- Mountainboarding is a very cool sport that looks similar to snowboarding but on the wheels :) How cool is that. I would love to try it as well but I know that ambulance wouldn't be able to take me from that tree in one piece :)
No seriously, it's a very interesting sport and all you need to start with is a board, some safety stuff like helmets and a hill where you can ride. You don't have to necessarily be in the woods as in this video. You can ride down as well in open field areas or ride in special sports parks where you can do mountainboarding relatively pretty safe.
These guys are awesome at what they do as you can see in the video. It might look like it is easy but trust me, it's not that easy to get down safely without crashing into a tree or falling down because of some hidden rocks when you get high speed. On some part of the tracks, they were really fast. :)

i ride with some friends. but the paths in this vid look like the ones we go up to get to the good stuff. steeper, higher, faster hills ,small cliff jumps. super fun. wish it was more popular

I have just started mountain boarding. I have got my own equipment ect and from bristol. I have gone to bugs boarding in Gloucester a couple of times and looking for other people and places to ride. And this looks awesome and not far at all for me so will defiantly be visiting there soon :)
Daniel Bracey I used to skateboard then I stopped 8 years ago as I never had time because I had kids ect. I picked up a mountain board 2 months ago and it didn't take me long to get the feeling of a board under my feet again.. trouble is I'm the only person in my town of glastonbury who mountainboards..im in Bristol a lot as my gf lives there.. fancy a mountain board buddy ? Sucks riding on my own haha

I feel the opposite, I used to and it looks boring i feel the music is trying to convince me its great . I'm gomma stick to biking lol I watched this for motivation to get a board again 😅 🙃

That dirt looks wonderfully carvable! Was the shot at the 2:45 time mark done from a helmet cam? I've been trying to find the best way to use my gopro while riding. I tried mounting it to the deck but there was just too much vibration. Any suggestions? And thanks for sharing the awesomness!

Yeah, agreed. Looks like a sport in its infancy. Gear doesn’t look ‘cool’ and neither do any of the tricks … looks great fun though. I’ve just moved into a property on a decent grassy hill - tempted to give it a crack.
I started out skateboarding and have been doing both for 15+ years. I've got several videos on my channel of a more "freestyle" focused style(flips, spins, etc). Also, check out guys like Matt Brind and Dylan Warren to see some pros get wild. Mountainboarding has been around for 20+ years, so there's plenty of footage of guys dropping hammers on them. You gotta start somewhere though.

An entry level board is from 100 to 200 dollars, I’m getting into the sport with a 10101 bms colt 90 another good one is the mbs atom 95x, both of these are great starter boards but I think the colt is better. There is a brake on the 95x but you can also get that on a colt 90x, will cost you an extra thirty dollars though. The boards are 200 dollars, the most expensive they get is around 2000 dollars but that’s only for electric ones, which I don’t think are necessary at all. Mbs is a great company I recommend looking looking at the board picker at mbs.com . One thing I have heard about them is that both the atom and the colt have Velcro straps which are not very good, and it’s recommended to upgrade to some other strap. As for your height to board height ratio, it doesn’t seem to matter too much, 33 inch boards are better for kids, and 39+ for adults, which could really mean anything. Also that was just written by someone on a forum made with lost of spelling errors.

Not sure what other people think but this is what I THINK and not them. It is time to open up Whistler to the Mountainboarding crew instead of just the Mountain Bike's. For one simple reason and that's because Mountainboarding is ready to go for the big air that Whistler can give them. These mountain board's are a real way to get even closer to the wild side of nature. Besides Whistler already has all the ski lift's and it's time to invite the Mountainboard's to the party on the mountain.

I wouldn't recommend it. Riding without heel straps allows you to push the board (the same way you would on a skateboard) and opens up possibilities for more tricks (one footers, supermans, etc). Heel straps really help lock you in tight, but you can't bail out as easily.

Some help please? I have a mountainboard, but at higher speed it starts shaking. Even on total flat land. I tightened the trucks, but not realy helped. :(
It's all about how you position your feet and control your weight, make sure your trucks aren't too tight or you won't be able to turn

I’m curious how giant rubber wheels like that would work on hard concrete going downhill . Those are neat boards but there’s room for improvement
The tires absorb a lot of energy on paved surfaces, that's why longboard wheels are harder, for lower rolling resistance. The tires work fine and are fun on pavement, but they don't drift well they have super traction on pavement. I would would want disk brakes if I was going between both surfaces often. On dirt the bigger tires kind of float over the gravel and you can throw around your back tires just by shifting your weight like a on snowboard. There are way more advanced boards than those there. Like full fiber with quad suspension etc.
