Hop reminds me of myself, and I suspect it's made his life difficult at times. He's extremely unlikeable, and has this heir of patronizing, condescendance about him that makes you just want to punch tf outta his contemptuous face @07:40 *"If your brain is too small to figure out.."* He's the guy that was destine to become a FED if not for his YT career, or grew up with parents in LE. He's the guy that randomly stands up and espouses *"Youre fn dumb, and here's why. Then immediately walks away"* yet has never been in a fight in his life. He's the guy that spends 100% of his free time with his wife and kids, bullying and treating them like sht. To just go out with the bois once a year for drinks, who inevitably gets tf beat out of him due to this bad habit of talking down to everyone at the bar, because he's only interacted with his abused wife and children the past 12 months. He's the type of guy that goes home with a black eye and then lectures his wife on the ignorance of society, and how he'd end it all if he had a fictitious, genocidal button. He's the type of guy that stands naked in front of the mirror with his rifle. He's the type of guy thats a home-a-fobe, yet allows his wife to peg him, and has a folder of she men videos. I may or may not be all of these things, regardless, I've always felt as if people have perceived me an a similar context; just more ghey because I'm pretty and troll debate forums with my objectively sus profile pic. Though lets be honest, Hop is sus af because his skin is *fabalous.* I can guarantee his entire life people have told him he has a *"punchable face"* because of it, and he has spent many a nights in reflection, as he quietly stares at the ceiling, wondering why *"everyone is so much dumber than him"* and how he can justify the completely avoidable conflict he inexplicably has with everyone around him *"I just have zero tolerance for dishonesty, and it's not my fault if people are triggered because I call them out on it."* I and I'm always conflicted when I watch his videos because I like his content, but know I couldn't spend 5 mins in the same room, drinking beers with the guy. But hey, not everyone can be as likeable as John Lovell; I fn love that man.
That being said, I prob agree with 99% of his content and will be purchasing several items from this video I didn't know existed.
The HRF guys are kewl af. They printed me a magwell attachment for my FN-FNC. Anyone whos shot a FNC knows they have the most narrow magwell in the history of firearms.

I mean the thing about puchased 3D printed parts is that you can print them yourself for WAY less. I have a magwell I printed my self for about 35 cents worth of plastic instead of paying $57 that HRF charges. OHC didn't make a scope cap for a particular scope I own so I printed one using TPU, a rubber like filament that made it even better (in my opinion) than the ones I own from OHC. OHC isn't bad in what they charge but HRF overcharges by a ridiculous amount.

@@bigro4444 Everybody will have different answers, mostly recommending printers they own (myself included). If you're completely new to printing and want a printer that "just works" go with Bambu Labs. Most printer companies require a LOT of maintenance and setup and tinkering to get the printer to do what you want. Bambu took the Apple approach in making a printer that works with a minimum amount of tinkering. That being said, we are gun people who like to tinker. But we also like our stuff to work. Bambu also has some of the least expensive setups out there. The A1 or even A1 Mini can easily be used to print stuff like this. Both are sub-$500 to get up and running.

One of my best use cases for 3D printing in the firearms space was test fitting things before I bought them. I wanted a vertical foregrip, and there's only a few DOZEN options. Buying each one would have cost hundreds of dollars, and I would have had to wait a week plus for shipping. Printing each one I was interested in took a day and cost me only a few bucks in filament and power. Once I figured out that I liked the Magpul VFG style the best, I was able to spend the money on the real thing without worry or remorse. I've gone through the same process with light mounts, tape switch mounts, pistol grips, killflashes, scope covers, etc etc.

Printing your own guns has a steeper learning curve than most are willing to admit. But it is worth it. Filament is cheap and untraceable. The Orca, for example, is one hell of a basic AR for very little money. Barrels, bolt parts, and springs cost some money, but you print most of the actual gun itself. Receivers, furniture, even the trigger parts that aren't springs. A 400 dollar PSA is just as cheap but you need to transfer via FFL. You get all the parts shipped and print the Orca at home.

    • @theKashConnoisseur

The nice thing about 3D printers is you can print your own printer upgrades. So while the learning curve can be steep (although there's a ton of helpful tutorials out there), it's relatively affordable to do. Hey, thanks for sharing, I'm really greatful.
I live across the pound, actually quite close to the constructor of the gun you've mentioned and I have to admit I know very little about guns.
I always thought that (a) gun manufacactures are ordering barrels from certain German company because it's important in the process, and (b) you can't simply plug a cartridge inside a pipe and strike it with a nail because it will expload and take your fingers away (there's a guy on yt who was shooting 50 BMG and got a serious hand injury TWICE despite shooting from a reputable firearm).
The reason I was so skeptical is that in the past there was plenty of mass media coverage of "3d printed guns" but it was always the "owl" scenario, simply we 3d print a nerf gun and put a glock receiver and a barrel inside.
For me, living across the pond, where having a gun is as probable as having a space rocket and possesing a single cartridge can put you in jail for at least 3 years, these claims seemed ridiculous.

What would work better is FDM printing the overall big adapter out of something like CF NYlon or CF PETG since theyre jigh in strench/temp resistance etc. , since a tolerance of .1mm is acceptable.
And then inserting, clapming or something else a Resin printed or metal mesh into the design.

A couple of quick opinions: Instead of spending over $100 with 100 Concepts, there's a company called Hammy's 3D Prints that offers very similar products at a significantly lower cost. I've been testing their light cover and Eotech kill flash, and I've had good experiences so far. (I do not think 100 concepts products should be as crazy expensive as they are).
Additionally, my favorite benefits of the scope cap for eotech and WML light cap are the protection they offer to the devices. If you aren't running suppressed, the cap will keep carbon off your light, which I find valuable on its own. The killflash also prevents debris, mud, and scratches from affecting your optic, which has proven useful recently.

@@ArmadilloArmament I started with an Ender 3, and it's been a good little machine. If you're not a huge fan of Chinese products, the Prusa Mk4 is a well regarded and high quality printer. But this is one of those cases where the $200 chinese stuff is arguably "just as good" as the $1000 european stuff.
It's hard to make a lot of brand recommendations because there's so many carbon copy printers from different Chinese brands. But as long as you're not cheaping out too hard and are reading reviews, you're likely to get something that'll do the job well enough.

Even with cheap modern printers (such as the ender 3 v3 ke) you do not need test prints really ever. I just got a new one and my first print was a Glock frame, second was a ar lower, both should last me a few thousand rounds at least in the Utah heat and if a problem comes up its like a dollar and 8 hours to reprint.

Cool for some niche applications (I use a 3D printed thumb rest and oversized magazine button on my IPSC pistol), not strong enough for anything substantial. The cost factor is even better for me since those pieces were previously metal, and nobody would ever bother to make molds for them

I have printed many full size and sub compact frames...lots of toys...and currently working on a .223 Wylde bullpup kit, famAR. Lots of adjusting with PLA, PLA+ and TPU filaments...more than a few failures. I finally cracked the Taulman 910 Nylon filament code.

I have actually designed and printed hex caps for a friend of mine who does sims. First time he used it, it saved his 6 thousand dollar night vision scope. Took a lot of work to get it strong enough without reducing image quality too much.
Generally I agree with your position though injection molds are not good solutions to this problem. If you aren't concerned about strength of the cap, you can make the hex patter much, much smaller by dropping nozzle size which most companies won't bother to do. It is totally reasonable to have the thickness be about 1/4 to 1/8th of the thickness from 100 concepts. The ones I made had the thickness at about 1/2 and I didn't even need to drop my nozzle size.
Additionally, injection molding is going to within the next 10 years lose a lot of ground to 3d printed objects.

3d printing actually scales rather well with more printers. Obviously the print times are still longer but when you take into account the advantages in terms of what geometries you can make and running a thousand printers simultaneously you can get some good output

    • @theKashConnoisseur
      @theKashConnoisseur 2 місяці тому +1

If you're running a thousand simultaneous printers, surely you'd be better served to look into injection molding instead. While the initial cost is high, the volume and speed of production should more than justify the cost.

I mean, the idea that 3D printing is a waste of plastic is just incorrect. You're correct that MOST people waste plastic that's a fact, but the process itself is insanely useful for producing parts for custom or even commercial tools etc at 1/100th the retail price. That's what I use mine for anyway.

i built a g19.3with a 3d printed frame using name brand parts kit, PSA dagger slide, holosun507c, and a surefire x300u for ~$700 all said and done. If i bought a prebuilt glock19.3 or even bought an empty frame, you're looking at $900 plus.
My 3d squirted g19.3 has lasted about 200 rounds over 2 range trips (im poor...cannot afford to shoot a case of ammo every time i go to the range) in 90F+ weather with no issues.
I have another g19.3 3d squirted that is inoperable dur to a pin from the parts kit failing....not the frame.

I have a video on it, but after cranking that magnifier in all directions, I had zero poi shift. I will say my buddies Vortex 3x magnifier did cause some impact shift. No idea why, but it’s the only magnifier Ive used that did that. I didn’t do it when we switched magnifiers, so I have to assume their glass was messed up internally.
