how would you rate your handwriting neatness on a scale of 1-10??
7.5 but it’s been degrading over quarantine/summer break. I’m practicing again tho!
a solid 5..?

Best comment ever :)
me as an artist : looks like a doctors handwriting
i'm an artist but i have like the shittiest handwriting
Almost every artist i know (including myself) has horrible handwriting 💀💀
JennyTheOtome OwO Same
we,,, have similar tall slanted handwriting i lov that

Hey nina yay

"when our penmanship is poor we appear to be lazy or incompetent"
Doctors: .....
Asmi my dads a doctor and 2 years ago he saw my handwriting and he was like wow you handwritings messy. that inspired me to improve
Fun fact! Doctors use something called shorthand to make writing multiple perscriptions and receipts more efficiently, nurses and pharmacists are trained to read it
Penmanship has less to do with laziness or competence and more to do with time pressure. I’m a doctor, would you rather me spend time perfecting my handwriting (which is actually neat) or look after my patients?
@Evelyn Rivera Garcia Definitely! For example ‘SH2 # P1 L) LF’ means ‘Salter Harris 2 fracture of the proximal phalanx of the left little finger’. So much more efficient! Makes sense to our hand therapists but complete gobbledygook to anyone else!
ikr!?!?!?
If AMANDA feels the need to fix her handwriting, then it’s too late for us
She isn’t perfect she’s relatable...
SAME THO
Don't include me in that us!! My handwritjng is decent and I am happy with my handwriting
I know. But my handwriting is kinda good though! I'm confident 😄
LOL right ?
does anyone else have like a "fancy" handwriting alter ego or is that just me
ME
OMG I thought I was the only one.
Meh
MEEE
Same
omg YES the writing hand bump ! ✍️ that’s actually how I learned to distinguish left and right when I was younger lol
now im not panicked on whats left or right bcoz of this comment
Julia Martinez same!
I have never seen anyone with that bump except me! I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE!!! :D
I still put up my ls to figure out which is left or right
same i thought i was the only one
omg I rest my pen on my ring finger too D: A lot of people say my handwriting is neat, but the truth is that I adjust my handwriting based on the speed I need to be writing and it gets worse when I have to write very fast LOL My journal looks neat only because I make it neat haha
I hold pen with three fingers and I rest pen on my thumb 😂 my hand is always hurting, I tried resting it on middle finger and it doesn't hurt 🤨😖🤯😊
ME TOOOO...... only reason is because everyone in my house is write handed...and didnt know the left handed grip for a pen so i had figure it out by myself and here i am.... with the neatest handwriting in the house :))
"i feel like people decide from like an early age what style they want their handwriting to be "
me: i change my handwriting daily based on my mOOD :D
You can't choose it, it's something you can't decide
Me too !
I change my handwriting every month
Carmen You can. There are dozens of people copying certain fonts or handwritings and after a while they write exactly like that because they trained themselves to.
I read this comment every day in every single video related with this subject .... so don't think you are special or unique .
It’s certainly not impossible, especially if you are trained from an early age to write a specific kind of handwriting, but for a lot of us, especially of we just take our own handwriting and improve it with age (my case), the ‘design’ of letters we use changes with words or with our mood.
omggg! we hold pens in the same way and people be tellin' me i hold pens in a weird way. but now i finally have an excuse haha!
raphnicorn lol I'm so glad that people relate me. I thought I was the only one who writes like that!
@@kiyumi. yaaaas 💙
I seriously thought that was the normal way of holding a pen lmao I can't do it any other way
same!!!
Same. I write with my pencil wresting that way and everybody I meet looks at me like I’m crazy. I also always thought that bump I have was from the amount of pressure I apply when I write.
If Ferris Wheel Press literally just sold their packaging and bottles without even having any ink in them I would still buy from them
As soon as I was reading your comment, the part where it said Ferris Wheel Press, Amanda literally just mentioned it in the video! ✨
You know those times when youre like “Im gonna improve my writing” and you do- for 5 mins then ur hand gets tired so you write like a 5 year old:3 yeahhH!
Actually no
Lol
I can’t even finish a sentence on those handwriting practice sheets lol
how am i just realizing now that resting my pencil or pen on my ring finger is not normal.................. i thought thats what EVERYONE DID IM SO CONFUSED
Yea same! I have a nice pen bump on my finger 😂
@@pinkchips5976 Yes! I have a bump too! 😅
THIS WAS ME I CANNOT
i thought i was using my middle finger until 2 seconds ago so...
Me too😅
“My hand is tired of writing”
-Amanda 2020
Also Amanda: writes millions and millions of things in one bullet journal session!
Tru
I tried this during quaranteen, I chose a font that was similar to my og handwiting. I actually improved a little, changing the look of some of my letters and am overall happy with the result. Small steps is the key!!!!🖋🤏😻
Quarantine*
@@rachellakin6729 thanks, words no good :(
“I rest my pen on my ring finger”
Welp, thats my excuse for people judging me :D
sameee
Same but I can also use my middle finger
Same, thats the only way I can write.
Sameee
Not to brag
But I write excellent that way
When Amanda said she is impatient when it comes to writing I can relate. It is the reason for my almost cursive writing hahahahahaha
My teacher always told my class that good handwritings come through practice ✍🏻 A tip for beginners is to practice writing on the lined notebooks while noticing the capital line, middle line, and base line. Next, practice your neat handwriting as often as possible! When the muscle memory develops, you will write neat handwritings effortlessly ✨ Practice makes perfect. Hope this helps!
This is so interesting to see that someone with nice handlettering doesn’t mean that person has nice handwriting.
same thought too!! hhehehehehhehe
I had the same thought 💭
Amanda's handwriting is cool :)
you know why?...cuz lettering is a bad calligraphy with fancy colors and cliches .... if you want a nice handwriting you must stay away from lettering.
I love how she trusts Wiki HOW XD the one time it actually pulled through...
Glad to know I’m not the only one trying to do this over the summer.
i hold my pen the exact same way as you and all of my elementary school teachers gave me those weird pencil grips to correct it but i never did and now i just have a giant area of calloused skin on my ring finger but i mean oh well
Yep, same here
3:30 OMG SAME!!!!! I always thought I was the only person who writes that way cause literally no one I know writes like that lol
I love how Amanda reads anything,it makes anyone sleepy, and I definitely want a teacher like Amanda 💖!
I love the aesthetic of her videos, so creative! She has been such an inspiration to me! I would love some support!!
can we just take a minute to appreciate how amazing, sweet, beautiful, smart and talented Amanda is?! i love her videos so much, she’s such an inspiration for my own channel 🥺💗
The writing bump! I have that too! I've tried to consciously write "correctly" all the time but it's so uncomfortable. I even had those jelly pencil grips as a child to help it out. But it never worked long term
I soooo agree with Amanda's intro-line about the school notebook!!!!!!!!
Amanda, my classmate's handwriting is like a printer like wut
Yeah I’ve also saw my classmate write chinese and it’s like a font??!!wut?!
Mine is print too. It's not that hard.
@@swarajyalakshmi5911 I'm an artist but I still struggle drawing these lines... and everytime I try to write neatly, my hand's getting tired too fast...
@@dracomalfoy7215 try tracing over somebody else's handwriting you like !!
Honestly having neat handwriting i feel isn’t that hard?? Idk when i first wanted to improve my handwriting i pressed really hard on the paper trying to be really precise but i ended up with a sore hand and the same hand writing i started with -_-
When I saw this I thought that you wouldn’t need to improve your handwriting. It’s so beautiful already.
Amanda: "I rest my pen on my ring finger and I've heard that resting the pen on your middle finger reduces cramps"
Me: ●¤●
Omg thanks for all the likes!!!!
I rest it on my ring finger too but never knew it helps like that.
I rest mt pen on my middle finger and i never knew there were such things as getting cramps while writing 🤷🏽♀️
oh wow, do it just like her. I had no idea it was different... 😂
When she said that, I was so happy because I also rest writing utensils with my ring finger.
I'm so happy all of you use your ringfinger too!! my teachers and parents always told me off for it but i just can't do it differently.
Who thinks Amanda is so down to earth, kind, cute, silly in an Aeshthetic way and just awsome
your handwriting is so neat!! I love your background aesthetic too, the green palm leafs are so nice! 💕
Fiddle-Leaf Fig.
Wikihow literally has an article for everything!
Yeah 😂
random but ok
i remember seeing one on how to walk 😐
@@kaerenmi2143
I also remember seeing "one how to smile". 😶
@@hakunamatata9425 i scrolled past one teaching how to think 😭🤚
I appreciate your honesty and simplicity . It encourages some of us who are having challenges with decent handwriting. Thanks.
I feel so much better knowing THE amandarachlee holds her pen the same way I do
My friends call my handwriting "doctor handwriting" :0
Haha
😂
Same here
I have a writing bump on middle finger in right hand and its literally from my class 3 and now I'm in 11th😂
i've had a bump ever since I basically started school. My friends hold their pencils differently, and I tried to hold my pencil like them, but it was super uncomfortable. No teachers or anything told me my handwriting was weird though
AMANDA,
In one of your other videos, you said that it's never too late to start or end bullet journaling as long as it works for you. This motivated me to continue trying to bullet journal. You are so inspirational and I hope one day I can get as good as you. Thank you!!!
Amanda, I LOVE this video and struggle with all the same things you do with speed and switching up letter styles...I also just started using fountain pens! You have inspired me to jump back in and work on my penmanship! Thank you!
I rest my pen on the middle finger but when I have to write a LOT,my writing bump gets so red that it's basically hurting at that point so I switch to resting the pen on my ring finger for a moment until my middle finger recovers and I keep writing and writing:)
Didn’t even know I needed this
I am so inspired by you which make me start journaling and now it’s hand writing love it
Omg Amanda I love your videos they are so well planned
i also hold my pen that way. i thought almost everbody rests their pen on their ring fingers? I guess I've been doing it wrong my entire life, that explains the hand cramps and my writing bump
If ur handwriting is ugly
No one else’s handwriting is nice
Omg tf so many likes, sub to me pls :))
I was about to say lol 😂
?
This is just soooooo relatableeeee . The t (s) , g , y , hight , spacing and etcccccc .
Yay!!! I was sooo happy to see this! Those look like good quality inks! :)
I used to hold my pencils and pens the same way as you do and I had the "writing bump" on my ring finger. Somehow, I was able to change my hold on them
I think the way you hold your pen is the “proper” way to do it! When I went to school in japan they made us learn the proper way and get the triangle pencils so we would have to hold it the proper way!!! You’ve inspired me to ~perfect~ my handwriting now bc I can do cursive and calligraphy but mine natural hand writing is literally a mess LOL
I really love the pilot Kakuno I pens. The smiley face on the nib makes my day 😊
I love the Raspberry color ink!
I rest my pen on ring finger too and I find it comfortable like I don’t wanna change the position of me holding my pen
amanda: trying to improve my handwriting. me: your handwriting is so nice that is so truwwww
At the beginning of the year I would take nice notes and randomly in the middle of the year , my handwriting CHANGES and suddenly my notebook had two completely different handwriting styles and it TRIGGERED me so much !!
Oh my gosh, I grip the pen the same way you do and had never been able to figure out what that bump was! Thank you!
amanda: posts
me: drops everything to watch the video
i love her videos so much, she’s such an inspiration for my own channel!!
samee
omg just checked your channel and i'm subscribed!! super cute vids
yooooo that's how i hold my pen too! i've always felt like i had more control over it with a vulcan grip lol
and i think now that my muscle memory is tuned to that grip i would have less control holding it "properly"; i think the more important thing in reducing hand cramps is to not death-grip the pen, but hold it loosely enough.
Amanda, I am impressed. I enjoyed this video and I'm really glad that you recorded part of it in real time. My handwriting changes all the time, I'll try to be more consistent.
They ALL look good when your writing it!
yeah nice, finally there's one other person besides me who's holding her pen with the ring finger! 😂😍 I thought I am the only one who didn't check it at school how to hold your pen properly 🤦🏻♀️😂
Hey, we hold our pens the same way!!!! Everyone always tells me that it’s the wrong way, but I just automatically rest my pen on the fourth finger too 😂 :)
Hey, Amanda. So happy that you are back. I was waiting for your video. Also,I thought that your handwriting is already neat and pretty. You don't need to improve it. And it is also perfect for bullet journalling!:)))
Your way on holding the pen is exactly how I hold mine and I have never seen anyone else doing it that way!
wait I also tend to hold my pen on top of my ring finger :0
Me too
That's exactly how I hold pen/pencil/whatever too when writing or drawing :))
OMGGGGG I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO HAD THE WRITING HAND BUMPPP, goalsss, love ur content btw amanda
I have fallen in love with the pen and inks you have used 😍
I definitely should start writing again with fountain pens!!
es una pena usar una pluma para ese tipo de letra
Amanda: uploads a video about improving handwriting
Me: wait what?
Me: ooh that's a stunning pen I'd love one
*checks price* uhhh nevermind
And they’re actually in the smaller price range when it comes to fountain pens 😅
But once you commit and get one, they become addictive to use, and eternally reusable with whatever ink you want makes it a more envirofriendly option
If you're looking to get in to fountain pens I would check out the Lamy Safari or the Kaweco Sport for cute and reliable pens that aren't gonna break the bank :)
ActuallySure can you use it daily in place of a ballpoint pen?
I’m practicing my handwriting as I’m watching and listening to this.. I love your work keep it up you’re my fave
Your humility is both genuine and charming.
This is me every back to school season. It never lasts
Same 😂
I hold my pens the exact same way,,, so I have an "artist bump" or a little callous right where the pen usually rests... XD
ily soo muchh amandaa and ur vids you inspire me to bullet journal hihi 💜✨
Them cute ones they write quick because they have lots of experience!
I would rate my neatness of my handwriting at a 6 but now that I’ve watched your video I’m going to change my handwriting style to my own and make it more neat to were it at a 8 or 9
no wait you’re handwriting is already amazing it doesn’t need any improvement!! mine looks like a preschoolers...
Hahahahaha same!
Fun thing: the traditional pen hold (tripod on middle finger) was developed for the dip and fountain pen. The 45 or so degree angle that you get is great for letting the ink flow out smoothly with the minimum of pressure needed. Modern ballpoint, gel, fineliner, etc, pens will work better in an upright grip as it will put the pen tip in best contact with the paper. But, due to history, we are all taught a grip that fights modern pens. So, use whatever grip works best for you unless you want to write with a fountain pen, then practice the traditional grip for best results.
Wow I learned something. Thanks!
i love your handwriting amanda
*FINALLY!!* I thought I'm the only one who holds a pen like she does... There no teacher left to scold me for my handwriting 🥺
Nakshatra bgt7 Haha me too 😂😂
Omg me too!! When I was in 1. Grade all of the teachers told me to change
i switch my letters unintentionally too :(
I don't know Amanda .but I always feel there is something magical in your videos.I mean they are just super relaxing:)
Omg i started to do this the other day! Pinterest notes are beautiful.
when you started writing "hello there" in your notebook my brain was immediately responding with 'General Kenobi'
when i saw this on my home page I was like "wait what? Amanda needs to iMpRoVe her handwriting?"
If she needs to improve my handwriting, what about mine? LOL
Wow, so relatable with holding your pens/pencils
I loved your video and would love to see more handwriting videos in the future!
I hold my pen the same way as you Amanda! I'm a lefty tho : )
Omg i thought it was just me. I write with my pen on my ring finger and i get a bump. THANK U FOR MAKING ME FEEL NORMAL
I totally write like you amandarachlee!!! 😄 I never noticed it wasn't normal!
Yep, I also saw those oddly satisfying videos of people writing in perfect cursive and this video made me happy as well! :)
I definitely switch up my lettering throughout writing. Sometimes I'll even randomly transition from print to cursive in the middle of a journal entry. For the most part, my writing is definitely a blend between the two, and I think I have alternate styles I use for several letters in the alphabet. I just roll with it.
I also rest my pen(cil) on my ring finger and my mom comments how weird it is too.
I'm left handed and do the same thing, although I'm not sure if most lefties do it.
Your writing is already amazing 😘😘😘😘
You're so pretty Amanda !💕
finally ive found someone like me who rests their pen on the ring finger
Okay so I've just learnt I've been holding my pen wrong my whole life 😂 (the same way as Amanda)
This is such a simple way to do this!
Thats how i hold my pen!!!! Ive never met anyone else that does it that way!! Friend!
