In the Auto Switch Castle, there are thwomps off screen that you can't see and when you get close enough, it triggers them to slam down on the on/off switch which changes the dotted line blocks color. There is also a pow block beneath the thwomp that defeats it so it won't activate the on/off switch twice which is why you see thwomps falling down from above.

The reason why you didn't get the key in Get A Life 3D is because you don't need the key as there are no key doors in the level. 🚪 So when you don't need the key it will just jump away like that. 🔑

In Auto-Switch Castle thwomps were falling onto On-Off switches above the screen. you can see them constantly being defeated.
