    Takom 1/35 BLITZ Stug III F8 Late Production Review

    You are correct that the Ausf.F/8 is the same hull as was used in the later Ausf.G, and that the F/8 has a different superstructure. So the hull in this kit is the same as the G, just with new fenders and a superstructure.
    Now, an Ausf.F has an older hull with a different shape (most obvious in the rear). Takom have announced those too now. Think of the Ausf.F/8 as a transition between the F and the G. It uses the superstructure from the F and the new hull that continued into the G.

    I wouldn't worry too much about the pronunciation of decal. Most of the British, Canadian, Australian and New Zealanders I have heard all pronounce it as deh cull. Just about everyone else pronounces it dee cal. It all depends on where you are from and what you grew up hearing. They don't like it that's on them.

    Looks like an outstanding kit. Whenever it comes back in stock, will have to get me one.

    Both pronunciation of Decal is accepted, there are regional differences and so no one pronunciation is correct or incorrect. The trolls need to find other things to worry about.

      De-cals is more aurally pleasing, though.

      When I started model building in the early 70s they were called transfers.

    • @randytaylor1258
      @randytaylor1258 Рік тому

      "Waterbased transfers" also works. As the original term was "decalomania", dee-cals is probably more correct but I have always called them deck-les.

    Thanks for this! Just bought this kit, so this has prepared me nicely for the build :) Great style of video presentation; informative yet informal. Just one suggestion: I can't see any benefit in showing us sprues in their wrappers. Maybe take them out before-hand?

    Toe-may-toes, tah-ma-toes, po-tah-toes, pa-tat-oes.
    De-cals, Deck-els, Deak-els
    I think we all know what they are.
    Looks like a cool kit!

      Oh, and I have one hobby shop that is one hour away. They have a tiny choice of model kits. They mostly have RC car stuff.

    It looks a nice kit and a good price. I thought that the Blitz kits were simpler kits that could be made in a weekend but that looks very comprehensive. i would never do that end to end in a weekend.

    I've built a couple of these blitz kits ..very enjoyable and good value. I live in Thailand and paid 990baht which is 23 pounds. My only criticism are the tiny instructions

    LOL, "So for now on I'm going to...". Interesting kit. Looks like it could be a decent first armor kit for an intermediate skill level. Thanks for the great review.

    That looks like a great package Jason, looking forward to your build video. Also, thanks for introducing the Osprey Modelling guide book. What a great library of reference books (my preferred media,) that they provide on their website. I was in the dark as to where any good modelling reference books were available from . Those published by 'Key' I find to be a rather lacking. 👍👍

    Hi Jason
    They definitely are detailed, value for $$$ and are a quick build, but there always seems to be a fitting issue with Takom kits unfortunately.
    Thanks for sharing your great video presentation. ❤😊

    In 1972 I would by my kits from a back ally shop in St Annes On Sea Lancashire. The chap in the shop was at least 40 and he said Decals the English way with a soft E. That makes it at least 80 years of Decals with a soft E. You will not get me to change. Just like Tomatoes with a soft A.

    Retails here for 33 euros, looks like a great deal.
    But I have promised myself I will greatly reduce my stash before I buy anything again and I need to stay strong and focus on that goal

    I recently built the Blitz kit of Takom's Jagdtiger. It was an utter nightmare from start to finish. Rubbish fits and soft plastic that melted at a drop of glue (tricky with a plastic kit needing glue). Add (at times) vague instructions and a mounting urge to chuck the damn thing in the bin! Took me weeks to get it together!

    Three great stores in your area... wow!
    Never apologise for buying so many kits. Whenever I go nuts with purchases, despite an ever growing stockpile, I remember what Nelson Rockefeller said when asked, as the richest man in the US, how much is enough money? His answer... "One dollar more."
    I apply that to kit buying. Now, kit building, that's where the system breaks down. I feel like the poster boy for 'analysis paralysis' and can barely start anything.

    Check with Evan. I think there may be dimensional issues with their hull. I don't think I would bother fixing it myself, but some people see those things as show stoppers.

    • @Panzermeister36
      @Panzermeister36 Рік тому +2

      There are but they're not very major and they're not the kind of thing I would fix. The dimensions of the hull front with the bolted armour and the nose welds should be correct on this kit and that was the only visible issue with this hull (used in the G kit). The remaining dimensional issue is with regard to the length of the hull being about 1mm too short allegedly so the idler is a bit too close to the last road wheel.
