2:35 Telling history by images and paintings was very usual in churches, because most people in earlier times weren't able to read! Especially the colourful church windows tell the stories of the bible. Maybe it's a little parallel here . So all people can understand the stories, no matter which language they speak😃.

@@WesandNico You're welcome! Even if you are not a Christian, you should always visit the churches on your trips. Most of them are amazing for architectural and historical aspects.
Can we do Monte Palace AND the Monte botanical garden on one day or is it too much? We're going in September.
Definitely. Monte Palace in the morning, that's the one you'll see first, right after the cable car departing from Funchal City center. Have lunch at one of the bars there and then head to the next cable car going to the Botanical Gardens. You can fill up the entire day like this!
Make sure you keep in mind the ticket situation. Down in Funchal, you can buy tickets for the first Cabel car to Monte and the second cable car to the Botenical Garders. This is a combined ticket, with entrance to the Gardens included.
Tickets for Monte Palace need to be bought separately at the entrance or of course online. I hope this makes sense!
