I agree with this to a degree. This situation was not impossible to avoid. The attack yes, there was no way to know for 100% certainty that something was going to go down around 9:30pm on 9/11... However when additional security was denied and air support, etc were denied that's when it could have been avoided. The ambassador was poorly guarded in a compound that left him exposed. They had drones above them that could have been feeding them information on the fly it could have warned them about the mortar attack. So yes the attack in and of itself probably wouldn't have been stopped entirely but the deaths could have been prevented if help was given at the appropriate time.
