Thanks for this vid. Have been here a few times and smelt that stench. It's a hell of a way to make a living. So many lives lost to the industry here on the Coast. My Father was a first class miner at Denniston for many years. My younger brother lost his life just up the road from here at Pike river. The devastaion is real 😢 Thank God my parents had passed by 2010 and spared that grief. Rip to all the lost miners 🙏
Thank you for sharing your personal connection to the mining industry and the devastating losses it has caused. It's important to remember and honor those who have lost their lives in this dangerous profession.
So tragic for the families. The kind of disaster that is unfortunately familiar for many here in Nova Scotia as well. Take great care and all the best from Bruce and Otis.
I'm so sorry to hear about your ancestor, Paul Peillon. It's heartbreaking to think of all the lives lost in that disaster. Sending you my condolences.
Thank you so much for doing this video. My son's Great Great Grandfather was one of the Miners that, sadly, didn't make it out alive. The Brunner Mine Disaster has always interested me and it was nice to see around what is left now. I hope to make it there one day
I'm so glad you found the video meaningful. The Brunner Mine Disaster is a significant part of history, and it's important to remember those who were affected. I hope you get the chance to visit and connect with that part of your family's history.
Remember my Dad Taking me here when i was way younger, in the 1980's or 90's , very somber even for a teenager, my Family is from the first settlers further down the coast, on Gillespie's Beach, but My Grandad had heaps of info about this Disaster, His Dad knew some who perished, and some who had traveled from the other mines to help to try and rescue them, unfortunally to no avail, Grandad said they were big burly men who never shed a tear, until that day. Cheers for the video about it
Thank you so much for sharing your personal connection to this tragic event. It's stories like yours that make history come alive and remind us of the impact it had on real people.

Cheers Pete, i look forward to it, Jamie. Also there is a place inland from the Totara Flat Hotel, called Half Ounce Creek, u can probably guess why, Mined by the Walsh and Wilson side of my family too, also below Waiuta mine there used to be a Big ole Gold Dredge, Grandad had something to do with it@@AdventureTravelNewZealand

New Zealand has the best pies
Best pies? I guess that makes New Zealand the “pie-oneering” country of the pastry world! 😄 What’s your favorite filling?
Pikes coal mine was the worst and was recently a fue years ago
Sure was my friend
Good man for doing this. im a bit of a fan of yours, just have some issues with China and its influence on NZ and its scams like temu . Anyway keep up the good work
