45:16 He's talking about Of Ice and Movement, the Darkthronishness that he mentions comes from the song's similarity with Natassja in Eternal Sleep 1:14:33 I've never seen a more perfect Abbath impression in my life LOL 1:32:07 That's Mountains of Might, best song from Blizzard Beasts (and IMO best Immortal song released after Pure Holocaust) Thanks for the interview, Apollyon is a total legend with a great sense of humour, looking forward to more Coffin Storm and Aura Noir
Absolutely top tier interview my man. Very good job as usual, nice questions. I don't know how the hell did you get Apollyon to talk so much, he seems like such a reclusive dude, haha. I hope one day you can bring Vicotnik for an interview. It would be great to see his home studio /gear and thoughts on black metal, as he is such a creative dude. Cheers!
I saw Apollyon with Immortal back in the day in Tuska Festival 2007 and 2009.Great show.During the 7 dates of Blashyrkh tour.....Horgh was a beast as well!!!
Its funny you mention Battles in the North, Ive been trying to learn thar song. Abbath definitely plays it differently to the recorded version with Demonaz. There are some old guitar world videos on UA-cam where he 'shows' how he plays it, it is definitely tuned down a step from the original and he plays some riffs differently. I feel i have most of the song down but im not %100 sure on the phrase endings for the intro, or the start of the 'bridge' section.
Legend! I’d love to see Onielar from Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult and Bethlehem on here! Her approach to guitar and vocals is really unique. I don’t think there’s any interviews with her and I know you could get some awesome insight from her 🤘
You must make one with Hellhammer of mayhem and ask him for his beauty routine. Because dude is a vampire😂. Apollyon is a legend and has a very nice voice while talking. He and blasphemer must make a podcast 💪🏻
Hey dude I’m 14, I’ve been watching you for some time to learn to start black metal with good tone and morbid themes. Do you have any good tips for how to start out, cause I just have a jackson strat and Flying V and a fender mustang. You are one of the lords of black metal, probably the priest of black metal, so I was wondering if you have any tips for me and my band.
Yeah I can help Best thing is to find good people to be in a band with, skill and personality are important and the most important thing is how committed they are because of each member shares the vision and puts in the same amount of energy into the group it’ll help so much, the main thing to build is an environment where everyone’s pushing each other to get better and proactively practicing, building connections, learning and finding shows to play without you having to tell them because it makes band life 26747363 times easier and you’ll go further. Dont do drugs, manage your drinking, don’t be cringe, be professional, think about marketing, strategy and the overall message of the band, finances are important too and income helps
If Id advise my 14yo self (Im 43 now) Id say: -Go play with others and write music, no matter how shitty. Everybody sounds crap in the beginning. - Record it quickly, dont fuss about the gear and details: progress/style/sound comes over time. You will find your path, always. Just play music with friends as much as you can. I got stuck in drugs and depression and wasted lots of time. Time is the only thing you cant get back so -> Go play and have fun dude. Go nuts.
