I believe Kevin McCarthy had to be very careful about how he would give his answer to that russian reporter because Russian news media are always watching/listening to western news, i think before he became house speaker he did say that he would block any aid package to Ukraine starting 2024 but until now he didn't expect a Russian reporter to ask him that question if he's going to change his policy on ending support for Ukraine and the Russian state TV would've been surprised that if he gave the wrong answer that he doesn't support aid to Ukraine he would've gotten huge backlash for it

Why would Russia pull out? Putin tried peace at the Minsk accord and nato secretly built a army in ukraine completely breaking international law under the United Nations. Also russia isn’t currently in ukraine, it’s in the separated regions of the Donbas.

If Putin had just played ball and actually negotiated in good faith with NATO and UN, maybe the war wouldn't be happening right now and both countries would be in a better position.
