I am so glad I found this video! My only computer is an M2 iPad Pro which I run my small company with and I need as audio interface the iPad can recognize when connected to a Dock or USB Hub leaving the inputs free so I can record through them (and if it is not the case please let me know and please let me know) Question: does the Volt 4 and 476p works the same with the iPad as the Volt 2 does?. Bests regards from a Venezuelan in Panama!

Do you use your interface with a mic in phantom mode? I wouder if that will require external charging cable plugged into the vold. Your experience in that matter would be really helpful.

Does the Volt interface MIDI i/o work well with iPad Apps? I'd like to be able to send MIDI from DAW to iPad to control synths. And send MIDI out from Apps like Lemur ;-)
I just bought a Volt 2 that has direct monitoring and with it on or off there is a measured gain surge and release cycle of 2-3 seconds. I tried changing the cables, changing computers, changing buffer high/low, turned off software monitoring (as per Volt's instructions), and still there is this problem. There is nothing on UA-cam (or at least I haven't found it) to help trouble shoot this. Any advice? Thank you!

Is there any ground noise with this interface? Also I know recording with the vintage button cannot be undone will that effect the mixing process later on? Or do you recommend not using the vintage button and recording raw vocals since it's getting mixed?.
If it sounds good it is good. It just adds a color shade to the sound that is very often good for sterile digital recordings. I’d leave it off for muddy or dull sounding stuff to keep a modern digital clarity. No mix engineer would criticize the effect vs the actual source and mic capture. UA knows how to make a mic pre sound good. Don’t be afraid and try both options.

hmmm, so this leaves me with a question. I currently can't use my ipad as a processing unit for audio coming in, because my interface is a GO:Mixer and it won't let me; I saw this channel ua-cam.com/video/2gC6G3a74AI/v-deo.html have to use 2 interfaces because essentially, you need to have 2 ins and 2 outs; do you know if this would work for that? What i'm trying to do is send a hardware synth into ipad for processing AND for recording into beatmaker 3. or really to record in general. Thanks for the awesome content!
If i plug microphones into the volt and plug the volt into the iphone, will the audio from the microphones be used when recording videos. Will it be used for going live on social media and what not. I want to make sure that I can record videos and livestream using the audi from the microphones plugged into the audi interface.

Is the power from iPad over USB C enough, even with the 48V phantom power enabled on the UA Volt? Or is it only enough power for less power intensive recording?
Great question! Yes, I use phantom power with only the usb c cable with no issues!

I thought Volt interfaces would be great for iPad users, too, until I stumbled upon a limitation in the Volt User Manuals. The Volt firmware can ONLY be updated from a computer. If you don’t have a computer, this doesn’t justify buying one. UA should figure out a way for their customers to update firmware from mobile devices, as should ALL manufacturers. The same goes for installing plugins. If you’re going to make an installer for a PC and Mac, then make installation available to mobile users, too.
The volt firmware has also never been updated yet
