I think the bombers need a damage model rework similar to the light tanks at top tier. There should be additional modules inside the aircraft that, when broken, negatively effect the aircraft in ways that doesn’t just shred it out of the sky and make it fall apart from a few shells. A few examples could be: Bomb sight - when destroyed will impact point will be stuck, will no longer adjust and maybe cracks show in the bomb sight view Hydraulics- When damaged, reliant modules slowly lose usability. When destroyed will disable the bomb bay, gear, and flap control. Also any hydraulic turrets. Navigator (Crewman)- When killed disables your own marker on the map and hides base markers. Pilot and Copilot (Crewmen)- When one is killed the control of the aircraft is limited. When copilot must take control due to pilot death the crew skills are halved. In exchange the bombers structure is buffed which means less losing your wing from 1 20mm round or a single 30mm round cutting the tail off. The aircraft can still take crippling damage but in the internal components.
My grandson was a B-17 Turret Gunner, he used to fight for Ptolemy II, every time he came back he told me his stories with tears in his eyes. he died swallowing Oreo, I will never forget !

Fun fact most b 17 ball turrets were so small and unprotected it was usually the shortest or smallest person to operate
