  • The new building of the International Criminal Court (ICC) is being constructed on the site of the former Alexander Kazerne (military base) in The Hague. ICC is a permanent court for the prosecution of people who are suspected of committing war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide. Oskomera delivered the façades at the request of Courtys, a construction combination of the VolkerWessels companies, Visser & Smit Bouw and Boele & Van Eesteren. The design was provided by the Danish architectural firm schmidt hammer lassen. Oskomera and the client Courtys further elaborated the façade design. The aluminium modular façade system is a complex and playful façade with glazing leaning forwards and backwards, which have to meet the very strictest safety requirements. Oskomera is producing and installing between 150 and 190 façade elements a week. The unique form of the façade element system, the strict safety requirements for such a system and the short lead time makes the ICC one of Oskomera's most important projects. The building will be officially opened at the end of 2015.
