- A Dyno pass on a new engine.
The active screen does not display all of the data during the run. That is why you don't see the peaks during the actual run.
Engine is 45.5ci. Built for Garden Tractor Pulling. Could be used in other applications such as Lawnmower racing. Air Cooled.
Amazing mods to this engine! 12k rpm is crazy this should come standard on zero turn mowers lol!
Carsandcameras should look into something like this for their drag rail!
I'd like to see 4 of these in a v8 configuration
beargibson3100 😯🤤
You guys are good at what you do. I'm struggling to break the 50hp mark at the moment so I come here for inspiration. Well done.
Take an 18 HP engine and increase it's power by 1200% = 134 HP? No turbo, Bloody insane...
holy sheeiiit......thats based off of a kohler Vtwin?.....good lord , thats awesome.
Simply amazing! I'd love to see more dyno runs.
Damn . 12,000 Rpms ! Awesome
awesome lol, it really is amazing the potential these small engines can have with the right minds and the application of maybe a 'few' choice components :-)
My God! Not what I expected.
@@maxwellgreen5750 try 134 hp
That is dope!!!!
Very old post I know, but Noonan Race Engineering has a V-Twin that will produce around 1000 HP for your mini pulling tractors...
WhAt
I need this for a drag tractor 😂
45 cubic inch Kohler Command V-twin built by Midwest Super Cub. 2.385" stroke over a 3.480 bore.

Which V-Twin mower engine is a good foundation for a nice little Street hop up mwr
What's also some good performance mods for your everyday lawn tractor
Absolutely nuts!
I need one in my fiero , so much weight cutting. And if that was 100hp it’s 30 hp more than a gym iron duke stock 😳
It has more horse power but it only made 24ft lbs of torque at full throttle you would stall your car at take off
@@conner5611 it made like 70 ftlbs
Those S damn Stahls are at it again! Lol very nice design guys keep it up.
All the parts inside this engine are made by Midwest Super Cub. No ARC parts in there.
Sounds like a V8 almost!!
Rotaxd, why because its regulated by the rules has to be a lawn mower engine that came in a lawn mower. Not too many factory OEM rotax 1000 lawn mower out there. A rotax 1000 is a 1000cc, we are limited to 45 cubes also. For another thing this engine was built in 2012 and hasn't been apart since and still turns 14,000 rpm out of the gate. That my friend is why we use a Kohler Command, its dictated by the rules.
Could some one run a Briggs v twin as long as it was under the size limit and other such rules?
Sure, has to be 45.5 cubes or less, methanol fuel and 1.2 venturi carb, stock appearing koler type carb.
+Julian E Stahl oh ok just curious, it's a little idea I had once "wallet permitting" just to change things up a bit among all those kohlers, you know? I pull Briggs motors at a amateur level and do very well against commands and I'd like to go pro one day. Btw I know Midwest used to make billet flywheels for vanguards, would it be possible for me to have one made or maybe buy an old one in the where house perhaps? I've tried to make several but I can't get the magnet to work if not I'll go with the CDI kit eventually (if it lasts that long).
Sorry, we don't have any of the flywheels around any longer and we lost the programming to make any more. Not sure why your magnet didn't work correctly.
+Julian E Stahl well my main problem is the Briggs magnet is epoxied onto the flywheel and are almost impossible to get off in one piece and I've tried everything and I can't buy just a magnet due to legal problems or something like that. Farthest I've got was a very weak spark and it wasent enough to run on. I'll figure something out I guess because I'm still running a stock flywheel and I've been lucky so far. Any advice on what I could do?
Perfect replacement for my 28" Snapper rear engine rider. Aw crap maybe not it's a horizontal...
what part of that hp curve is usable. I would think anything above 7500 would result in a damaged engine
80hp and peak torque is similar to the Rotax 912 1200cc aero engine, and they are huge money to buy. A detuned version would finally replace the Rotax two stroke 582 with a 2:1 redrive added. Hope someone spots this
+Kevin Armstrong the problem is longevity and more important is heat making 35 to 45 with this type of engine is doable running on an aircraft
+DOUGLAS ANDERSON looks like water cooled heads, I reckon 60 peak would give enough life for an ultralight, my little fan air cooled Briggs is making 33-35 out of 615cc which is 56 hp per litre, less than a family saloon, water cooled give a lot more potential.
the head on this is not water cooled. it is made for short drag pulls thy have a good website, i am interested in your Briggs what kind of rpm are you spinning and how mane hrs on it I am looking at 993 Briggs or 1/2 vw for ultralight.
+DOUGLAS ANDERSON Hi Douglas, I'm on Facebook, based in UK, got just over 150 hours on the base motor, lots of development on it, am engineer so enjoy sad tinkering. redrive designed in cahoots with John at Ace Aviation, factory in India so machined cost is peanuts. have a Dropbox file with all the photos and build, used the smallblock 38" Briggs as it is lighter, tuned to around 33-35hp. Performance is just under Rotax 447 but fuel burn is only 6.3 litres per hour.
+Kevin Armstrong www.dropbox.com/sh/pbmyombw58x3r5c/AADZQXS6K-CUPauNamns9ZHEa?dl=0 has all the recipe ingredients
It sounds like a two stroke 😂
i wasnt expecting the rpms to hit 12000
Do u have pullys for the vtwins or is it just a single cylinder flywheels
Mowing with that amount of power would have them blades like a chopper.
Need this for my race mower build how much does one cost
What modifications were done to this engine
Removed govnor
Suena como un v8
im working on making my own v-twin out of a couple old weed eater engines
Donovan Bryant good luck buddy, if you pull it I'd be sure to upload a video!
Awesome but why an evenly split single manifold for an unevenly split VTwin?
Helps the air/fuel mixture burn the same in both cylinders. If it were the same as a stock one, one cylinder might not burn as efficiently which means less power. The cylinders are more or less the same just mirrored to each other. If you notice it has even exhaust pipes as well.
Turbooooooooo!!!!!!!
for a custom mini bike project
Someone should put this in a scooter or something 😂😍
Holy crap.
Hello, is it possible to rebuild 810cc / 27hp vertical shaft Vanguard Optimum to horizontal and reasonably tune it to say 35hp at ca 4500rpm and save long lifetime ? How to rebuild lubrication and which tuning parts to buy ? Thank You for advice.
simflying if I had to guess I'd say just re drill the oil drain holes in the heads and relocate the oil pickup but I'm not sure how the cam receives oil... not sure but anything is possible
This can't be real is it are you kidding me over 100hp revving to 11k?????
Yes it is real.
How much for one of these motors?
Sounds like a v8
Fuckin bad fuckin ass
0:31 Dude what the fuck. lol
how much?
+Lori Neal Around 9500
LAWD YEEEZAS
is it possible to reach 500hp with just a V twin
Yeah if its your size
no fucking way.

TOM PIPPS FOAM- BATON ROUGE LOUISIANA USA HI HELLO &
So, $9500 for an air cooled kohler that makes 120 ponies at 12k plus rpms...and may stay together for what, a few races at that rpm ? Why ? You could buy a complete rotax 1000 with an ecu out of a wrecked sxs for under $3500. Bolt on a junkyard turbo, and make 140 horse season after season without blowing it up.
Julian E Stahl ok, you got me there...I wasn't even thinking about the sanctioning body demanding a oe or implement specific block. Being limited to 45 cu.in. makes some sense too. Seems like there could be some room for an outlaw or unlimited class with other then mower specific power. Hell...a liquid cooled two stroke twin sled motor would be half the weight & is easily capable of 170+ hp.
