Some people are just miserable and try to bring everyone down to their level. Your videos are my happy place. There’s nothing I love more than a weekend morning curled up on the couch with a blanket and a cup of tea, and watching a next level homestead/gardening video. Thank you being such a positive presence in all of our lives. You have so many people who appreciate you, we’re just unfortunately not as loud as the negative ones.

I'm so sorry for the hate that comes your way and it just goes to show how stupid it is. I can't wrap my head around people finding cruelty to be an enjoyable life goal or entertaining passtime. I'm glad you aren't as bothered by it now. Thank you for continuing on in an atmosphere where any social interaction attracts unpleasant people saying and doing unpleasant things. It's become fashionable and a point of pride in some circles, unfortunately. Thank you for not abandoning us to save yourself, haha!

This just happened to my daughter and her husband at their farm. Their rooster began attacking her then began on him. They have a 2 YO that could no longer play outside because of that bird. You had to carry a large stick as defense and had to keep your head on a swivel. They’re very quick so you’d have no chance to run. They were advised by other friends who raise many many chickens on their farms to harvest the rooster as they didn’t want his genes in their flock. That’s what they did. He was quite beautiful but he was huge & aggressive. My daughter likes to say she makes a mean chicken soup! 😉😉

I have 3 roosters not by choice but by bad sexing. We have hand raised them since they were a couple days old… so far they all get along until my 3 year old grand daughter came to the ranch and one of the roosters started attacking her. It’s the only time I’ve ever felt like I could possibly slaughter one of our animals. I worked with him and by the end of the day he complete ignored my grand daughter although I kept my head on a swivel watching him!

I totally agree that using your own diy skills instead of throwing money at hired help is a great decision!
The biggest issue with that is the necessity of having ‘patience’. On huge projects like you are tackling all at the same time, you have to be OK with letting them happen as you realistically can get to them (physically and financially). So far your visions have come along spectacularly!👏🏻🥰

On the flip side, I appreciate people like you who set out to teach other homesteaders - both current and future. I'm not a homesteader yet,but I eventually hope to be, and I want you to know that channels such as yours are so very valuable to those of us who subscribe to learn rather than criticize! BTW. it looks like you handled the rooster quite well! If you try it several more times and he doesn't change, at least you'll know you tried and that he can be re-homed!

You are a wife. Here, I have mentioned but two of the souls you have unmistakbly touched and influenced in your life, not to mention the thousands whose lives you have touched without even realizing it. Your gift- is LOVE. You love nature and life, or you would not be interested in gardening at all. Your purpose in life? "To share the love that God gifted you with upon the moment of your creation." Everything else is just "icing on the cake."

As a young teen I was one of those "try to be what everyone else wants" people. THEN i made the decision to please only myself and my family. It was the turning point. From then on, I had loads of friends and a very fulfilling life, mainly because I didn't care if someone didn't like me because they didn't matter to me. Be yourself and know that those who hate are worthless. I will be 83 in a few weeks and I have never regretted just being me.

I grew up on a chicken farm in the 50's and 60's. My dad raised hens for a local hatchery so the flock had plenty of roosters. When roosters attacked me I would kick them in the breast area hard enough to move them back several feet. Most of the time they would attack again. I would kick them again. Never really injured any of them. Just be careful if they fly toward your face. That's really the only vulnerable place on your body. As far as hate goes, I'm a 75 year old former marine in remission from throat cancer.

I've been watching your channels for a few years back when I was starting off as a new gardener. I've learned a lot from yours and other channels over the years. I'm at the point where I've figured out how to grow my tomatoes and herbs. If a next level gardening video comes out, I researched Rosemary 3 years ago so for me, no rush to watch but I want to support your content so I'll watch it at some point. Next level Homestead however, If i see a new video pop up I'm watching it ASAP. People come to your videos and then stay because of you, the host. the content becomes almost secondary. As a new (ish) gardener in his early 40's. You do you man and your channel will keep succeeding.

I must say, I laughed out loud when I heard the theme to The Good, The Bad And The Ugly - that was spot on! Have you had much frost in your area? I am south of you and lost a few plants to the strange weather we've been experiencing lately. Would you entertain the idea of dedicating one episode to California natives and drought tolerant type plants the pollinators might enjoy?
I just want to say, I commend you for all of your hard work and commitment to the completion of each project. Also, being brave enough to share your real life with us regardless of opinions and advice. I appreciate you and this informative channel. Kind regards...

Lastly, you are to be commended for your bravery with the rooster! Made me laugh but you did it. Good job. That rooster doesn't know just how good he has it! Keep on keeping on Brian! and thank you so much!

You did good. From what I'm told, you have to hold him down to the dirt for at least a minute or two and then follow up with holding him and petting him for a few minutes so he knows you're also not going to harm him. I've been watching these videos and asking for advice and info for my monsterous rooster too...unfortunately I have not gotten up the nerve to try it yet😭

Great job on all! The steps are going to look so nice, the coop is going to be awesome and you'll teach that rooster yet!

The rooster thing was hilarious - is he responsible for all the peck marks on your shoes? The stucco project looks like a good start, I hope you're feeling $3500 worth of joy and that the rest of it goes well. Watching you push ahead on your walls along with other UA-camrs similar stuff is an inspiration for your viewers who also want to try things but are having difficulty getting started. Last summer I nudged my 67-year-old self, a little at a time, to build a patio paver walkway along one side of my garden pond. It was a thing on the list for a long while and a spot that needed to be geezer-proofed big time. It is finally 95% done, there's still some concrete finishing touches to be done but it looks nice and I'm glad I did it myself. The project this summer will be to move some rocks and boulders to create a raised bed.

I think your Rooster idea & execution of dominance was fantastic.
    Well done!
It looked like you pulled that off 100% correctly.
I also think you should do that
    EVERY DAY.
    For how long?
I don't know, simply bcuz I'm not a "chicken person".
    (insert weird human joke here)
But if I were doing that with a dog,
it does sometimes take more than one day of reminding them who is king.
I suppose the chicken people gang would know more about how a rooster thinks & responds to get a better idea of how long does this process take before you can strut in front of the chicken ladies like the REAL KING!!
I look forward to your progress!!
    Long Live The ROOSTER KING!!!

Brain - you've got this! The wall and the stucco is something you can do. Let your artist shine. You will look back and be able to see your accomplishments with pride. No gym membership needed, you have a walls to build. Let the coop be your big canvas to enjoy. Yes it will take time, but it will be time well spent. Good luck with the rooster, he is a looker. Love the video. You are right. You can please everyone and it's a waist of your energies to even try. Life is short. Live it your way. Best

Great that you gave rooster training a try...or two, or three. It's more than we would have done. The daughter's rooster is a sweetheart. Luck of the draw? She would be very jealous of your coop. Also, those peeps giving you grief probably live in an apartment in a big city. No clue about growing anything other than opinions. Love your videos! Thanks for all you do.
