Lyrics
[Verse 1]
On a street of old bones
Dust masquerades as skin
Time turns itself to stone
Nothing left to lose and nothing left to win
[Verse 2]
Desires to break and deconstruct
I defend the middle ground
Every battle I’ve ever fought
Has either been lost or bought
[Chorus]
And in the rhythm of your voice
I find space to rejoice
My complicated illusions
Leave me with no choice
[Verse 3]
Even the answers that I dream
Are riddled with doubt and holes
Illusions are complicated
Redacted and retold
[Chorus]
And in the rhythm of your voice
I find space to rejoice
My complicated illusions
Leave me with no choice
And in the margins of the page
Truth hides but leaves a trace
My complicated illusions
Are now no more than faith
[Solo]
[Chorus]
And in the rhythm of your voice
I find space to rejoice
My complicated illusions
Leave me with no choice
And in the margins of the page
Truth hides but leaves a trace
My complicated illusions
Are now no more than faith
Saw them at Pompey last night James is the most underrated guitarist on the planet
Thank you MANICS for keeping real music alive and restoring faith
Amen
When we stop obsessing on clicks, view,.likes and downloads.... Maybe we will see the light
Been a fan since mid late nineties. Gift that keeps giving!
MOR MUZAK
Another great song from what is fast becoming my favourite album of the year. Been listening to the Manics right from Generation Terrorists and I can honestly say they've never let me down... ok, some albums might be a little better than others but I've never not enjoyed an album of theirs.
They are amazing, a shining beacon of hope in a bleak musical ( and otherwise) landscape.
Can't say I'm a fan of that new JDB accent/vocal during hushed moments of their modern songs though. I absolutely get he's needing to find new ways due to shredding his vocals in those early days but I just do not like it one bit. The irony is the shriek still sounds good on the recordings.
Brilliant, just brilliant. The old Manics are back.
This is why I so look forward to a new manics album because of unique gems like this that only the manics can make 👏
Best band in the world. Absolutely no-one comes close. We love you guys ❤🎵
Totalmente de acuerdo ,la mejor banda del mundo, para siempre
My fav band at 17, my fav band at 45.
This song made me cry! Thanks guys I'm happy for new album, all masterpieces
I love this song, especially really love this version with Nicky singing the intro. Thank you guys for spoiling us again with the 4th version of this one!
Kicking the ass out of it as devoid of ideas.
That's my manics, real, truth, exacting, originality, never has this band lost the way to give real music,my manics just and always, now, then, forever.i know as you do .
I adore this song full of melancholy ♥♥♥♥♥
'....Truth hides but leaves a trace'.....
Wise words indeed... 2022 I believe it will all come out , or at least a good chunk of it will from these past couple of years. 🙏🙏
Another visual masterpiece from Manics ❤
Saw them in York on Monday brilliant they get better truly superb band
Legendary group
Its a peaceful requiem for the world we're destroying... love it.
The world they are destroying" big brother" not us
@@dangreen5169 I've access to the internet, so you are we, just like I am, mate.
Beautiful
blown away
Please make Still snowing in Sapporo next!
erinnert an Zeiten von "Everything must go" und "This is my truth...". Wunderschöne Musik.
Manics still writing great music that really reminds us of our lives and our generation and making us realise where we are in life, although he’s not there I can still feel Richey’s presence in the songs
Just discovered you guys :D
So refreshing to hear real music. Big Thanks from the bottom of my heart
Your new album rocks !
You have a lot to catch up with, enjoy, experience, explore, manics will enlighten you, every song from every album, glad you're here.
The lyrics resonate with me so much favourite off the album, My teenage daughter also loves it so it must be good!!!!
Sounded great when they played this live at Bath the other night. Band feel reenergised again and back to their best.
This kind of music never dies . Fantastic
Powerful song
Thanks for two brilliant shows in Dundee and Glasgow, can't wait for the next time
I was at the Glasgow gig, almost teared up when James did the chorus from Chance by Big Country.
saludos desde la selva AMAZONICA del PERU !!! Pucallpa
Brilliant tune....Vocal melody is superb, same as Quest For Ancient Colour...They may be growing old...But they're still bloody brilliant.
Best track from the album!!
Utter joy. The lyrics are incredible
Wow what a song.
The older you get, the more complicated life gets.
Only if you make it complicated!
Beautiful song. Beautiful video.
Felt the track feels like an epic soundtrack, I love that.
Beautiful visuals ✨and music 🎶
Much love 💕
One of their best songs...certainly the best song of 2021
Loving the visuals on this one!. Gorgeous song and video. Nice one guys.
Another great track from their album. Super melody.
Hermoso arte visual y musical. El estribillo me llega al corazón ...
VERY talented #ManicStreetPreachers .
Futurology + Lifeblood + The Great Western + I Killed The Zeitgeist = perfection
gotta love the manics.
Crazy, seldom have I heard such an impressive song! ... just can't hear it enough ...perfect
Best song of 2021? I seriously think so. Simply love it. Thank you Manic Street Preachers ❤️
Gorgeous ❤️🥰
Wow awesome track. I love Orwellian times but this song i think i may need to rate as even better then that one. A band that resonated with me in the 90's and reconnects with some of my beliefs and realisations about what is seemingly taking place nowadays in the world at large. Thank you Manics for inspired and required listening.
Thank you, Manics, just thank you💛
The best Manics song in 10 years . Musically marvellous , and those lyrics in the chorus are quite simply genius .
Linda música! Letra sensacional! O instrumental se conecta com a era Lifeblood dos Manics. E o visual do clipe é maravilhoso.
Yes 👌🏻
Vdd.

@@DeipinheiroRioPRETO Infelizmente eles nunca tocaram no Brasil. Na verdade, q eu saiba, o único país da América Latina em q eles tocaram foi Cuba, em 17/02/2001.

Lovemanics
Love how Nick "sings" the intro haha
Who told nick he could sing 😆🤣
Sorry but they need to cut out the intro to make it perfect 👍
@@robertcreighton4635 i did!
It's nice that James throws Nick a bone now and again for the odd line when it comes to singing, but come on now...Stick to your strengths Nicky
@@definitely_yana you devil 😆
Somehow, this could be their best album. I know it sounds brutal but every song seems to give me really their best. As if in all these years they arefinally arrived to their top.
Nicky should sing all Manics tunes from this point tbh
Σας αγαπώ κ πόσο γνώριμη κ αγαπημένη η φωνή σου φίλε μου!!
Awesome!!!
hvala dečki...super ste...

Você não está sozinho!
Best recent song I've erd
Was supposed to see them at Halifax on a rescheduled gig from the doomed 2020, but had already booked to be away in Scotland on that weekend. Missed Specials, Shed Seven and the Manics, all in one weekend! Gutted! 😬

Going to the next gig in Llandudno can't wait
Genial, los espero en España con los brazos abiertos

Grandi!
I'm originally from South Wales, where the Manics come from. In the late eighties, unbeknown to my family and I, my brother aged just 17 got involved with a religious cult. At school he had been the top student and head prefect year after year, captain of this sports team, played in the school orchestra you name it.
Before we even knew what was happening, the cult he got involved with completely brainwashed him and change him completely. One evening he came home babbling verses from the Bible, like some rabid religious fundamentalist. He was completely out of his mind, we just didn't recognize him anymore. You couldn't talk to him without it coming back to the Bible. There was no reasoning with him. He had become a Manic Street Preacher in the literal sense.
My family had already been living on the breadline due to my Dad's redundancy, then this horror show happened. It was just too much for us. We were completely traumatised when we lost him. Before his involvement with that cult, my brother had been on a very promising trajectory: In all likelihood he would have gone on from school to university, then followed that with a professional career. He had been our best hope for some better news, but that cult took him away from us and robbed him of that future and robbed us of that hope.
They completely dictated the lifestyle he would lead and the job he would do etc. His job involved unskilled manual labour, working outdoors in all weather, including blisteringly hot summer sunshine. Though he mellowed over the years and we always welcomed him to the family home, deep down the hurt and has never healed from those awful, dreadful events when we lost him. On 15 May 2015, my brother died of (skin) cancer aged 46, at the Marie Curie Hospice in Penarth, bringing his life to an end. And though he is no longer with us, the pain of knowing that that cult deprived him of his life and us of our joy and happiness, still very much remains.
I first heard of the Manics on Radio 1's Steve Wright in the Afternoon show, just a year or so after my brother's religious conversion. I took an instant dislike to them. Coming to prominence with *that name* so soon after he had actually become a manic street preacher, it felt like they were taking the piss, so I avoided them like the plague (as if that phrase has any meaning any more).
Of course, I've long since realised that wasn't the case; their name is just a coincidence. So in recent years I've come around to their music and to me this track is both poignant and cathartic. For personal reasons, to me, its possibly their best track.
I wish we could go swimming at the Empire Pool again. Happy times.
Wow
I understand everything prospective and enlightenment,I see in everything that you have written, your openness is honesty,I share my love to you, brother
KOOL!

Enjoyable Postmodern references and '80's-style Synth Pop. Oh! and Orwellian, of course...
