For comedic effect, yes, Charles is the best. But sometimes he's so over the top and involved in Peraltiago that it borders on harassment. Like the wedding bells comment, it's weird and inappropriate on the surface (which is part of why it's funny), but later Amy said she transferred to the 99 because of sexual harassment and I can only assume that comment brought up some bad memories. If I were in her shoes, I would have been kind of repulsed by both Jake and Charles because of that. It's a wonder she didn't transfer out of the 99 back then. I bet Jake had to apologize and do some clean-up after Charles.

By the way, I love Boyle's character and I don't think he ever had bad intentions, he just never learned how to human properly (neither did I, but I lean the other way, toward silence so I don't get in as many, um, situations).

Yeah but the first time when he said that thing about wedding bells the relationship progress slowed down quite a bit.
looks at Jake's face at 4:39. he was truly invested in the kiss, closing his eyes, holding her and seeming a million miles away from the case. i don't know how many times i rewatched that moment, too adorable

I just love how chill their relationship is. The writers just made it such a normal love story without the rollarcoaster of drama and emotions.
Truly and especially after they got married they don't just suffer, they just enjoy being married to each other and face hardships together.
It's lovely how their competitiveness never interferes with the nature of the relationship. On the contrary it is the factor helps in building the relationship, other than Charles.
The relief on Jake's face at 7:40 always gets me, I don't know why. I just seems so honest.

Honestly, the first time i saw the show, when it cut to them lying in bed smiling, i was sooo happy and my heart melted

7:54 I love this scene because it’s those times jake takes a step back and really appreciates her instead of trying to reflect the feelings and her experience when he didn’t say it back, great acting
You know why THIS is the best tv couple?
Because there’s NO TOXICITY in their story. Yeah both of them dated one other in-story character, but it wasn’t on and off and hurting each other or seeing other people. I don’t know why people keep using Ross and Rachel as an example.

Now that I’m rewatching b99 for like the 7th time I’m finally starting to notice subtle clues even from season one that they would end up together. I absolutely love the amount of denial they're both in in season one. Like they act like they're just really competitive rivals, but deep down it's because somethings there and they can't admit it. One of my favourite tropes, and I'm not even remotely ashamed of that.

Honestly, i don't think there is any other couple better than Jake and Amy. The show went very good by not breaking them up even once and keeping them together for the entire rest of the show.
it’s crazy how so many shows do that and weirdly they always have them get together in season 3 and then break up by the end of that season. New Girl did it and the Big Bang Theory did it too both in season 3.
