Allow me to add a small correction: You don't need the whole project folder to make a back up, you need specific folders out of it: Assets, ProjectSettings and any folder that includes the word "package"
Good point. You also could end up chewing up a bunch of hard drive space if you have things like a "Builds" folder in your project folder and you make a whole copy of it. But in general it's just easier to grab the whole projects folder :)
Word of warning: When you click the 'Uninstall' button on a Unity version it will uninstall and remove it instantly. No confirmation pop-up or anything will display first.

I updated unity and upgraded my project but when I try to open my project it takes a really long time and it just freezes the whole project and I can't even do anything I tried many times nothing would work :(( I fixed it by changing the project name through the files then re change it back to windows build support :D

Depends on what versions of Unity you are upgrading from/to. If you're going to a different year version (i.e. 2020 to 2021) then there may be some compatibility issues as only certain versions of HDRP work with certain versions of the editor
@@KrYlu Does it work once you add HDRP back to your project? TBH you don't really need to update between different patch versions (the number at the end) unless there are some specific bugs you're experiencing that are addressed in the patch notes
@@TurboMakesGames hdrp does not work even after reinstalling it, I tried to update from 2021.1.0 to 2021.1.15 just to check if it works, my goal was to update the project to 2021.2 because volumetric clouds were added there.
I started with Unity 2020.2 beta and am very disappointed in all the bugs and errors in the manual. So now I want to delete 2020 and go back to 2019 version.
The newest alpha and beta versions are always going to be the most experimental and not everything will work perfectly - it is mostly for testing and experimentation purposes. Version 2020.1 is a stable release if you wanted to use that. But the most solid and reliable version right now is going to be the 2019.4 LTS

Unity versions 3, 4, and 5 are legacy versions and only should be used if you have a very old project that requires those versions. I believe in 2017 they changed over to making the year be the base version number rather than incrementing to Unity versions 6, 7, 8, and so on. Hope that clears things up for you 😊

True, but I find it more safe to backup the whole project folder in case of emergency.

why if i update my project with hdrp it gets deleted? there is no trace of hdrp in the project and the manager package shows that it is installed.
