It’s when a person feels guilty for being a survivor in a deadly situation while others died. Does their guilt make them actually guilty of any crime or wrong doing? No. It’s a human response to traumatic situations. Even though this woman was not at fault for anything that went on on the day of the shooting, she could have felt guilt simply knowing the person she drove went on to shoot up

The prosecutor doesn’t seem to understand Uber well. I drove Uber part-time for 8 years in Philly.
Initially, he’s asking her to read from documents produced by Uber which did not appear necessarily on her phone. For example, he’s showing her documents from the Uber records listing for “Nikolas Cruz.” For privacy reasons, the app doesn’t disclose last names. Her app screen would instruct her to pick up “Nikolas C.”
Her court subpoena summons obviously says “Florida v. Nikolas Cruz” now. At the time, she wouldn’t have known his last name.
Unrelated issue: I understand the presumption of innocence during the guilt phase to prohibit presumptively innocent defendants from wearing prison garb in front of the jury. However, Cruz already pleaded guilty and court is in the penalty phase. Jury already knows Cruz is staying in prison. Why dress him up in different preppy sweaters daily when we know he’s an admitted murderer now?
