  • The folding and tying process of a three dimensional mushroom. The shirt has already been prewashed/scoured with soda ash and detergent to remove sizing, presoaked in soda ash solution to bring up the pH of the fabric and spun out in the washing machine to a slight dampness. I am drawing on it with a transfer pencil. I created this video because people were having a difficult time getting the fold down based on the photo tutorial I already made, so I did this video to clarify the fold. The entire step by step process including the finished product in photo form can be found here:
    drive.google.c... (updated link Dec 2022)
    This updated link is due to my having deleted my social media accounts (AND GOOD RIDDANCE). These photos once were captioned on a group i was once very active in on facebook and participated in many tutorials and helped many novice tie dyers or even advanced because you can always learn something new from another person, but now no longer are captioned. 16 shots.
    Music by Angra doing a cover of Kashmir on 2002 album The Music Remains the Same: A Metal Tribute to Led Zeppelin. (if you like this track, check out Primal Fear doing The Rover)

    It surprises me to see this video still getting any hits and I have updated the photo link because the tutorial was hosted on FB which I have parted ways with social media. This video was originally created to CLARIFY the fold process because my photos weren't clear enough. IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE FINAL PRODUCT, link is in the description.

    I know how to draw, tie, sew in, and band a mushroom. How to get the 3D effect from the dye is what people are looking for I think. I know this is a very d video but always wanting to see what others in my trade are doing and how. But what is the sense in doing it that way? The banding is going to do what? What is the look that your going for? How are you doing the golls and keeping them looking right with the cap not having any separation. I think it may not be dyed due to lack of knowledge? I mean idk, I'm not trying to be rude I just was SO VERY EXCITED WHEN I STARTED WATCHING IT. IT COULD BE AMAZING!!! I'm going to see what I can do to finish this cause the suspense is killing me. Also, try sewing this design next time.

      This had once been accompanied by a series of photos clearly demonstrating the dye process on a tie dye group a hundred years ago or so. (okay, maybe ten). I made this video afterward because even though I had shot the folding process, people were still having a rough go of it and my demo wasn't clear enough for them. I have since shut down all my social media accounts and along with it went the photo series. I did download my data and I could look through it for the pics, if you'd like.
      I have done all the sewing and ultimately, I came to the conclusion that any time I can make it happen with folds, that's the only way I want to do it. My husband still has the shirt and it looks great.
      I once developed a way to use a sewing machine to do stitched designs. I used it on a bedsheet and sold it for 250.00. I wish the feed dogs had been geared for longer stitches because I was using a baste stitch and once I had run all the stitches, I'd just pull the bottom thread and gather it as tightly as I could. Typically you'd use upholstery thread so it didn't snap, but in a hurry to pull off some designs, it works in a pinch. I had this tutorial on the group, as well. I miss that group, but I hate the far reaching hand of social media and was especially not sorry about shutting it down when I downloaded my data to find they had kept records of everything I had ever done, every ad i ever interacted with, which companies they had sold my personal information to, the list is long and horrifying. Google (youtube, and every other app they own) is no better, but one step at a time...

      There actually is. I created this video to clarify the folding process of a particular design in a group on facebook. I did a step by step photo instructional and when there were questions about the folding, I created this video to accompany it. I will try to find the link. I am pretty sure it's public.

      @@lordofleaves257 All good. It's weird I don't usually get a lot of comments on my videos in general and I almost never notice the notifications. But seriously, I have rules about covers in order to like them. First, you must make it your own because the original has already been done. Second, you must do it justice. Third, YOU CANNOT USE A COVER TUNE as your first major single. *cough*marilynmanson*cough* I had a hard time respecting that guy after that. See? I'm a snob. :D

    another thing that might be easier for people with out a light box is drawing the mushroom first then folding it in half

    • @whiskeysquiker
      @whiskeysquiker  9 років тому

      I have used a flashlight under a glass table and even held my shirt up to a window before if I didn't feel like messing with the light box.

    Ok so the link to see the pictures isn't working and it's also saying the Facebook page isn't working so by any chance do you have a picture I can see of the outcome of this and.. When your dying it do you dye the stem that part you played it off and then do you dye the part you colored in and then just right on top of that and not underneath or? Cuz I am so confused and really would like to see the finished result because it looks badass thank you

      I'll have to look in my photos. I literally JUST shut my fb page down for good like days ago but not before downloading the whole damn thing in 2 formats. Give me some time and i will have the full series uploaded to my Google photos with the steps attached (I hope 😂) and a new link in the description.
