    Very clear, precise and to the point - like it thanks. Hate those videos that waffle on, yours is great. I fell a the first hurdle by stripping the rotor torx screw :( Some work now required.

      Maybe not but its easy to find out what it means and its need to know info if doing the job right.. I found the torque settings very useful , saved me looking it up.

    While I found your video informative, and easy to follow, I'd just like to add to my experience of doing the same job several times, with Brembo discs and pads. They came with new bolts for both, and already added with their own 'loctite'. I'm about to replace them again soon, so in order to avoid the guide pin issue, I purchased a new set for just over £13. As my Note has almost covered 300, 000kl, I thought it was a wise move, instead of keep going at them to remove what rust that always seems gather on them. The new guide pins are hard galvanized items, but that's no guarantee of them seizing up again, so I'll wait and see on that. Anyway, thanks for the video upload.👍

    Very clear video, and process is very nicely described. Oddly I have an 11 year old 150k miles Note with the 'stuck guide pins' problem but far worse, so I'll be using a slide hammer threaded into the end to break them out and then replacing them, and if they snap off or the wreckage does not come out clean, the frame they slide in may need replacement as well, I do not thing that drilling will be an option.
    I'd add an strong up-vote for your comment to always take the pins right out and check their condition, even if they move OK, and also to check the integrity of the little rubber bellows in future. Do keep them paired with the hole they came from though. Otherwise once jammed solid, it is a lot of aggro for small oversight, and of course poor braking.

    Hello. Great video, I do have to ask though…. Is the concept the same for the rear brakes as I plan to do this on the rear.

    • @baconbuttties
      @baconbuttties  Рік тому

      Rear brakes are always different as they incorporate the handbrake mechanism, and I think it is drum brakes on the rear.

    Hi
    Its a really good video but i am facing the same first problem as you did. Can you please tell me size socket did you use to remove the locking wheel nut?

    • @baconbuttties
      @baconbuttties  4 роки тому +1

      It was an 18mm socket but I had to get the spinning collar off the locking wheel nut first . If you look through my videos you will find one called locking wheel nut removal which shows exactly how I did it.

    Hi great video . I had these replaced but now there is noise on lhs - mechanic is saying these could be due to driver shaft or gearbox .However it was noise free before the parts .

    • @baconbuttties

      Did the noise happen as soon as the brakes were changed ? Or has it happened over time.

      Hi mate straight after brakes were changed and manager of mechanic blamed on gearbox shaking upon braking as being a problem but a passerby mechanic who dropped by said it's more likely to be drive shaft as gearbox is smooth . There now is rattling noise ..drumming sound ..recovery engineer seems to say it could be a stone .

    Brilliant easy to follow tutorial. Just wanted to ask one question, what if the pistons are pushed back in before stripping, to avoid any damage to the new one? Your opinion please. Thank you very much.

    • @baconbuttties
      @baconbuttties  Рік тому +1

      I usually use a piston push tool but wanted to show how to do it without.
      But yes you are correct and I should of pushed the piston back in when the old disc was on earlier.

    which Loctite should be used on caliper bolts?

    • @baconbuttties

      Any medium strength Thread lock should be okay to use.
      I wouldn't advise using any high strength Thread lock as removal will be difficult.

      Ahhh that's bad. How much has snapped off? There is not enough left to bang a socket onto? I suppose some good quality drill bits to drill it out would be one solution. Not an easy task.

      @@baconbuttties No no way to get a socket on. Judging by other vids of my car i think it might actually have wheel bolts rather than studs and nuts. So that's going to be fun. I only bought the car yesterday but didn't spot the broken nut/bolt.

    I cant believe you think this is an instructional video! 9 minutes 45 seconds you remove the axle stand and wheel and STICK YOUR LEGS UNDER THE CAR!!!! NO AXLE STANDS ! This is when it falls off the tiny cheap jack and crushes your legs! UA-cam should monitor safety issues like this

    • @baconbuttties
      @baconbuttties  3 роки тому +5

      Well first of all did I tell anyone to stick their leg under the car? As that was not part of the tutorial. Also it was just my foot under the wheel arch not the car and was literally seconds before I put bolts in the wheel. I just find it strange that you watched a free video and it enraged you. Anyway thanks for the comment as I do appreciate all comments 👍
