A legend
Perfecion de la tecnica, amigos.
This man is simply electrifying! I FEEL the energy just he steps on the scenario!
@Pollito Asesino if anyone is screaming as good as he is nowadays, Opera would be amazing to hear. Too bad singers sound like mosquitoes buzzing around nowadays.
Bell tempi

Bravo! Incredible
Superbo
Bravissimo Bravissimo !!!!!!
Perfect!
Imagine being in a average size living room and hearing him in person
😎😎😎
Would ring some ears up. Incredible volume for a leggiero tenor.

Absofreakinglutely! He was a friend of mine in college- would sit in on his voice lessons once in a while (in a living room...lol)
Heaven! Just plain Heaven!
Heard him sing arias from Cenerentola, Barbieri, Fille du Regiment, Don Giovanni, L'Italiana, Verdi Requiem. ..etc
😊😊😊
@@rugby8-Philadelphia I am so jealous right now. Lucky of you!!
@@ivanraphaelorquillas7874
He's a really nice guy!
And, I knew his wife also - she took classes at a Dance Studio where I played piano 🤪
Bravo !!!!! 👏👏 👏
Mejor imposible.
BRAVO!!!
Bravo.
Bravo!
@@hnofabianmanuelarenas599 jajaja claro
Todos hubiesemos querido que siguiera cantando eternamente ;(
Tiene más de 85 años
That was amazing. Attacking three straight high C's in succession at the end? Pavarotti couldn't do that on his best day. Blake sings this music with joy and brio and has absolutely no fear of the high notes.
Why does he add the two extra C's at the end? It just doesn't sound right.
Because he can !
It does sound right!
Just to piss you off
#1 Of course it sounds Right!
#2 It is bel canto - interpolation/variation is expected
...Read up on the style 😎😎😎
If you want to be a purist, you must know that Donizetti wrote exactly eight top C (sung at this period in falsetto); the ninth is an added tradition. So, Kraus, Pavarotti and others are also out of the truth, if we follow your reasoning. Mr Blake added, for fun, two more, but with the text included ("et mari") for the three last C; his choice has its own logic.
Nowadays, Michael Spyres interpolates top D in this aria ! No limits...🤪
Pas 9 mais 11 contre Ut 🎵🎵🎵
I first saw Rocky at Carnegie Hall in a concert of La Donna Del Lago - and it now occurs to me....did He ever do staged operas or just concerts???
"I don't care about high C's if they have the weight of peas ..." - Conrad L. Osborne.
....then don't listen
😉😉😉
Your fallacy is you think his high notes need to be as weighty and scuro sounding as del monaco or some other über-over-the-top Bb tenors high notes. Anatomy of every single individual throat in the world refutes that.
I heard a similar notion from another wise man:
"I don't care about high C's if they sound like a kazoo or a chicken with its head cut off" -- Leo Smart.
He Landed a half step sharp at 2:09 and sang the wrong lyrics at 2:35
I don't think he was sharp, although, I haven't looked at the score. What I mean is that he's not off key. This is bel canto, you're allowed to play with it as far as I know. In fact, as far as I know, that's part of the fun of bel canto. Absolutely right about the libretto fudge up though, however, I can only conclude that even the great Rockwell Blake is human and makes mistakes and occasionally suffers from the ol' nerves.
....wow, slander, aren't you smart....lolol
Consider complaining less?
Lololol 😎😎😎
You wanna split any other hairs? Did he happen to look at someone the wrong way at some point, did he move his arm in an incorrect manner perhaps?
This is how leggero tenor should sound. Not JDF or LB or JC.
SO True!!!
😎😎😎
You mad
.....about what?
😎😎😎
Agree!
Fra me e me, ragionando a voce alta, lo trovo "eccessivo", talvolta sguaiato e fuori controllo.

It's alright. I'd say he's a bit like a not-as-good American Alfredo Kraus. Less finesse and not quite as good voice. Kind of stiff tone. And the end was a bit unnecessary.
Do you understand anything about bel canto and the performance traditions/expectations???
The *bit* *at* *the* *end*(as you call it) it's completely correct. It's the cadenza/ending *He* chose - as he is supposed to - and executed it exceedingly well.
....um....hence the audience response
😎😎😎
@Barone Vitellio Scarpia if he had a wobble, he definitely would not have lasted as long as he did singing coloratura repertoire such as this!
He doesnt play the character very well. Tonio is supposed to be loveable and naive imo. He portrays him as hysterical and his facial expressions are very odd.
it's a concert, not a staged version
@@ferdecla there is a difference between smiling technique and unnecessary overacting
