His reference to swerving like I'm George Jones is because George Jones was one of the great country legends. He was a bad alcoholic! Got arrested for drunk driving several times! He another one you should learn about his life. Jason Aldean was definitely flowing with some awesome bars up in his country or mixed rapping song. Whatever you want to call it! He's really good too!

Jason performed this on a televised awards show (someone else will remember details I'm sure), and the rapper Ludacris joined him and did the rap sections. Its fun to watch. You can find it on UA-cam somewhere. :)

"Hick-Hop" is a unique sub-genre of country. It's very divisive. Personally if it has a good beat and makes my morning/evening commute a little more enjoyable. Then I don't really care if its country, mumble rap or opera lol. Through the early 2000's we had a wave of actual Hip-Hop artist being featured in several songs. First it was usually just a good friend of the country performer and did the rappers did the chorus. Or the "hook" since rappers like to be different. Once these crossovers started getting radio play and topping the charts. The floodgates were open and we had an entirely new sub-genre of music. It shows no signs of stopping either. Just a few years back Carrie Underwood released "The Champion" which featured Ludacris. It is an incredibly catchy tune. Then "Old Town Road" by Lil Nas X featuring Billy Ray Cyrus recently spent 19 weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. That was the new, and still is, the all-time record for consecutive weeks spent at the top spot. Which is pretty mental considering it beat the likes of Whitney Houston (14 weeks) and Mariah Carey (16 weeks)
Yes, I remember when he released a second version with the rapper Ludacris doing the rap sections. I'm not a huge fan of that style of music but there are ones I enjoy.
Speaking of Ludacris, he does a song with Carrie Underwood called The Champion as well.

I prefer Brantley Gilbert and Colt Ford's version, personally. Brantley Gilbert is a great artist. Has some tear jerkers and some outlaw. My go to are Saving Amy, G.R.I.T.S., Read Me My Rights, My Kind of Party, Play Me That Song.

If you are interested in country rap then you should check out Waylon Jennings grandson Struggle...he is an amazing artist just like his grandparents. Also his best friend Jellyroll is another amazing example of country rap

Matt Kennon is probably my favorite current "This guy should be a bigger star!" name. So much great music by him that will just tear your heart out. "The Call" and "You Had To Pick On Me" (both great songs) got a bit of radio airplay around here. But some of my favorites are "You Can Still Wear White", "Daddy Don't Go", and "Wake Up Dancing".

Welcome to the "Is this really country?" debate. I see it already forming in your comments. I'd say about half of Jason's music is about half country. But I love it. I grew up on a lot of John Mellencamp and Credence Clearwater Revival and Jason scratches that rural rock itch for me. This song, though awesome, is 100 percent rock and roll as far as I'm concerned.

Stop right now! This is Bro-Country a separate genre from Country music. You nailed it at 2:13 when rap was introduced. This is different than square dance calling which is the original rap. This is the death knell of traditional country music. Rabbit hole, No, Black Hole is more like it.
