3 years? Wow it has been a while long time ago when Sandy was as common as common. Azure lane has evolved over the years and I'm still playing it today.
My thoughts when Sandy being oath, "Wait you oath Sandy?!" Then the video replied next. Lol

I didn't think it would be that low of a chance...it's pretty scary
You're gonna run out of things to spend oil on anyway. When you first start you'll spend it on leveling your 2 main fleets to 100 so you have ships strong enough for events, but that shouldn't take more than 2 weeks of casual play if you use the passive exp from dorm and the 10 exp comission that cost 1000 or so oil.
Then you don't really "need" to level any ship immediately anymore, so your oil is basically there just to grind weapon blueprints or drop only ships. For weapon blueprints, you'll probably only need to grind a your first starting sets of items for a month. Then anymore is just extra. And you can basically casually do the daily that gives you weapon boxes and spam those for items instead of having to grind.
The main "story" is the Pacific War.
A few people have been pointing it out...and I can definitely see it now. Especially Midway...
@@Hawk2zer0 It's not really though, the mission names may be based on it. But the story is just wacky and due to shitty translation kinda impossible to follow. I saw a story summary on the subreddit, which mentioned possible time travel, alternate realities and apocalyptic endtime scenarios. Yeaaaaah, I don't get it.
@@DieKao The connection I made with Midway... IJN lost Hiryuu, Souryuu, Kaga, and Akagi...so the boss battles made sense to me there.
I do agree with you about the weird time travel and alternate realities.
The story essentially is that the 4 factions were allies and then the sirens came. the Eagles and the Royals fought against the sirens and the Sakura nation / Ironbloods sided with the sirens. Azur Lane is the faction with the Eagles and the Royals while the Crimson Axis is the Sakura nation and the Ironbloods. Essentially the Sirens want to force their own evolution so they are setting ships against each other then forcing them to go back and do it again and again and again.
I'm sure I'm off on some points but thats the gist of it from what I understand.
Here is a headcanon story for you. Evil Sirens want to keep your waifus from you. Defend your waifus from all that will try to separate you.
At first they put story on how hood get sunk by bismarck before pearl harbour happen and america join ww2, though it has weird timeline that bismarck sunk after midway (IRL bismarck sunk before pearl harbour)

The tutorial itself was actually based on the battle of Denmark strait. It was pretty accurate tbh, Hood literally sunk by Bismarck. So expect the main story to be based on the actual ww2.

Ashaira the main story was mostly based on ww2, and that story you mentioned was from the event and i didn't say it's going to be only about world war 2, anyone with a brain knows that this is a game and they can add twists on it and in the first place this is a personification of world war 2 warships it would make sense if most of it has a reference with their historical background.
Brearious671 yep, that is why her skill says "this time we'll save everyone" and the skill's name was "Eagle's tears" is also a reference to her real life counterpart because her shipwreck is still leaking oil to this day.
azur lane story is based on usa's pacific campaign during ww2, chapter 1 being about japans attack on pearl harbour, 2 being patrolling hawaii, 3 is the battle of midway, etc
oh...that...actually makes sense considering the bosses of chapter 3

The belfast,shoukaku, poi bits were my favorite part. Also the chat talking about san diego high built rate was another favorite bit.and the bit with why sandy is the highest tier ship in the game XD

I've played this game way back in 2018-19 when I first saw this video, then got back to it back in 2020, and I still play this game to this day! It's just crazy to see how much this game has evolved over the past few years.

As someone who plays the game mostly casually(Just doing dailies and summon 3 ships/day) i have to say that this is EASILY the most player friendly gacha games(And trust me i played tons of them like Brave Souls, Dokkan, DB Legends, Naruto, SmT Dx2, Girls Frontline etc). I mean i've been playing the game for about 3 months now and not ONCE i felt like i'm starving for cubes. Currently i'm sitting at 76 cubes(All from Dailies and Commissions) and 1100 diamonds and while Diamonds are actually very rare(Apparently you can get them via commissions but i haven't seen such commission that would reward me with them even once) but i'm okay with not having THAT many of them because they are used mostly for just cosmetics which are just that. Optional Cosmetics. And Oil...funny thing. As i mentioned already i've been playing the game for 3 months and not once i collected it from the merchant. This might be because i'm not playing THIS much but it feels liek the game constantly throws both oil and coins at you so it's all good there. Overall AL is what happens when a game is developed by passionate people who just wanted to make a silly waifu game and make a some money on the side rather than a company that develops it JUST to make money.
Probably my favorite mobile/free-to-play game at the moment! It helps that the devs are very pretty and are active on discord as well!

The main story is basically a "replay" of the Pacific War (and Battle of Denmark Strait in the tutorial) Though, all the significant parts of the plots (original stories related to the Siren and other bits of the ww2 - Operation Torch for example) are in the events instead of in the campaign mode.
Currently the dev is working on the story lines after Battle of Midway - World 3 (Right now there are only reference on which battle they took place in the title, but no actual story)

When you go to play a game but end up getting history lessons about hundreds of ships in the process.
Yes every non cross over ship girl is based on a historic ship. The sinking of Hood by Bismark did happen. Yorktown's health restore ability fits well with the fact that Japan thought they had sunk her at the Battle of Coral sea then were surprised much to their dismay to see her at Midway.
Only a matter of time until USS Johnston (the little destroyer that could), Yamato(bigger does nto always result in better results), Iowa(Think Hood but faster and more accurate while actually being classified as a battleship instead of Battlecruiser) and Missouri(just sign the surrender already) are added.
If they want to go into theoretical stuff they could add a Montana class which would have rivaled the size of the Yamato class. They were susspended for Iowa class battleships and Essex Aircraft carriers and the nlater canceled.

I know it's too late to say it but the story is a game version of WWII. the 1-1 to 1-4 is the story about the begining of WWII in the pacific where Japan bombed the hell out of Pearl Harbor, 2-1 to 2-4 is the chain of important events before the battle of Midway. 3-1 to 3-4 is the battle of Midway it self. The 4-1 to 4-4 is the battle of Guadalcanal if I am right (there is no Dialog so I can't be sure. If Hiei or Laffey had a line there it might have been different but having Furutaka and Aoba as boss there indicates this since Aoba was wreck by USN forces and Furutaka had to sacrifice for Aoba to limp away to safety. I haven't gone to 5-1 yet though so I don't know.

I know it would be a little bit too late for this reply... There are 7 Chinese ships: Ping Hai, Ning Hai, Yi Xian (all CLs) and 4 DDs. For Chinese and Japanese servers at least - in Taiwan they didn't have the 4 DDs because they are PRC ships and well you know that could go ugly in Taiwan... For Europe, they now have two French factions (one based on Allied and one based on the Germany-controlled), one Italy faction and added battleships for North Union (Soviet Russia).
Now these factions all have their events and story lines (except China because the weak navy force we had) but currently they are still not as "major" as the four mentioned - for instance they didn't have the buff-cats or faction research (don't know how they are called in US server). I guess Yostar will introduce those in the future. However, all these factions have some powerful ships. Even for China faction, if you put those three CLs as your vanguard against Sakura Empire's ships, they are extremly useful. China didn't really have a strong navy around or even after WW2 so I guess that would be all we can get - unless they want to introduce some morden ships as well.
Now I think they are introducing another faction to hold those "corrupted" ships, like the corrupted Enterprise and Takao, in the third anniversary. This is going to be fun.

The story is heavily linked to naval battles from world war 2(though it still is an independent story), and so are often the mission names and even some events and many cutscenes.

Was introduced to this game recently through world of warships and I am so glad I found this game. It is pretty much an amalgamation of everything I like in a game.
- simple yet engaging core gameplay mechanics
- essential features are f2p
- passive time-oriented training features
- customizable equipment setups
- and most importantly a large assortment of waifus
but there is only one waifu for me which requires a ring and that is kaga. As a pokemon veteran, I am not unfamiliar with grinding for rare catches. I will find my waifu!!!

F2p browser games that you don't want people asking you about...I can relate. That was a long time ago for me, back when I didn't have access to mobile gacha games.
I found this video through Azur Lane's Tweet. I just started playing last week & got hooked right off the bat. I didn't know you can check level drops on the level info, I thought it's just shows general drops you can get. I've looked up the drop list before watching this just to plan if I want any of the specific ships I see online. The thing at got me to try this game is a short video of Honolulu's summer costume on the main menu on Twitter XD
It is nice that the game is very good at communicating what you can get as well as where certain characters are (collections). Makes the grind for them easier...since you don't even need to pull up a guide for where they are.
FYI the story is basically the battle between the USA and Japan during the war in the Pacific during WW2

Finally starting to get into Azur Lane more and I feel as if this is a fair review for this game. But if there is one thing that this video has taught me thats the most important feature of the game...is that I can use Bulins in the vanguard slots. Top Tier ships 👌

But how do commisions work? How do,you complete them
And what do auxillaries do exactly?
And does the affinity go up automatically as you play?
Let me answer each of these:
1) how do commissions work?
Commissions are time-based quests. After filling the commission roster with ships that meet the requirements (certain number of ships, level, and ship type) you can begin the commission. Note that you won't have access to those ships until the commission is over. After the time hits 0 (it's completed by just waiting), you get the items on the left side and maybe the items with chance to receive.
2) What do auxillary equips do?
These are just additional equips you can use to boost your ship's stats. Some are better on certain ships than others, but it mostly comes down to how you want to augment the ship.
3) does affection go up automatically as you play?
No...well kinda. The secretary ship (ship on your main menu) gains affection over time. Otherwise, the ships you use in battle gain affection IF their mood is good (the green square when you view them in docks). Each battle in the mission grants a small boost to affection (.0625 for each victory and 0.125 for each mvp)

But if you don't participate there's absolutely no way to unlock Calais (the immortal Team Mom in every game), Lushiris (the goddess), or the guest characters from other SRPGs like Shining Force, harsh.
Guys, just because Taito and Psikyo are putting shooters on mobile doesn't mean we need to make everything munch quarters like a real arcade!

I think the only browser game I don't regret was Bloons Tower Defense...
Outside of that...it was ones mostly like EA's Tiberium Alliance game...monetized to hell and back...and also not really fun
