This band were playing in the midd ninties ,i heard " Roses in the hospital " and my love affair with the Manics began and that love this day still exists and i will neverstop loving the until they retire I was born the same year as James and they are a constant in in my life. ViVA MANIC STREET PREACHERS !
1994 I remember it well and bought the single. I first heard them in a pub on a video screen with Little Baby Nothing in 1992 and was amazed by them. Ironically, nine years later I ended up moving to the town and working there unhappily for the next twenty years but that is another story. At least the Manics have been an accompaniment and solace in my travails. They are true working class heroes and thoroughly decent with it. The music is exemplary, makes you think and moves you with the lyrics and is a bright spot in the dystopian present I had hoped we would avoid when I first heard them thirty years ago.
I don't know why, but this song reminds me a lot "lifeblood" era which is great because a i love that album, specially "1985" and "To Repel Ghosts". Anyway, thanks a lot Manics for such gorgeous song and album!..
Good pick up. I agree. Lifeblood is awesome! The B sides to that album make up an album of their own. "Everyone Knows/Nobody Cares" is insane! ua-cam.com/video/ASSNm9Y9DVo/v-deo.html
They started at that theatre....in Blackwood. Very proud to be part of it keeping it going....the Manics are good people, as well as being awesome at what they do. A special video - great song.
@@eightiesmusic1984this was filmed at the theatre they started at. Blackwood Little Theatre - not the BMI. BLAckwood Little Theatre is going strong and not funded by the local council unlike the miners institute - which is the issue. There are two theatre about 600 metres apart.

No doubt. It is perfect and the depth of emotion in his voice is incredible. Really there are not enough superlatives to adequately describe the talent inherent in their songs on every level. So moving.
Manic Street Preachers - and the fact that they have a new album coming out - are literally one of the reasons I am happy to be alive right now ❤ I just hope they come to Croatia to promote this album, they've only been here once so far (on the Send Away the Tigers tour).
No idea what the Video is about, but the Music is a Vibe 🤘Manics at their best. New, yet so familiar. I was taken back to when I was a young man starting out in life, now I am 42 and starting again. This song is the musical comfort I have been looking for. Heard it on BBC 6 Music, had it stuck in my head for day's and just shared this song with my Brother. I, like the Band, are getting on in age. In my head I am jumping about, in reality, like the Band; I am swaying leisurely on the Stage.
Street Preacher this isn't a song for the undeserved. I don't think they really care about commercial success anymore. All that has ever mattered is they continued to make good music and keep that rapport with the fans. We don't want Mondeo fans like in the EMG era!
Initially I wasn't too sure, after being spoilt with "International Blue" the follow up single was always going to be tough - but wow, this grows and grows and dare I say it eclipses IB - that takes some doing. Can't wait for the album.
First saw these guys in front of about two hundred people at a social club in Taunton when they were all feather boas, make up and home made t-shirts. February '91 seems like a million years ago some days, but only ten minutes ago on others. Even with a P.A. that sounded like a couple of Walkman speakers and a "stage" that was only six inches high, they still managed to dominate and transfix the crowd. Everyone had been talking about how cool it was that Carter U.S.M. were playing the following week, then the Manics started to play (after complaining loudly that everything about the venue was shit. We could sympathize. It was.) and for an hour we forgot everything else. Even the Fields Of The Nephilim followers seemed to dig it. A year later they were huge stars. Even the unstoppable rise of Grunge didn't kill their careers like it did with just about everyone else. It's cool to see they're still going. Damn it, but the nineties _rocked._
Saw Thunder in '90. Was never that into them or the Wildhearts. I was more into The Almighty. Therapy? were excellent though. Didn't know they were still going.
Cannot ever put a foot (or a note, or a lyric, etc etc etc) wrong in my book ever. Always. Big love just canny wait to see yous @ the Glasgow gig. Over 20 years since I last saw you play Balloch Country Park in Scotland. X
they saved me through my cancer battle
My favourite band since I was 18 now almost 42. Like an old friend 💕😀
Cool band, and you are so pretty at 42s 😉😗
Coco Mancera thank you 💗🤗
Autumn Is your name Autumn? That’s what I’m gonna call me daughter, if I ever have one! 🙄
Ricki Paddon are you being sarcastic? Why do you have rolling eyes emoji? 🙄
Autumn I'm being serious. The rolling eyes represents the fact if I as in I won't have.. you know what I mean? 😉
Best band in the world bar none.
Manics remind me that there's still hope for the world. Deep, i know.

Still kicking when others faded. Long live the Manics!
Manic Street Preachers pure love
The Manics have this uncanny ability to make Wales seem bleak and beautiful at the same time.
This album has really grown on me since I’ve actually listened to it all the way through.
beautifully shot video
Such a beautiful song, it grows and grows with repeated listening. Possibly one of their most heartfelt yet? Either way, it's just wonderful.
Wish I knew the words

Agreed. Amazing song and video, massively underrated x

They've reignited a spark in my soul that I truly believed was permanently extinguished.

Every time I hear it, it becomes more of a raging Welsh nash song. Must explain why it's been on repeat for the last week
I like this song! good melody!
It's a fantastic album
Good job, Manic Street Preachers!
This.. deserves to be number one in the official Top 40. Let's get it there!..

Stevie Sedge fair point
Stevie Sedge fuckin' amazing track though
Yeah, my partner really likes it as well. Would still like to see them do something heavier next though I don't think they will.
If this and International Blue are anything to go by, it's going to be another great album from the Manics.

What a beautiful language.
Lovely stuff
I don't care what they say about the music and that it's predictable... THE WORDS... WHAT THEY SAY IS EVERYTHING TO ME
Laden with meaning from the Welsh working class. A really beautiful song from the Manics. Look forward to hearing it live.
