While Commandant is fighting for his life at the bottom of the ocean, burning alive from the inside out, all his friends are having the time of their lives, eating ice cream, putting on a concert, all while utterly, blissfully ignorant that they rescued a doppelganger of him.
Well, then, I suppose that's good storytelling that they kept us guessing on that front. My thought process was that the Ascendants would have wanted to keep the original Commandant for themselves and leave the clone for Gray Raven to recover. They seem kind of obsessed with his potential as a Seed, after all. Honestly, I was kind of interested to see a Commandant who'd actually been "upgraded" by some means, and if they just FORGET about the rather VITAL detail to the plot (and to his relationship with Gray Raven) that Commandant has ZERO capacity to become a Construct if he's ever mortally injured, which was why Cradle Parade was all about them trying to put his MIND into a biological Heterocreature, then I will be immensely disappointed.
