International Criminal Court The Hague

The new building of the International Criminal Court (ICC) is being constructed on the site of the former Alexander Kazerne (military base) in The Hague. ICC is a permanent court for the prosecution of people who are suspected of committing war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide. Oskomera delivered the façades at the request of Courtys, a construction combination of the VolkerWessels companies, Visser & Smit Bouw and Boele & Van Eesteren. The design was provided by the Danish architectural firm schmidt hammer lassen. Oskomera and the client Courtys further elaborated the façade design. The aluminium modular façade system is a complex and playful façade with glazing leaning forwards and backwards, which have to meet the very strictest safety requirements. Oskomera is producing and installing between 150 and 190 façade elements a week. The unique form of the façade element system, the strict safety requirements for such a system and the short lead time makes the ICC one of Oskomera's most important projects. The building will be officially opened at the end of 2015.
