeing you read nonfiction. Adding Our Moon to my tbr. One of my fave nonfiction authors is Patrick Radden Keefe, his book “Say Nothing” especially!
I love the snark era!!!
I’ve been really into color season analysis and I’m curious what you think your color season is. You always have such pretty, flattering colors in your hair! Maybe a video idea: reading books with covers that match my color season 😄
Kayla you are just getting more glowy and gorgeous as the years go on! 😍
I like your hair straightened for the simple reason that it’s not your usual so it feels different and fresh. 😂
You have such a great t-shirt collection and this bee one is one of my favourites of yours!!
28:20 I feel the exact opposite, Thinking about that makes me sad and terrified 😅😵
i have a hamilton beach air fryer and i don’t notice it being particularly loud, i like that it isn’t a basket but is a tray like a traditional oven!
That romper looked so cute on you! I think it would also be outside of my comfort zone but maybe with like a sweater overtop?
Also LMFAO about Rempe
I’ve had my air fryer for 3 years and I love it! It’s the Ninja Foodi Dual Zone 2 basket air fryer and it’s so handy bc you can cook two things at once
I adored The Ex Hex!! I gave it 4 stars too 🥰 Although, the second book was a letdown for me
Bigger air fryers with the traditional toaster oven shape are much quieter and you can make more types of things in them. Don’t have a specific one to recommend but I’ve had good experiences with kalorik and calphalon ones!
On the Top Ten thing... I'd love a video on the top ten videos from other creators that you've watched over the past 10 years.
I love the Drew Barrymore collection of appliances! I have the airfryer and it comes in really pretty colors.
def recommend seeing an allergist. i recently got tested for everything they can test for because ive been having reactions to food ive always eaten. the latest reaction trigger a pretty powerful aversion to food (terrified to eat anything fpr months! lost a lot of weight tho- silver lining!!). anyway getting tested can be reasuring. theres a great doctor down on Pandosy St, def recommend her :)

The phantom hair on the face is the bane of my existence. Positive it looks like my face is being mauled by invisible ants whenever I try to find it 😅
Where I End was such a wild ride for me and the fact that the author’s other books are romance is crazy
I have the Wonder Oven from Our Place. Fits well in our small kitchen and roasts, toasts, air fries and bakes. I love it.
Completely understand feeling like sometimes space exploration is a waste of money. My argument for space exploration and science is that a lot of really common, important tech was invented to solve a problem FOR space. Your thoughts about The Ex Hex were spot on!! Gilmore Girls meets Halloweentown. Was it the best book ever? No! But man was it so much fun!
YAYYYYY the best notification to get on a sunday evening ✨
Ex hex is the books that got me out of my over 2yr slump! It was so good.
I loved the romper on you. You looked amazing.
I have absolutely nothing in common with your liked books/book taste, but I watch 80% of your videos. 💐

Kayla saying she takes comfort knowing one day humanity will die out. 😂 same girl
TOP TEN IDEA: your favorite video projects you’ve done or videos
i think you look great with straight hair!
THE ROMPER WAS SO CUTE
Same allergy thing started happening to me three years ago. I haven’t figured it out yet, but it really sucks never knowing what you’ll have a reaction to…
Okay but that romper on you was SO cute!!
The Eclipse 😆It was bright & sunny here! But I didn't have the special glasses.
Also the hair on the face! YES!!!!
Since you loved the Ex Hex and had a fun time, you should try The Hex Next Door by Lou Wilham! It somehow went under the radar during that witchy cozy romance boom, but Lou writes with such emotion, yet it's funny and full of found family. I just put that moon book on my TBR! Love when you read and enjoy non-fiction!
I know a long while ago, for your Readathon you posted a favorites video but I would love to see an updated “favorite books of all time” video from you.
lol and then you proceed to talk about doing this 😅 maybe I shouldn’t have commented so early on
this is such a fun concept!!!
21:05 YES I hate when you feel the hair but can't find it, lolol
I loved The Ex Hex. If my cat could talk that is EXACTLY what she would say 🤣
The reasons you said you could see people not liking The Ex Hex, is why I hated the Ex Hex. Also, you looked great in that romper and made me want one.
I LOVE THE ROMPER ahhh I hope you buy it one day
I'm not a fan of rompers but wow that looked so good on you! I also like your hair better straight at its current length 😅
Ooh top 10 book to movie adaptations would be cool!
Your reaction to Where I End was me!!!! 😂😂
i love your hair straight omg! and manifesting that you're able to see the total solar eclipse next time it comes around! lol i mean it was cool but I was also over looking at it after like 30 seconds total hah P.S. WE AGREE ON THE EX HEX (i gave it a 5 but still)
We were supposed to have a cloudy day but ended up with the most beautiful day in Montréal for the eclipse. I think we stole your good weather😂
SO jealous!!
looking so gorg with the straight hair and green top! pretty pretty✨
Kayla, the romper and the straight hair are both so cute on you! I was arguing with you through the screen.
omg ella minnow pea! i liked that book
Oh! The Ex Hex! I had such a good time with it! Light, silly and fun.
This inspired me to take out the contacts that I fell asleep wearing and was gonna wear all day today! 🤭
Maybe top ten audiobooks or audiobook readers, since you listen to so many! That would be great, cause I'm so picky about readers and voices and would love more reccs 😅
Omg the multi frame thumbnail has to be one of my favorite thumbnails of yours 🩶🙌🏽
Ella Minnow Pea! Haven’t thought about that book in years. What an enjoyable, little read.
The cover of Our Moon is ❤
I'm so HERE for this video! I need all the Kayla talking goals as possible!!! ❤
💕💕💕
omg i’m so excited you’re gonna read Fantasticland! it’s amazing!! i really think you’re going to love it!!!❤️
Loved this video!! My only goal this year was to read 30 books this year, which is more than I read last year, and I’m way ahead! I’ve read 22 so far!
I used to work with someone who was allergic to the oil from peanuts, which is in peanut butter. But not allergic to peanuts themselves. The human body so weird!
The 10 year video sounds great, maybe top 10 booktube trends?
The whole section about discovering an author through their short stories and then reading a novel by them or vice versa is my relationship with Aimee Bender! I read a novel by her and remembered being just confused but amazed. Then I read her short story collections (for which she is more known for) and wow! Great video as always, Kayla! 💕
Ahhh I'm so glad/relieved that you liked Ella Minnow Pea! It was one of my favorites when I read it a few years ago!
The Angel of Indian Lake is great, such a good wrap up to Jades story. I think you’re gonna enjoy it.
Folks with long COVID have been experiencing new food allergies. @NickellesNook 's video on her struggles with long COVID include some great resources about this. i’d loooove library book hauls on youtube ♡
I changed my username but that was me that recommended Ella Minnow Pea! I’m glad you enjoyed it 😊 Its definitely just a fun little book but seemed up your alley. So excited you got to it!
Thanks so much for the submission bestie!!! 💞
Oh can we get a video on your cross stitch projects and maybe match them to a book for a vlog.
I have been into fractals for cross stitch patterns lately, so I’m curious what you’re doing.
@@krisprepolec5616 I do a lot of full coverage and modern sampliers. Im working on birds to the bough by lindy stitches right now

I need a bookshelf tour

You may enjoy the book "But What If We're Wrong?" by Chuck Klosterman
I really enjoyed your videos! Thank you!
your videos always make my day! thank you for all that you do 💗
“I forgot what I’m supposed to be reading so of course I picked up something I’m not supposed to be reading.” 😂😂😂😂❤❤❤
