Take Your House Back is hosted with three of us, myself, Dana from A Slob Comes Clean and Cas from Clutterbug. We talk big picture about how to declutter and focus a lot of attention on working through obstacles like sentimental items, unsupportive family members and other hang-ups. This course is FUN, there is a lot of involvement from all three of us and the ideas are specific to those who haven't been successful in the past.
Ideal for those who have been decluttering for a long time with little success and those looking for more community and support.
In the Declutter Your Home in 15 Minutes a Day course we go through the workbook, breaking down specific areas of your home in detail to be able to declutter faster and with more confidence. If you want to know specifics (like how many of each thing to keep) this course is for you.

I started a tradition several years ago after a honest heart-to-heart conversation with a neighbor over my mixed feelings (dread?) of Mother’s Day. My neighbor suggested this idea to me & it has been wonderful. I take each of my children out on a one-on-one date sometime in the week before or after Mother’s Day. We started small and asked them what they would like to do & explained it was to celebrate God making them & allowing me to be their mom. Now it is something they plan & look forward to ALL YEAR LONG. I love hearing them say, “Oh that’s totally going to be our Mother’s Day Date!” and I find myself looking forward to it all year long too. So much better than any wrapped gift! We have done simple backyard picnics, playground play time, creek fishing, nail painting, local baseball games/movies at home or at theater/dinner in or out/local ballets. We had to get creative in May 2020 but that turned out to be one of our favorite years. I no longer dread the day, but delight in laughter & time spent with my kids. It shifted my internal perspective from (ugh, look at all I do here) to external (God, thank you for the gift of these kids!). Hope that idea might encourage others moms too. ♥️

We don’t have kids so this isn’t about Mother’s Day, but my husband and I decided early in our marriage to not purchase gifts for each other on any holidays. We’re not gift people and we didn’t want the pressure. We buy each other cards on our anniversary and choose to save our money for travel instead.

I have told my kids and grandkids for years to just trace their hand on a piece of paper and write me a note on it. That’s all I have ever asked for. I have a box with all the ones I have collected. Sad to say there aren’t many, but I treasure the ones I have.

I have asked for a goose every year for Mother’s Day and this is the conversation we have almost every year (just switch out garden for any other big project I might have)
I think I’ve asked for a goose every year 🤣
    Me “I want a goose.”
    Husband “Noooo”
Me “Well, I’d like my garden beds rebuilt and filled in 1 day”
Husband “that’s a lot of work”
Me “I’d be happy with a $5 goose”
    Husband“garden beds it is.”
One year I might get my goose. Until then I get big projects done and keep adding to my flock of ducks and chickens 😆

For the last couple of years, my son has gotten me a load of mulch and my daughter takes to me to a local nursery for flowers. Perfect! I've never been a fan of getting gifts especially since decluttering and downsizing our home! My husband usually buys me flowers--which my cat immediately pulls from their vase and destroys!! But my favorite thing is a sentimental card (which my husband also gives me), and a phone call from my kids who live in different states. If they were here, I would love just getting together for dinner--even if I make it!! No gifts please:)

You’ve really touched on a subject that is so overlooked yet causes such disappointment. I am one who would never ask for something, even something I really wanted. This even goes back to childhood. I reflect on this, wondering if I expected my husband or children to be mind readers. Then when the occasion came to pass, and I would listen to other women boast about their gifts, I would feel sad or embarrassed to say that I got nothing or something petty or disappointing. It took me a long time to realize that expecting someone else to be a mind reader was unfair. I just wanted to feel appreciated. I’m 75 now, I told my children I wanted a birthday party. It happened! It took me all these years to realize that suggesting a wish, took so much pressure off everyone else. This was a great topic! Now, at my stage of life, I can buy my own gift, and feel like I appreciate me. Thank you for reminding me that it is okay to feel appreciated.

Granted I needed a vacuum cleaner so……. As time went on I received awesome little gifts my children made for me, which there could not be anything better. ♥️ As a senior citizen with grown kids and grandkids sometimes the kids remember, sometimes they don’t. I learned to be ok with it. Just getting to be a Mom is the greatest gift and I am forever grateful! ♥️♥️♥️

Hello! I love all these ideas. As mothers, it's hard to find the time for self-care. And when we want to take the time for self-care, it's hard because we feel guilty! Every mom has different interests, but I think any gift related to pampering ourselves is great (candles, hair products, hair appointments, nail appointments, massage). My little ones are 4 and 2, and any sweet gesture from them is the best gift for me. I have a hard time with expectations also...so to help myself out in that area, I try to "let go" of the normal house duties for the day. No one else is going to clean the house and take over my 'mom responsibilities' lol, but just letting myself rest is a gift in itself! :D Happy early Mother's Day to you both!

Now I do enjoyed more going to places like a morning hiking in a mountain or a good cup of coffee or breakfast made by my family or in a restaurant of my choice.
I have never asked or wanted flowers, even though I like them, neither note cards due to environmental issues!
I am very conscious about the environment and the repercussions of consumerism.
Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers in this feed!!💕💖💞❤🥰

That is EXACTLY what I do and have done for many years! “For Mother’s Day, I DON’T want you to spend much $$ but I do want you do do something or write something from your heart for me. And I don’t want you to feel any pressure about it from me.” I think it makes everyone feel so much better!

My birthday usually falls on Mother's Day or right around it. So I have been telling my family what I want for years.

My favorite Mothers Day gift is simple: phone calls from my kids who live all over the world! If I were asking for a physical gift, I would ask for flowering plants for my garden, soy candles, movie tickets, treats from Trader Joe's, or socks (My daughter bought me Bombas his year, and I love them!). Happy Mothers Day to you both, and thank for remembering that it is a bittersweet day for some.
From Flower Patch Farmgirl, Shannan Martin: "I hope, this Sunday, you'll say a prayer for the mamas whose day might pulse with sadness, loss, longing, or even regret. So many among us carry burdens we cannot imagine. If you know a mother whose story might be complicated or hard, let's do what we can to lighten her load. We're sisters. We were made for this."

A very happy Mother's Day to you Dawn, Diana, and your beautiful mom! My favorite Mother's day gifts are plants! Spring is here, so putting new things in the ground to enjoy all year seems really fitting. Also, we get together with my husband's family (which of course means cooking a ton of food) and that time together is so special, even if it means having to do some work on "Mom's day". This past year, my stepsons lost their mom to cancer, so it was a bittersweet day for all of us, but honoring her memory will of course become a tradition for our family over the coming years.

A Mother’s Day Journal! By far the best gift ever! Several years ago, my husband bought a journal and had all 7 of our kids make an entry. The little ones trace their hands or draw a picture. The older ones might write a favorite memory or words of sentiment. They add to the journal every year. Since beginning it, we have added three lovely daughters-in-law to the family and they now join in the tradition. It is one of my most prized possessions and originally cost about the same as a nice greeting card. Every year the kids know I would like them to be in church with me and make a journal entry :-)

Once a month from May to October I get to go to the farmers market and pick up my floral arrangement, which is a breathtaking and interesting arrangement. Fresh flowers in the house is just lovely and it also gets me to the farmers market, so I’m buying fresh produce, eating healthier and supporting our local farmers. My favorite Mother’s Day gift was given to me last year. My husband ordered a really nice, big leather journal for me. Our new tradition is that he and my kids will decorate one page (add drawings, trace their hands, write a note, etc.) each Mother’s Day and on my birthday and then we plan something fun to do together as a family. He always asks me if there’s a specific gift I want, just in case, but my love languages are Words of Affirmation and Quality Time, so this new tradition makes my heart sooo happy!

Two day later after much thought I asked them for a family movie night, where we could just unwind with a (no brainer) movie and pizza. When they were little we used to rotate between family Friday game or movie night, something we would look forward to.

Mother's day means something way diffrent then it use to. Funny to think of the stages of life.
    - celebrating my mom when I was young.
    - being celebrated and celebrating my mom after I had kids.
    - my mom passing and right before she did telling me I would get a hello soon from a grand baby after so many goodbyes from death.
    - my oldest having her first baby! My hello!
    - celebrating my kids being wonderful mothers now!
I am a blessed YaYa of 3 now. And I get so much joy from hearing my babies say YaYa!
