The product would’ve been great if it were all chrome base cards, and one refractor per pack with one numbered parallel in the box for $250. That I think would’ve been a good and fun value proposition for a lot of people. What was actually released I could’ve printed on my office printer.
Worst product of the year, I usually don't buy into this type of stuff, stupidly did. My box didn't even have a hit in it. Had to file missing hit with Topps and the base cards are garbage.
Poorly executed for sure. My boxes had strips of cut cards in the packs too. Quality control was poor. Card design was poor. Price was poor. Just a poor product- sucks considering this was such a transcendent player and historic achievement.
Topps is looking to capitalize on anything. Pretty sad where this hobby ended up. Poor kids will never know the feeling of buying packs at the corner store for $1-2
I think the days of $1-$2 is long over, but I get what you’re saying. The hobby has changed- but the important thing is there are those of us who will ALWAYS remember the good old days!
Single packs of this are almost guaranteed all base cards. Packs with hits on thicker cardstock are being weighed and taken out, then the base packs being sold. Unless you got individual packs directly from Topps this product just has no written all over it.
The only reason this is a rough product is not because of Topps.. it’s all the idiot flippers and breakers who try to buy it out and make a little profit.. They are the biggest issue with the hobby now.. Topps did not do anything wrong..
Topps priced this box of base cards at $250 per box. At that price, Topps almost always guarantees an autograph per box or multiple autographs per box. I agree breakers and flippers can have a negative impact- but we for example aren’t either- and bought them anyways as fans. The product was lackluster and a horrific value proposition even at $250 let alone the $400 secondary market price. 1 parallel? Most of which are just one refractor? The majority of these boxes don’t have a single numbered card in them…

I don’t think there is fixing going on- just bad quality control
We are keeping it as we are Shohei Fan, but the card set isn't worth it . Rushed set, Card stock is cheap, and some cards aren't centered .
Pure money grab. Topps should be ashamed at how blatant this is.
As a fan of Ohtani- I love the idea of the set. And love it as a sealed memento. But the actual product is horrible.

They’re going for around $350 now. I bought 5 boxes and sold 5 boxes immediately.
Yup. Even at $350 (honestly even at the MSRP $250), they are a sell.
Bought one box came smashed by FedEx but pulled SB #44 orange /25 so couldn’t complain from what I’ve seen
That is a VERY fortunate pull! Most people are getting a non numbered refractor as their “hit”.
Pulled a stolen base 10 orange /25 and a SP Kanji

Super cheap quality cards got a few packs from topps and of course got stuck with a bunch of base

Safe to say we’d probably do the same in Topps’ shoes- but man. This set looks like I printed it out of my inkjet printer it’s so bland.
