      Pushed the dev? Its not like he was bullied everywhere, he just keeps getting too in touch with the comunity which is always bad. There needs to be a certain filter between the dev team and the comunity. Greg doesnt have it and this is why he is constantly complaining and having burnouts. He just cant put down social media. You cant blame players for everything.

  • @eduardoborges506
    @eduardoborges506 2 місяці тому +61

    The game was obviously overhyped. Everyone knew this. Greg knew this. Most players that actualy followed manor lords knew this, but many of those who ended up buying it didnt. Imo greg is complaining a bit too much and realy needs to put down social media, because everything that has been happening was predictable and its not his fault. He just needs to put a barrier up, stop giving so much atention to every opinion given, do a sean murray from NMS, and just focus on his dev team and the development of the game.

  • @NavyDood21
    @NavyDood21 2 місяці тому +19

    I really want this game to be what the dev initially wanted it to. I just want to build a decent little settlement with the stone manor/castle that is shown right in the banner for the game. I am not expecting Final Frontier + Total War, but at least let us get to the stuff they show in the artwork.

  • @XxKidnoffxX

    Dude, the game is not even out. It's a game under development, calm down. Hungry audience... 88% positive on almost 45 000 reviews... The majority of people are not disapointed by that game at all. They try it at first. See the potential and stuff to do. And just wait. That's exactly the goal of early access : Money for the development. With the first week with over 100 000 players each days, he get a lot of feedback for the rest of the year to work with.

    It seems the concept of Early Access has been lost on a lot of people. You are getting access to an unfinished, unpolished, incomplete game to either help test it, get it at a cheaper price or help fund it. You are not getting a complete game or one that is nearly ready to go. I really think it should be re-labelled "Early Access Alpha" or "Early Access Beta" to help people understand. I haven't played since the big market overhaul, not because I'm disappointed with the content in the game currently or my dissatisfaction with how the team is making updates. But because I don't want to burn myself out on the game for when big content drops come.
    Manor Lords is a project I want to play and support, not because it's big and flashy, or scratches a gaming itch (which admittedly it does) or have the devs promise us it will do everythong we ever wanted; but because its something I feel has been missing from the industry for a long while. A quality product, with a more than reasonable price, that isn't overstuffed with an ingame store or road maps that won't be lived up to. It is a game, that is what it says on the tin. For a game like that, I'm willing to wait as long as I need to.

If it was a MMO or big Online shooter number: 1,523 etc it then would would make more sense to say it had died.

      Has the hype drawn attention of ppl who are now dissapointed? Yes, but this doesen´t change the fact that there is already a solid city builder simulation.

    This game is supposed to be a marathon and it has been out for roughly nearly 3 months now and it’s pretty bad that there no important update. There has been bug changes content added, but it’s a minor content and it doesn’t change much to the game and that’s my problem like this. I have no problem with being a marathon. I understand developing making or anything game is a long-term investment it’s basically a marathon but the problem is the people that are producing or making the game have to set a good pace. They can’t be too slow and they can’t be too fast if you too fast, you put out shit content, but if you’re too slow, you cannot capitalize on the players that are interested in the game now right now they should’ve been doing right now is capitalizing on the hype that has gathered because it would’ve done that they could’ve brought out more content later on and made it better later on because they would’ve got more people to play more people to buy the game that means more money that means more hiring more freelancers more people to help develop the game for later development, which means faster development, which means better faster output without having any issues, but they waited too long again somebody that has been studying. It should’ve been a month and a half. That’s when he should’ve released the big update and it doesn’t have to be like a major big update but you know adding some new content adding more things to players to do. That’s what should’ve been done in the first month and a half adding more stuff, now by the end of this year, maybe beginning halfway through next year the game the base game should be done. It can be there not not saying completely done now, but the foundation of the base game should be there by end of this year or beginning of next year so they can focus on completely updating and adding more content, but they’re taking too long and by the time they release a major update it will be too late, nobody’s gonna wanna play they’re gonna end up losing people on this and this game will be abandoned and I have seen this happen before on video games one game was super hyped up. The developer said he was going to take his time four months ago by before he released a big update by the time release there is no videos about very few videos if everybody just kind of forgot about it, he developed it for about a year before he’s done developing because there’s nobody playing it and nobody supporting him anymore. Literally he quit and it happened more than multiple times. Indy games if they don’t have a good schedule on releasing updates or keeping the player based interest, they end up losing player bases, losing their players and will guess what happens. The game eventually just goes out because they have no one to play and eventually lose support eventually not getting enough money and eventually abandoned the game and this was on the road already. It’s off to a bad start, I said I’m not saying release major update but they need to start adding a decent amount for example. They can add the whole law system in place. They have some laws and that don’t work. Why not just focus on that system add that as your next update, you have it already in place why not fix it and put it in that is something that should be done big enough that it changes the game and adds more content for players to play with but small enough that is not gonna take too much time or too much trouble where you can still continue with the big update, but I understand right now it has nothing to do with it. They just want to switch to the unreal engine five which I think is completely stupid unless there should be more content first before they switch it to the unreal engine because they’re gonna end up doing is delaying themselves further eventually until we receive the game, we have no players and will be in a game that has so much prom abandoned like I said two games exactly like these games already have more promising and I played a couple demos of those two games. These games are already more flushed out then manor lord and that’s bad

    Great video. Love HH CEO comments - spot on. Community hasn`t gone anywhere and not disappointed about development timeline. I have one game that must be twenty years old or more and I still come back to it. It will be the same for Manor Lords as long as they stick to sustainable development and their shared vision with Slavic Magic. Seems to me they are exactly where I expected them to be and when the next update comes, it`ll be fun to go exploring again. Your comments ring so true. For those who don`t like waiting, they can move on... they don`t get the game nor the experience nor the developer. Do you suppose Salvic Magic might now have a treasure trove of feedback and experience on which to base his next wave of development?! That was what early access was about and giving us all a taste of the environment and systems that he is creating. So glad to have had this appetizer and happy to wait for the rest of the meal cooked just right... not underdone nor overdone.

    Active players isn't really an accurate metric to measure Manor Lords by. It's a single player game in early access, naturally people are going to check it out and then wait for big updates or finalization. That's really only a metric for live-service, let's not bring measures for that garbage into our single player games. That's what publishers do and is why single-player games are so overlooked by the industry.

    So, in other words, the game lives through its life cycle as expected for a game of this size and type (small and single player). What is to rant about here? That there is a life cycle at all? The only wrong here is publisher making some vague hints at expecting it to do any better. I think it's a consequence of online distribution - when the game were boxed products, everybody knew the game hit the shelves in the shops and advertisement hit the media, the job was done, it was time either for working on, in a pre-DLC parlance, expansion, or a new title. Now, with online distributor being able to pull out new copies out of thin air, so to speak, there's some hope the dead horse can still move on its own a few more paces, and it's... as dumb as it sounds.
    The only other problem is with us. We use "the game is dead" as some sort of pejorative while it is the most normal things under the sun. The game has lived and it died. So will we.

  • @hubris7434
    @hubris7434 Місяць тому

    I'll throw out a controversial opinion. The problem with Manor Lords isn't content or early access. It's that the game is derivative. The ant-farm supply chains are straight up lifted from Banished and Foundation. The combat is Total War ultralight. It looks great and is a development miracle. I'm happy to play it and support it, but there's nothing really new about it, beyond the look and specific combination of builder/combat. No amount of new units, building or resources is gonna change that and, sadly, I think player counts will continue to drop as a result.

    This guy got squeezed 5-10 rounds out of it? I only did one run that didn't last very well until I understood the fundamentals, then one run until the end, and felt like... I had seen all the game had to offer at that point. What circumstances were going to be different so I had to think or adapt differently if I started a new game? Nothing. So there it was, less than 40 hours of playtime, and I'm thinking "I'll check back in 3 years".
    But was it worth the money? For me, it actually was. Just barely. What is actually in the game is quite high quality, even if it's not particularly fleshed out. The ride is short, but it is enjoyable.
    However... the game was massively oversold by youtube/twitch hypebeasts. It is nowhere near as deep and replayable as they made it out to be. It was definitively overhyped immensely, and you should admit that. The hype being unrealistic considering the developer circumstances and that people "should have known better" doesn't erase the overhype of gaming content creators.
    Rafael's expectations of rapid big updates in early access are unrealistic, but your claim that there is no expectation of new content from the wider playerbase anytime soon is frankly just wrong. You can even see the holes in the tech tree. Of course players expect the game to actually finish over time. That's what early access was supposed to mean.

    ps the idea that just because content developers are running out of 'content' to generate from Manor Lords that it's 'dyaing'... is missing the point somewhat lol. SO what? The majority of the people that love Manor Lords aren't content creators. You nailed it with something you said in the middle of your vid, sometimes you just play it to relax. Ditto! I love starting afresh and just pretending it's my town, with no ultimate goal except to enjoy the life and grow, at my own pace, with no view to conquering the world or developing a megacity with more people than anyone else, or the biggest army on youtube. I just find it relaxing listening to the sounds of people working and building stuff. I don't care if it's not 'content worthy', cos that's not why I'm playing it. In the future when more updates come out I'll for sure be leading giant armies and all that, but until then I'm just relaxing and enjoying it. I must have put about 100+ hours in, but a lot of that was just chilling and enjoying the sounds on regular speed. Just sayin.
